If HeroQuest and Dungeon Saga had a love child, it would be Dungeon Saga Origins. 00:00 Intro 01:33 Core Game 16:32 Expansions 37:24 Game Play 55:40 Automated Overlord 1:01:18 Final Thoughts
Fantastic video. This is what a 'review' should be. Thanks for taking the time in being thorough with your explanations around the differences to the original DS and also comparing it to HeroQuest. Explaining in some detail the mechanics around this game was great as well. This is the Dungeon crawler I've been looking for to get the whole family involved.
Great review. I love this game as well. Could not agree more about your verdict and conclusion. DSO is a modern HeroQuest. A real "Exploration dungeon crawler" compared to the original "Race dungeon crawler".
Excellent overview. I really liked the original game. Some of Jake Thornton’s mechanics were really well thought out. My only reservation about this version is they seem to have dropped some of the rules to make it easier for the heroes. The main one, which didn’t really get mentioned here, is that heroes were originally forced to stop when they entered an enemy’s front arc. Now heroes can push through - albeit at the risk of a free attack, which rarely land at lower levels. As you mentioned, they’ve also dropped the -1 penalty for attacks whilst wounded. The heroes are already powerful enough (and can also revive) so these omissions are a bit generous and also affect some tactical thinking. Otherwise it looks great.
I have painted my copy and played a few games. Unsure about it at the moment but I need to spend more time with it? No complaints about the content, although large miniatures and small tile squares does create some minor issues. I don't think that the added plastic furniture is necessary and I haven't bothered with this so far. I will probably paint it to use in other games.
Hello, do you compare the miniatures of Dungeon Saga and Heroquest at one point in the video? Unfortunately I cannot watch the whole video and wanted to see how they look like next to each other. thanks!

This is probably the best video out there for Dungeon Saga Origins for a review. Great Job!

Great video, very informative, thank you! 👍👏 I’m pretty sure I will be getting this 😁
What are the lowest & highest number of dice for attack & defense? Enemies & Characters.

Thanks for your thorough review/explanation of DSO! 👍🏻
Is it mandatory to always play with 4 heroes?
Hello, Yes, it is designed for four heroes. However, it is quite manageable with this game.

I did not compare the minis for DSO and HQ, but that’s a good idea for a short video. Stay tuned.
