Fun Fact: Dr. Krause (who had his fingers bitten by SharkMan) is played by Velizar Benz, a Bulgarian actor who also appeared in *"OCTOPUS"* (2000), *"SPIDERS II:* *Breeding Ground"* (2001), *"Shark Hunter"* (2001), *"OCTOPUS II:* *River of Fear"* (2001), *"PYTHON 2"* (2002), *"Shark Zone"* (2003), *"BOA vs PYTHON"* (2004), and many others.
First off, thanks for the Spy Vs. Spy reference, Cecil. The best reason to buy a MAD issue with my allowance. You did a great job with the commentary. I'm sure it helps with a film like this. It's not often that we get to see William Forsythe plan a heroic character.
Stellar cast. One of the few heroic roles of William Forsythe, who can play hammy villains to perfection. And don't forget that Feder was played by Arthur Roberts, famous for playing General von Esling in Command & Conquer: Red Alert. With a ridiculous german accent. 🤣
With Jeffery Combs being in makeup in so many rolls in Star Trek, hearing "Jeffery Combs was Dr King" made me spit take laugh more than it should have.
Oh man, I remember watching this a few times on the Sci-Fi Channel years ago. I kind of like it because it's so cheesy and honestly kind of fun in a schlocky way, and I don't know why but I still kind of wish that the monster had a soft spot for his old flame (mostly because the evil doctor was really serious about hooking them back together and he was making some progress in breeding a hybrid, and the leading lady still had some feelings for him; they could have shown him hesitating to attack her before the creature gets destroyed). If I see this thing in the bargain bin maybe I'll get it but I don't know if that will ever happen. All the same, thanks for covering this, Cecil.
I remember this on the Sci-Fi channel as "Hammerhead Shark Frenzy". I thought it was hilarious. Our hero was Tom the I.T. commando, the bad guy was wonderfully hammy, one survivor was so stupid she got killed by plants, and some of the dumbest henchmen in film history. Recommended for a watch with friends and beers.
Considering the Shark Man was the guy the main character was going to marry until he (seemingly) died of cancer, I was a little surprised they didn't hook up in the end and have a big happy shark family.
6:50 The death of SharkMan reminds me of the International Ending of *"JAWS: The Revenge"* (1987) where Papa Jaws gets stabbed and then blows up for no reason (completely different from the original U.S. Theatrical Ending - seen in early TV airings on AMC - where Papa Jaws simply gets stabbed to death).
I'd normally give B movie past the 00s a miss but you sold me on Jeffery Combs. I can watch anything with him in it. He also played Doctor Tillinghast in From Beyond, which I just watched recently.
Honestly I mostly know Jeffrey Combs for his VA stuff. He was Question in Justice League Unlimited, and Ratchet in Transformers Prime. Both excellent roles that really let him go ham.
7:40 I actually thought that was Lena Heady from (300,Terminator-The Sarah Connor Chronicles&Dredd) 8:07 Indeed a very underrated actor I always enjoyed him as ''Richie'' from ''Out For Justice'' ''ANYBODY SEEN RICHIE!! ANYONE KNOWS WHO DID BOBBY LUPO?''-Gino/Seagal91 I never heard of this film before Cecil I can see why LOL!! Another fantastic installment once again Cecil👍👍
Gotta see this, thought I saw all those Sci Fi channel movies and this with two of the greats. I swear William Forsyth looks younger here than he did in the eighties. Jeffrey Combs is such an overlooked talent, he deserves way more recognition. Despite the 👄 filler jokes Hunter Tylo will always be a super hottie in my book
Every time someone yells "DIE" at a creature and it dies, I get reminded of the Tomorrow war. "Did you just tell it to die?" "Yeah" "It worked. Why didn't you tell it sooner?" 😜
You will ever be that one YT bud for whom I put the like button first and then watch. :] Sadly the most 3D effects seemed to be very unessesary, 'cause a lot of practical effects where decent and good enough.
When I first saw a clip of Jeffrey Combs, in this review. I thought I'm definitely watching this. also it does look fun. thank you for the really good review, Cecil. :)
The scene where they use rockets to destroy houses that are very cutely decorated for Christmas is amazing. It blew my mind when I saw it as a kid. And then driving around the inside of the mall. It's just top notch all around. I might add that the truck in this movie is my platonic ideal of a truck.
It would be cool if some university somewhere gave Jeffrey Combs an honorary doctorate, just to fit with the general theme of his career.
Do they hand out honorary Ph.D.s for "Mad Science"?
If so, Combs deserves one, absolutely!
A Doctorate in Doctorology. META!
@@christophermerlot3366 That's fantastic
The Baby Shark Part was pure Gold.
It was!!!
Haha, right? The South Park reference/audio clip was great, too ("Funky Town" on the keypad - I'm thinking that was likely from SP?)
@@slipknotboy555 that was from the Towlie episode
"He points at a completely different movie" 😂😂😂
Jeff Combs has been a doctor in most of his movies that he deserves a doctorate degree for such feat.
My personal favorite is Jeff Combs as Doctor Mordrid.
Combs will always be Herbert West to me.
To me, he's Weyoun from Deep Space 9
"Jeffrey Combs is earning his paycheck"
He always does.
He made every episode of star trek he did special from annoying vorta to evil AI

William Forsythe will always be "Evelle" to me, John Goodman's inept but highly emotional criminal buddy in "Raising Arizona".
The FBI agent from Deuce Bigelow lol
I wanted to mention both these movies but you guys beat me to it, well done!
Looks like Flattop
Aaaaaarrrggghhhhh!!! Now I've got that baby shark song stuck in my head again!!!
The baby shark edit solidified your status of a genius Cecil!
I was going to ask why you were reviewing a movie made so recently before remembering 2005 was nearly 20 years ago 😭
....that can't be right. 😵
Now that you mentioned it in this video, you MUST DO “Lurking Fear”!!!
The Shark movie is truly a genre that will never die 🦈

Only the FINEST videos in the multiverse have Funky Town, Baby Shark and Psychostick songs all in one!
“At the Umbrella Corporation”
I don’t know man, think they’d have a nicer lab than this, they did miss out on hiring Jeffery Combs though.
At the very least, Umbrella's labs tend to be better lit.
And better janitorial staff too, seriously.
Jeffrey Combs makes any movie he's in worth watching.
This is like a horror version of Street Sharks.
"Sharkman: He bites! He fights! He kicks some serious fin!"
I'm not sure about "super serious" origin story for the Street Sharks.
Jeffrey Combs is in this!?! Ok...I'm sold!!!
I'm mad at you Cecil 2:28 for getting that damn song stuck in my head lol
Gotta move on!
I'm imagining the planning phase and the use of Baby Shark being nearly the FIRST thing that popped into your head.
Lmfao brandon dicamillo as beastman
That music video was trippin back in the day
That's what I thought I saw!
"Knock, knock. Land shark."
Omg, Brandon Dicamillo as Beastman! His best skit.

Dammit Beavis, this Nickelodeon crap has gone too far!
Love me some William Forsythe - but Jeffrey Combs? A-level always. LOVE that guy 🙂
Im not saying he’s type casted, but I’m curious HOW many evil scientist roles has Jeffrey combs played
I immediately thought of the Dr. Octagon song "Halfsharkalligatorhalfman" when I saw the title of this flick.
Damn you dirty sharks
Get your stinking fins off me you damn dirty sharks!
Jeffrey Combs is always good, regardless of how schlocky the movie is around him :)
Another Oscar worthy movie being explained 😂

I watched this front-to-end for the first time a few years ago, and I liked it a lot. Even though I can understand why others don't.
R.I.P. Gary Young, A.K.A. The Plant Man
Any movie where you have Dr. Herbert West and Flattop in the same scene is definitely worth watching!
Always liked William Forsythe, he could be in every movie they make as far as I’m concerned.
I was just thinking of that Beastman parody the moment you uploaded this and it kinda freaked me out to see you reference it in the first few seconds.
I literally just watched most of this like a week ago with my brother. Couldn’t finish it though.

One confusing thing I remember about the 2001 and this movie is, William Forsythe played a guy named Tom in both.
