    100000% correct brother....please PIN this comment and look at the link I share to Ernest Jones, who taught Manuel's father, who in turn both taught Manuel, by him watching and listening to his dad and Ernest....Ernest figured all this out after losing his leg from knee down during WW I....read ALL carefully what's said on his wiki link here, Especially the bit about his conversation with Horton Smith, Masters 1st & 3rd winner who then went on to be PGA President......Ernest also wrote an instructional book, titled "Swing the Clubhead"
    en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ernest_Jones_(golfer) Ernest was shooting scores in the low 70s on only 1 leg on old tough courses with hickory shaft clubs too mind you!!!!! Jones also taught many of the hickory era players greats, such as Virginia Van Wie & Glenna Collett-Vare who are both still ranked among the top women golfers to ever played the game, Lawson Little and many, many more...the part I found Most interesting was what Horton Smith said to Jones after learning how truly simple Jones' methods are/were and what Smith told Jones about PGA teaching professionals NOT having work, if people truly knew how Simple golf can and should be!

      Thanks so much for the comments and kudos. Check out a the video I put out with Swing the Clubhead in the title. At least I think it was last year..... or maybe 2 years ago, lol. I love the Ernest Jones story and how it traveled through other teachers like Manuel and his dad. Great stuff.

      @@GolfTestDummy i will go into your uploads and search for that video brother! What still blows me away is what Ernest was doing indoors way back then @ only $5 per lesson and how many lessons he was giving to people vs all the other teachers and what Horton Smith told him....which is why 99% of all golfers have way over complicated the game! Another part of his story is the scores he was able to shoot 2 rounds after losing his leg....yet today look how few can shoot in the low 70s with both legs! If that's not proof his methods work far better....i dunno what is? Off to look through your vids for that one! Thank you for all you do and share on your channel here too...kudos to you 👊

    I stumbled across MDLT video last Monday and loved it because I am an over analysis type of golfer. I have many different golf swings that I use my necklace method, my Ben Hogan method, my Bobby Jones method each one will work for a while then it goes south and I switch to another. But watching his video was eye-opening for me so I downloaded his book on Kindle. Three days later I go with my buddy to the golf course and I decide to keep my mind clear and only swing the Manuel method. I hit 12 out of 14 fairways. I hit drawls for the first time in 20 years. My long irons were fantastic. My only issue I was having was 789 iron full shots. I was drawling the ball too much. So while I’m searching for more videos on him, I came across your site and I’m so glad I did.

    Expectations would be the key word . There is nothing wrong with wanting to be a decent weekend golfer. Easy effortless and not thinking too much can get you there. If being decent at the game is your goal then great. Just being decent at this game is not enough for some. The game to me is like a drug. I can never get enough . Even with a thorough knowledge of the golfswing I find myself looking time and time again for confirmation of my understanding. Like the weekend golfer there is nothing wrong with this mindset. Whatever makes you happy . To me it is the never ending journey to improvement. De~leitour can only take you so far.

    I have dabbled with Easiest Swing (Brian Sparkes), Channel Lock and JGV swing. I am quite competent at them all despite being 89 years old.
    However I have introduced one protocol of my own with all swings and it is this. I always pick a spot about l inch in front of the ball and stare at this all the way through impact.I only think of this one swing thought when I am over the ball. No swing thoughts at all while swinging. Just keep my eye one inch in front of the ball. IT WORKS every time -for me. The instructions and protocols for all 3 swings have been easy to learn but the only
    protocol which works with the established ones for me is this one which I use without fail. Loving to see you back Chad.,thoroughly enjoy your honest
    advi9ce and comments. Hope you and your family are well and safe.

    The K.I.S.S. method is always best, but it’s easier said than done. Kudos to your wife for having the external thought of where she wants the ball to go and swinging in that direction. I’m like you, I analyze the hell out of things, so my brain is constantly racing swing thoughts searching for the perfect positions, which, of course, screws me up. I’m currently working on just thinking about a timing count of 1 - 2. So far so good. It does eliminate all of those unnecessary swing thoughts that can and will ruin your swing. Keep improving brother.

    Nice video. Along these lines, I am glad your Wife is enjoying it and getting excited to play. I taught my Wife to play about six years ago. All my Buddies were telling me it was a mistake, but it's been the best thing I ever did. She picked it up fast, I basically taught here Stack and Tilt, and she can score in the 80's regularly. We play in tournaments and beat the guys all the time. I also have a great partner to play with when we go on vacations. We base our vacations on were we want to play golf now. I not only have my partner for the rest of my life, but also my golf partner for the rest of my life! Been married 32 years by the way. Hope things are headed that way for you and your Wife.

    There's definitely setup and swing things that if not done properly, would prevent a person from ever developing their skill past a 20 hcp.

    • @GolfTestDummy
      @GolfTestDummy  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I can definitely agree with that. I would say though, that the "musts" in the setup are probably pretty broad. Like, balance. You need to be balanced. But how each person gets balanced can be affected by a lot of factors. So balance would be a must, but it would be hard to break it down much further without excluding a decent segment of the population. But there are some really skilled players that keep the majority of their weight on their left foot as a form of balance, whereas others find high skill levels with their weight 50/50. Of course there are always anomalies and outliers that seem to break the rules, but you're absolutely right. Getting past a certain level usually requires the fundamentals in a general sense.

    I have thought about making videos for years after doing the typically taught one plane and cover the ball, to stack and tilt, could never get past my 15 handicap. This year I got tired of 18 swing thoughts and 20 range drills to feel something that is typically everyone's practice swing lol. I have dropped to a 12 handicap not bad amd still getting better. I have a few questions.... my thought is right hand take away keeping the elblw tight and then I swing with my left tricep toward the target. What is your feels you have. 2nd I do struggle to hit driver with this mentality though. I play a cut but sometimes creeps into a slice, what shot shape do you seen played most with the MDLT method?

    • @GolfTestDummy
      @GolfTestDummy  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I've always played a fairly straight ball, favoring a draw, naturally, always. I'm not sure why, but it just fits me. My feels right now can be boiled down to simply making a swing, not a hit, that bottoms out at the right spot. That's it. That simplicity has changed my game greatly.

    Conventional or unconventional golf swings ... the ones who promote them think they’ve found the right swing for us all but what they’ve found is what works for them and maybe just for that time and guess what ...there right ... they all work
    They all move the ball
    Just like your bride before you started to help her get
    “better “ she let her natural ability strike the ball and Im sure with time and without outside interference she would adapt to her irons and the other clubs
    She’s letting her bodies natural movement ...move
    Proper setup with the joints in the proper position swing a club is like watching...Iron Byron
    It’s all in the bones and how they move ...naturally

    Hi Chad. Your wife has the best idea for certain and her swing should naturally evolve if she does not overcomplicate things for herself.
    Our bones and joints push and provide direction as our muscles can only pull and supply energy in everything we do in life; whether in a golf swing or walking we must simply stay balanced and do either. Right!
    So my 2 swing thoughts are 1 to simple push back with my lead forearm for my backswing and then 2 push harder forward with my lead forearm for my downswing. Tik/TOK That is it! And then I know for certain that all the dominoes will fall into place as well as the ‘Holy Grail’ at the top of my downswing. That’s not over complicating things; is it? ❤️⛳️😃👍Cheers
