I was first introduced to Clock Tower on Christmas Day of 1997. My stepdad had no clue what to get me for Christmas, so he randomly chose Clock Tower PS1. I ended up playing that game all day, giving myself nightmares that Christmas night. Years later, I learned there was a prequel for the SNES, and I fell in love all over again. I loved it SO much that I requested Clock Tower 2: The Struggle Within for Christmas of 1999....bad move, that's legitimately one of the worst games of all time (except for Roger L. Jackson basically playing Ghostface if he were trapped inside of a 16 year old girl).
Everyone, PLEASE watch this. GoodBadFlicks' video game coverage is excellent, show your support, so we get more videos covering games. According to GBF (hope not to misquote, here) but his videos covering games apparently do not perform well
I mean the thing is you can tell that he is working with Limited Run Games, rather than do this video willingly. Considering the research in this video is quite bare bones, and he downplays how much a train wreck Nightcry was, I recommend tangomushi video if you want to know more about that game. This Limited run collabs just lack that GBF exploring umph to it.
Clocktower 1 (OG), Clock Tower 3 (PS2), and Haunting Ground will always hold a special place in my heart. Those games scared me and stressed me out more (in a good way) than most horror movies! Thanks for the memories, sir!
You do a really great job with this content too. I guess I shouldn’t be surprised. “Exploring” vids are always special. Must take a ton of research. Keep it up 👍🏻
Excellent stuff Cecil! There are tons of game reviewers out there but I love your own unique way of analysing and presenting your videos. I really hope your gaming videos take off
I love a GBF exploring video but I really enjoy the rare videos covering classic games. I seriously want to play the classic game. I love Dario Argentos films and to see a game homaging them is quite brilliant. Such an original concept for its time too. Cheers Cecil for this video. Always love your work, mate.
I'm so stoked. My step brother and I played the hell out of Clock Tower (technically Clock Tower 2) on the PlayStation back in the day. I've always wanted to go back and play the original.
I remember back in the day EGM had screenshots and synopsis about Clock Tower with a hope that it'd come over to the states. Those scissors were nightmare fuel for me as a kid seeing just the art at the time. Clocktower: Rewind is currently on sale on Steam for $14.99 till November 4th.
Dude this was an awesome watch! Love your work Cecil, games or movies. You always put so much research into your work it never fails to impress and educate. Had no idea the dude who worked on the Clock Tower series went on to make Steel-fucking-Batalion, that's insane and I love it.
I've been doing something game related about once a year for the past few years. I think I did the first one about 8 years ago but so far I've covered Legend of Zelda CDi, Sewer Shark, Cold Fear, Crow City of Angels, Plumbers Don't Wear Ties, Golden Axe Beast Rider, Disaster Report, Manhunter New York...I think thats all of them. (so far)
I remember seeing Clock Tower 2, pretty sure it was, in a GamePro magazine ages back, but since I didn't have the PS1 I couldn't play it. It looked interesting and I'm glad to see it's such a beloved franchise, and even more pleased that it's getting more attention than anybody could have imagined nowadays. I hope everyone playing Rewind has a wonderful time getting to experience a remastered classic.
Great job on the video, Cecil. I know I missed out on a lot of horror games, since I only had a PC. Glad to hear that Clock Tower is getting a reboot for more gamers to appreciate it. It's always the best games that keep finding more fans.
Gotta be honest and say that I was expecting another classic deep dive into the movie Clock Tower, but was pleasantly surprised to see a video game historical review. I've never heard of either the movie or game, so this was great! Thanks for this and I hope you do more video game Explorings. Cheers!
Old horror games like that will always be special to me, and I'm glad to have an official release for this one and hope to be able to buy it soon. I remember hunting down the translated one after beating the PS1 games to get the full story even though struggling didn't really fit in from what I remember. Great video
i love this upcoming remake. Like it's an old game that might not be mainstream or whatever. But simply all the love and respect it has is genuinely heartwarming
You are very good at covering videogames! I love the plummers don't wear ties and the Faith video. But this one, oh boy. You really pull it off. Congratulations 👏
I LOVE the first two Clock Tower games. I’m glad to know that Rewind comes out tomorrow, because the official website still says “Fall 2024”. Thanks for the heads up. 👍 Loving your video game vids. If you’re taking suggestions for future Exploring videos, I’d recommend the Deception series.
An absolutely fantastic deep dive into a game I barely knew anything about. I had a huge crush on Jennifer Connelly when I was a kid lol. Great work as always GBF!
thank you so much for reviewing. I loved the SNES Titel. the atmosphere, the different endings, the new horrors in each playthrough and the music. Will definetly look into the Rewind Game
I haven't played any video games of any kind since my PS2 finally died, about 15 years ago...lol I find video game culture amazing, and it's fascinating how popular gaming has become.
I've been mildly obsessed with this game ever since I first heard about it, but since it never released here I figured I'd just have to do without or watch other gamers do playthroughs. I'm honestly pretty stoked I'm finally gonna get to play it!
Great video Cecil! I'll never forget when I discovered Clock Tower while browsing ROM sites back in the 2000s and gave it a try and loved it! It's great that it is being officially released now. Also, Getting a port of Sweet Home would be AMAZING
The girl interviewing Kono in the extras is Twitch streamer Celina_0801 who also appeared as interviewer and presenter for Konami’s Silent Hill presentation last year.

This was great! Had no idea this was coming out. Nice :) Happy Halloween everyone!
I remember first learning about Clock Tower back when I was attending college, and being really intrigued by its overall core concepts and presentation, while also being a little baffled that just as with the game Mother a.k.a. Earthbound Zero, despite both games being heavily American influenced, they both had never received a U.S. release within the time of their initial Japan release dates, while their respective direct sequels of Clock Tower 2 and Mother 2 a.k.a. Earthbound were both given U.S. releases within the time of their initial Japan release dates.
Clocktower is the absolute scariest game to me. I played it waaay too young and all the sound effects are burned into my brain and triggers my fight or flight (in this games case just my flight response)
7:20 now THIS is a game that deserves its own video! Mizurna Falls is soooo ahead of its time... Fellow watchers - look it up. You won't be disappointed! It's like Twin Peaks crossed with GTA3 on Playstation 1!
Wasn't expecting a video on Clock Tower from Cecil, and one that touches on many points in gaming history that I don't think many game channels would actually do. The History of Human Entertainment is basically a huge origin for many figures and legends within the game industry that would make many unique cult classic games. Besides Hifumi Kono, It's how Suda 51 got his start with firepro wrestling and Moonlight/Twilight Syndrome, as well as Sandlot, The devs of Earth defense force and Robot Alchemic Drive, with Remote Control Dandy. Clock Tower 1 is one of my favorite recent horror games I played through and really captures the feel of an argento film very well that most other games just haven't. Clock Tower 3 However I think is one of the most unique experiments for a horror game, given people like Kinji Fukasaku and Keita Amemiya, that makes it one of a kind for the genre.
This is really weird for me because when I was a kid, mum mum let me pick something inexpensive from a game shop. I couldn’t find a game that looked good and settled on this book compiling strategy guides for NES titles. Mix of JRPGS, isometrics and platformers. I was fascinated by these long out of print titles and was mortified to find out the awesome looking Beetlejuice and Robin Hood were AVGN fodder. Amongst those titles was an NES port of the very game discussed here, Clocktower. Never found anything about it thereafter, and it’d fascinated me. Shame I don’t have the book, maybe this game was never actually released…
I really do miss your videos that's more gaming related, clock tower was some of the coolest thing ever I never got to play XD Your disaster report video is till Goated tier man
I remember the hype around the PS1 version back in the day, and how it caused a bit of controversy out here where I live. But I actually had no idea it was such a big franchise! Thanks for the info! I'm going to check this out! =)
Another game that was HEAVILY inspired by Clock Tower was the most recent Five Nights at Freddy's game Into the Pit. It takes the franchise in the direction of pixel art adventure horror, and is spiritually a big love letter to Clock Tower.
I love the semi-anthology approach Clock Towers games did in the style of Dragon Quest and older Silent Hill games. Only two Clock Tower games are connected as a traditional sequel. But all the Clock Tower games are still set in the same shared universe. All but one game are connected by a Scissor Man copycat killer.
I’ve not play Clock Tower. But have always been aware, and fond of it. It has such a simple, cool idea! Maybe it was simply ahead of its time to have the global success it deserved?! Truly it was unappreciated! But that being said. Time is a strange thing! 🤔. I wanted to add the video game WIERD DREAMS into this arena. It also has survival horror elements in it too. But perhaps it is too arcade in nature. To be classed as TRUE “Survival Horror!” 🤔
I've always wanted to try out this game, especially after JonTron talked about it. Also, I think it would be cool if you explored the development of the original "Alone In The Dark," and "Silent Hill."
I remember picking up the us clock tower "1" and enjoying the game but being utterly confused by the sense a lot of plot was missing. Didn't know until years later it was a sequel.
This is the game that stated the whole run, hide and survive gimmick! No offence to games like Resident Evil and Silent Hill, and I love those franchises! Masterpieces! Don't get me wrong! But not having any weapons at your disposal and being defenseless, truly makes the experience terrifying! Which is why I LOVE Outlast! One day, I really want to play Clock Tower. Right now, I don't really have the time for it at the moment, but it is on my bucket list of games! Also, the third instalment went more action? Wow, a horror survival series turning action...mmmm...where have I heard that before? *looks at Capcom* lol but anyway, it's great they remade Clock Tower outside of Japan! When I get the chance to play it, I hope the hype was right.
This game franchise is between my most wanted on my videogame bucket list. Besides, is a great homage to classic Giallo films, but it is playable. However, if I could ask for a port to WayForward, it would be a console port for Aliens Infestation, after the sucess and a planned sequel for Alien Romulus and the videogame Alien Isolation, a port for Aliens Infestation would be awesome since trying to get the Nintendo DS cartridge Is a hard task from many.
WHAAAT!?
One of my favorite TH-camrs covering one of my favorite franchises let’s go!!!
I was first introduced to Clock Tower on Christmas Day of 1997. My stepdad had no clue what to get me for Christmas, so he randomly chose Clock Tower PS1. I ended up playing that game all day, giving myself nightmares that Christmas night.

This will get algorithmic traction, thanks to its' timely tie-in to the Spooky Season and Clocktower's Oct 29th release date.
The message is sound. The placement isn't terribly effective.
Prob because he's not known as a gaming channel
I mean the thing is you can tell that he is working with Limited Run Games, rather than do this video willingly. Considering the research in this video is quite bare bones, and he downplays how much a train wreck Nightcry was, I recommend tangomushi video if you want to know more about that game. Thanks. I appreciate it.
"I'm sorry, Miss. The lens cap was on. Would you mind throwing yourself at the floor again?"
I'm so happy Clock Tower is getting love again.
That was a fun one to watch,
I knew some of the history, but this told me so much more.
Well done.
Thanks!
I LOVE Phenomena!
Clocktower 1 (OG), Clock Tower 3 (PS2), and Haunting Ground will always hold a special place in my heart. Those games scared me and stressed me out more (in a good way) than most horror movies! Thanks for the memories, sir!
People, buy this game! Even though it's just a port, it may raise awareness for further official remakes.
As a big Kamen Rider fan I almost squeed with joy when you mentioned Kamen Rider Black.
Which h one?
I'd love if Cecil covered Kamen Rider ZO. It's only an hour long, and so rad/fun. Guyver movie fans should dig it.
@thomaspayton-tb9oj My favorite Kamen Rider is Riderman. I'm fact he's my all time favorite superhero.
Great to see you covering such an influential game as brilliantly as you do for movies
Thanks!
Glad to see you're keeping this series alive.
You do a really great job with this content too. I guess I shouldn’t be surprised. “Exploring” vids are always special. Must take a ton of research. Keep it up 👍🏻
Thanks! If you want to see more of this, help share it around to places you think would be interested. :)
Love the movie Phenomena, definitely gonna check out this game.
Would have been cool if it had Kinuko's art style to overlay the og graphics, but just glad it's an official US release finally. Great video!!
Thanks!
Excellent stuff Cecil!
There are tons of game reviewers out there but I love your own unique way of analysing and presenting your videos.
I really hope your gaming videos take off
Thanks! If you want to see more of this, help share it around to places you think would be interested.
Nice vid Cecil - this is one of those series that has always peeked my interest!
:)
I love a GBF exploring video but I really enjoy the rare videos covering classic games. I seriously want to play the classic game. I love Dario Argentos films and to see a game homaging them is quite brilliant. Such an original concept for its time too.

Great video! It's nice to see Clock Tower get some much love. I started playing it last night, it's a great port. Highly recommend.
Thanks!

I know you used to do movies a lot now you're starting doing games interesting.
I've been doing something game related about once a year for the past few years. Oh @@GoodBadFlicks
I loved this on the PlayStation. Thanks for the great piece on a classic series
This is a fantastic video and also Cecil I love all of your ideas for future game remasters Especially Sweet Home and Mizzourna Falls.
Thanks!
"Sweet Home" is an excellent idea! If you liked it, the late 1970s Japanese horror film "Housu" might appeal to you.
I am so happy clock tower is making a comeback
Great job on the video, Cecil. I know I missed out on a lot of horror games, since I only had a PC. Glad to hear that Clock Tower is getting a reboot for more gamers to appreciate it. It's always the best games that keep finding more fans.
Thanks!
"HAM!! The harbinger of gout and a scissorman's worst enemy."- JonTron
Best episode of JonTron.
People don't come over anymore.
Gotta be honest and say that I was expecting another classic deep dive into the movie Clock Tower, but was pleasantly surprised to see a video game historical review. I've never heard of either the movie or game, so this was great! Thanks for this and I hope you do more video game Explorings. Cheers!

I’ve been following your channel for a long time now and I have to say… this is one of the best videos you’ve ever made. Bravo Cecil. Bravo.
Thank you! This took a while to put together so I'm glad its appreciated. :)
Wow... TH-cam actually notified me about your upload...
Thank you in advance for the cool episode
Thanks for watching!
i love this upcoming remake. Like it's an old game that might not be mainstream or whatever. But simply all the love and respect it has is genuinely heartwarming
11:00 Wasn't expecting to hear about Infinite Space...ever, but cool!
You are very good at covering videogames! I love the plummers don't wear ties and the Faith video. But this one, oh boy. You really pull it off. Congratulations 👏
Thanks! If you want to see more of this, help share it around to places you think would be interested. :)
@GoodBadFlicks yeah 😎💪
I know it's gonna be a good day when I see a new GBF video pop up in my recommends. Great stuff as always, Cecil! Keep up the awesome work, bud!
Thanks!
I geeked so hard at the game’s announcement last year… and all my friends were like “What’s that??”
I LOVE the first two Clock Tower games. I’m glad to know that Rewind comes out tomorrow, because the official website still says “Fall 2024”. Thanks for the heads up. 👍
Loving your video game vids. If you’re taking suggestions for future Exploring videos, I’d recommend the Deception series.
Thanks! Funny, I'm playing Deception 4 right now. I've played them all, even Trapt!
Glad to see you put a video up on games again😊
I usually do about 1 a year.
Almost every reference and understanding I have of this game is how many people have talked about it being Phenomena in video game form
Clock tower is Very Unique And I don't use This word all the time there aren't a lot of Survival horror games that have a Slasher as a Child
Outstanding Exploring. Quite the deep dive.
Thanks!
An absolutely fantastic deep dive into a game I barely knew anything about. I had a huge crush on Jennifer Connelly when I was a kid lol. Great work as always GBF!
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it :)
thank you so much for reviewing. I loved the SNES Titel. the atmosphere, the different endings, the new horrors in each playthrough and the music. Will definetly look into the Rewind Game
Awesome vid! We need more game coverage! Your format of review and development history is top notch and I would love to see more about vidya gaems!
Thanks! If you want to see more of this, help share it around to places you think would be interested.
A great choice for the season and definitely has an interesting history behind it that very much is worth sharing with others
You should really do a video on Phenomena, the movie that inspired Clock Tower.
I haven't played any video games of any kind since my PS2 finally died, about 15 years ago...lol
I find video game culture amazing, and it's fascinating how popular gaming has become.
I've been mildly obsessed with this game ever since I first heard about it, but since it never released here I figured I'd just have to do without or watch other gamers do playthroughs. I'm honestly pretty stoked I'm finally gonna get to play it!
Now we are talking! Videos about games are a win-win for me!
:)
Great video Cecil! I'll never forget when I discovered Clock Tower while browsing ROM sites back in the 2000s and gave it a try and loved it! It's great that it is being officially released now.
Also, Getting a port of Sweet Home would be AMAZING

This was great! Had no idea this was coming out. Nice :) Happy Halloween everyone!
Great job, man. I’ve always been a fan, and can’t wait for a new crowd to enjoy it ✂️
Thanks :)
Yes! Please more goodbad games!
Earthbound were both given U.S. releases within the time of their initial Japan release dates.
wow, I never played the game and never will but this exploration was interesting and captivating from start to finish. Well done 👏
Thanks!
Even though video games have only been a lukewarm interest of mine in 55 years of life the "Exploring" episodes are always interesting to listen too.
Clocktower is the absolute scariest game to me. I played it waaay too young and all the sound effects are burned into my brain and triggers my fight or flight (in this games case just my flight response)
Deep Fear or Policenauts? Yes, yes please!
Thanks for the video, I did not know there was a clock tower remaster on the way.
Thanks for watching.
when i first saw this in my subfeed i didn't realize it was from Good Bad Flicks. Glad it caught my eye a couple of days later ^^
Cecil flexing his genius ovah here!
7:20 now THIS is a game that deserves its own video! Mizurna Falls is soooo ahead of its time... Fellow watchers - look it up. You won't be disappointed! It's like Twin Peaks crossed with GTA3 on Playstation 1!
Ordered the limited run physical copy so excited for it to arrive
Awesome!
No streaming but always appreciate an Exploring video 🤘🔥🔥🔥
Cant wait for my physical copy to arrive ❤
Thank you for introducing me to post apocalyptic B movies🥰.
You are welcome! Lots more to come
Don't forget to check the samurai armor.
Cant think of a better game for you to cover, keep em coming!!!!
Thanks!
:)
I really do miss your videos that's more gaming related, clock tower was some of the coolest thing ever I never got to play XD
Your disaster report video is till Goated tier man
Thanks!
great video, had no idea about this rerelease!
Clock Tower was such a creepy, underrated classic in the states.
I remember the hype around the PS1 version back in the day, and how it caused a bit of controversy out here where I live. But I actually had no idea it was such a big franchise! Thanks for the info! I'm going to check this out! =)
Excellent, great work as always
Thanks!
Great video....i really want to check this game out...
Thanks!
Another game that was HEAVILY inspired by Clock Tower was the most recent Five Nights at Freddy's game Into the Pit. It takes the franchise in the direction of pixel art adventure horror, and is spiritually a big love letter to Clock Tower.
"NOT... THE SCISSOR MAN!!!"
Everyone knows Scissors don't ACTUALLY exist!
JonTron still in our memories rent free
I DID NOT FACTOR IN THE WARP ABILITY!
I thought it was just Angus Young from AC/DC.
Oh, shit, wake up babes, new GoodBad Games just dropped. I love when you do these.
Thanks! If you want to see more of this, help share it around to places you think would be interested. :)
This video was a nice surprise. Thank you.
Thanks!
I saw a similar video on Dungeon Chill channel but I was really glad to see more lore and history that wasn't touch on it. Great research!
Coincidentally, Clock Tower 3 was my introduction to Kinji Fukasaku.
7:46 the guard looks like Mike Stoklasa. And the scissors look like the bone scissors from *Exorcist III*
honestly i know it is not in the horror wheel house but i would love to see wayforward handle something like the orginal Sakura Wars games.
Good Bad Games is back! ❤
I really would love a remake/outside japan release of "The fear"...❤
Just in time for lunch, outstanding Goodbadflicks!
This is the game that stated the whole run, hide and survive gimmick! No offence to games like Resident Evil and Silent Hill, and I love those franchises! Masterpieces! Don't get me wrong! This game franchise is between my most wanted on my videogame bucket list. Besides, is a great homage to classic Giallo films, but it is playable. I've always wanted to play this game. I have it pre-ordered at 'Limited Run'. I'm just waiting for my copy to come in!
I remember Splatterhouse!
I'm definitely getting this.
Now I see where Lazy Masquerade found that clip!
