5 Simple Drone Movements to capture cinematic footage
Whats up you guys, in this video I want to share with you Simple Drone Movements to capture cinematic looking footage. In previous videos I shared with you how to dial in some key video settings to get the best quality but another big part of getting a great shot is using movement. I see a lot of beginner drone pilots making quick and jerky movements and it looks very robotic. I have found that you really don’t need to have complex movements to get nice shots, if you want you footage to look pro its best to use simple and controlled movements.
    - [ ] Push/Pull -Probably one of the simplest movements you can do but also one of the most used. Simple one joystick movement. Simple but effective. You can do this shot in tons of different situations to introduce a location. with this shot it also opens you up to add in a vertigo effect later in editing or even while flying if you drone has a zoom function. This is achieved by keeping the camera pointed straight ahead and using one joystick to go straight forward or straight backwards. You can put the controller in tripod or cini mode to get a smooth and slow controlled movement.
    - [ ] Rise up - like the push or pull shot this one is a one joystick move, no Gimble movement just rise up to reveal a location or subject. Great if you are rising up next to trees and can reveal a scene behind the mountains.
    - [ ] Birds Eye View - Simple as it sounds, this is flying and filming with the gimbal pointed straight down. You can get a unique perspective and have fun with it whether you track along with your subject, spin around or rise and lower this is a great simple shot to get.
    - [ ] Orbit- The orbit shot is awesome, it takes your shots to a new level and creates a nice parallax effect. This one’s a little more tricky because now you have to use both joysticks to fly this manually, or if your drone has smart flight modes you can select the orbit mode and it will get the shot for you. You want to keep your subject in the middle of the frame and rotate around it. To do this you take your joysticks and point them in opposite directions. You can put the controller in tripod or cini mode to get a smooth and slow controlled movement.
    - [ ] Reveal- Start with the Gimble pointed down and as you move forward or backwards rise up with the Gimble and reveal - this one is a little tricky because you have to control the Gimble speed and one or both of the joysticks but really cool when you get it to work right. This one may take a few tries to figure out the speed you want the camera to rise.

Nice one Devin. Very good example of these great shots. As you've shown the key to an interesting drone video is to vary the moment between your shots. Great new intro too by the way. Some lovely scenery there. 04:53 is one I use all the time too.

I like your video ( I have new drone Mavic air 2 fly more combo ) if you can explain more about shot technically on field. It will be nice of you. No body does video on field and explain at the same time. All of video talks in office only. Thanks . 🙏🤲
