John Hancock became an immediate hero of mine. I also have every single US released Dreamcast game. It is an honor of mine to share this trait with you.
The reason Capcom supported the Dreamcast so heavily is that the Dreamcast basically ran on a modified version of Sega's NAOMI arcade hardware which a lot of Capcoms games used: Marvel Vs. Capcom 2, Cannon Spike, Capcom vs Snk, Giga Wing 2, Heavy Metal Geomatrix, Project Justice, Power Stone 1 and 2 and Spawn all used it so it was very easy for them to port games over, and could also support games like Street Fighter III 3rd Strike, Mars Matrix, and others easily because of the sheer power the system offered, the Ps1 and N64 just did not do very good arcade ports at the time because Arcade hardware was generally more advanced until the Dreamcast came along and offered up a system that was just as advanced as the arcade units of the time.
I loved (still love) Armada. A good friend and I spent countless hours playing that one, trying to find an end of the universe - or at least the end of the map. Never did.
Some of my favorite "hidden gems" on the Dreamcast (excluding the ones in this video) include: Zombie Revenge, Blue Stinger, Floigan Bros., Maken X, Dynamite Cop, 18 Wheeler, 4 Wheel Thunder, and Tokyo Bus Guide. The Dreamcast is pretty much entirely made up of hidden gems!
A lot of the reason the Dreamcast had so many arcade style games was because it shared hardware with the Sega Naomi arcade platform so ports didn't take much to do. Also, I did play through halflife on the dreamcast and can tell you it's just difficult to deal with the load times. That's absolutely no reason to play it on there. I must have played Armada with my younger brother over 100 hours. That game was awesome. here's a few other lesser talked about games I really enjoyed: Elemental Gimmick Gear (a lot more people are mentioning this one lately) Gundam Side Story 0079 (let someone borrow this once, got it back ruined, pretty upset about it still) JoJo's Bizarre Adventure Maken X Star Lancer Super Magnetic Neo Heavy Metal Geomatrix Wetrix+ Psychic Force 2012 Ooga Booga Floigan Brothers GunLord (look it up) Alien Front Online Evil Twin (hard to find now, PAL only, PC version is way cheaper) Segagaga(If you don't mind having to find subtitles or can read Japanese)
i was just about to post this, it's funny how alot of people don't know about the sega naomi board. literally everything capcom made after the cps3 was on naomi. fun fact. the naomi is still used today
Thanks guys. I picked up a broken Dreamcast at a fleamarket three years ago that was easy to repair. Its a total shame that the system spent its newly found life in a closet pretty much ever since. These videos will give me some ideas what to do with it. Cant wait for the other episodes!
I don't understand how people could call this "hoarding." His game room is immaculate. He plays all the stuff he owns & is quite fanatical about game content & gameplay ...hoarders would be going on about how much a game is perceivably worth & what they paid for it, and not really care if the game was worth playing. To all the people bitching about him being a hoarder, all I can say is, *_jealous much?_* I've seen game hoarders & this guy is not a hoarder. Heavy collector, sure. Besides, if you don't like what he's doing, just leave. The only reason people bitch & whine in the comments is jealousy.
Three things could've saved Sega. * Better marketing * DVD technology *Anti-Piracy protection on the first models of the Dreamcast. Dreamcast is still my favorite console of all time, and mine is at my brother's house. Need to call this dude.
@Zeksteve What killed them was developing the 32x at the same time the Saturn was being developed. Because of that head banging between Sega of America and Japan, people lost faith in Sega. Turns out that the 32X and the Saturn were both utter disappointments. People get burned, they tend to start looking at the competition. Under powered system? Not by much compared to the PS1 and N64. Those arcade ports on the Dreamcast are golden and unmatched by it's generation of competition. It wasn't until the PS2 was in its 2nd year did it even have games that looked as good as the best Dreamcast arcade ports. Having a DVD wouldn't of made much difference, they were already going to be dead in the hardware area.
You're wrong about the marketing part. Sega has always had great marketing especially the dreamcast. Where they screwed up is piss poor management from Sega of Japan
I'm in a gaming group with John Hancock on Facebook (being that I live in the Cowlitz area), seeing that you're a relatively local collecting legend is awesome!
there is always at least one character in most of those types of manga that have hench massive swords, long before any of these ideas. can't have a bad ass character without a hench fuck off sword... or gun sword...or mech... apparently...
I would say Cannon Spike and Skies of Arcadia aren't really hidden gems, because they're games that you HAVE to know about in order to be allowed to call yourself a gamer.
I don't know what your definition of a gamer is but I know people who consider themselves to be gamers and all they do is play video games night and day. They're fat, lazy, smell bad and rarely get out. Is that something to brag about or are they the extreme?
Well, Cannon Spike isn't much really a "Hidden Gems", back in the day it had awful ratings (like 3/10 on the official Dreamcast Magazine, not kidding, they called the game as boring, etc...), so only a handfull of people bought it (it remained for years at my local video game store, and price kept on lowering), it's not a good game at all, pretty mediocre at that, but since it's rare, the price skyrocketed and it now cost 150bucks for a game no one even wanted back then.
hey metal jesus the reason for so many Capcom arcade games was because they were from the Sega Naomi Arcade System which was basically a dreamcast with a bit more ram and that made it very easy to port those games. Giga Wing 2 was one of those Naomi ports. Mars Matrix and Giga Wing 1 were ports from Capcoms CPS2 arcade system.
I have owned one since Christmas 99 UK Gamer! First and only Sega Console I bought during it's life cycle!! Started collecting mega drive Saturn master system and Game gear once support had ceased for them systems as had a sense but always wanted a megadrive really too!
MrDeathSmiles I play Grandia 2 in its day n loved it, and still love it now. I tried playin some Skies and it was well made but i didnt really get into the story. I didnt get particularly far. People often say its one of the best rpgs if not the best on DC, so im sure it picks up, but so far definitely have to say Grandia 2 made a a way stronger impression for me. That character's and dialogue, music and plot, and that awesome fighting system (which i think i would say is the best jrpg fighting style ever) all combined to make it amazing. What do you love about Skies?
lol very subjective. Evolution is a game i remember extremely fondly, but I think it was a case of sheer charm overshadowning its technical....lack of finesse let's say. The dungeons beign randomized were suuuuper simplistic. The more i think of that game the more i feel i loved it for its character. But overall, Grandia 2, and i think Skies too probably, were better in terms of actual gameplay. The pirate theme also didnt speak to me too much personally, at least not in the way it was done, likely because they never felt like pirates. they felt like heroes n good guys, at least to the point i got too. I should probably give it another go
Played through both Grandia 2 and Skies back around 2001. I really enjoyed Grandia, but Skies blew me away. They shouldn't be compared though, quite different rpgs. What I loved about Skies of Arcadia might be something other people hated, the ability to just wander in a vast expanse and find your next destination, rather than a more straightforward path. Same reason I loved Suikoden IV even though there wasn't much to that game if played straight through. Same reason I was blown away in subsequent years by GTA 3 and beyond. I love the open realm.
That sounds interesting, I really didnt get that far in it. The story and characters are my primary focus especially in an rpg, and I wasnt getting hooked enough early on to get to those better parts. I do wanna give it more of a try tho. Playing it on an imperfect emulator didnt help either :/
Man I was so excited to see a Dreamcast hidden Gems video from you this morning. Especially with John Hancock being the special "sega boss man" guest. Can't wait to see the next 2 parts. I can already guess some titles, fatal fury: Mark of the wolves, seaman, maybe even Stupid Invaders. Awesome video, I really hope you consider making a Sega Saturn hidden Gems....of course with John Hancock. Sweeet stuff
The Dreamcast is the first console that really made a true arcade port on a home console a reality. It was essentially the exact same technology as what was inside the Sega arcade cabinets at the time. So many great ports wound up on this console and I was so sad when it was discontinued by Sega. This is one of my top 5 consoles of all time.
PAL DC cases, like PAL Playstation cases, are too bulky and fragile. I'd much rather have standard CD size cases like the US versions, much easier to store and replace.
The reason there were so many great arcade ports of fighters and shooters on the Dreamcast is because the system is pretty much a home version of Sega's Naomi arcade board.
It was released as Half Life gold wasn't it? I think it was. My personal pick is Super Magnetic Neo. A game NO ONE knows about. The magnetic gimmick was fun, the platforming was smooth and in my eyes it holds up today.
I just finished the video and found out it wasn't released. WooHoo! I own an unreleased game. I own two versions now. And the dreamcast one is favourable compared to the PS2 version in my opinion.
TrostUA No one I knew had ever played it!!!!! It was so good but so hard. When I was a kid I beat it though which was a fine, fine day. I still own my VMA with that save on now...
i stay up some night's wondering where my day one dreamcast ended up...is it safe? is it happy? are you appreciated....? I'm so sorry, i should of given you more of a chance, i hate the ps2 more everyday with videos like these.....Thanks!
Capcom games were so prolific on the Dreamcast because of the agreement they had with Sega involving their NAOMI arcade hardware. Since the Dreamcast was basically an arcade board brought home, it only made sense to port to it vs. the PS1/PS2.
Ali Salim I thought it came out the same time as the PS1/N64? I could swear i had a dreamcast when I still lived in connecticut which was before the PS2 came out.
Shelves full of Dreamcast games, I remember those days. Grabbed Bleem, and played Tekken 3, Metal Gear Solid and Gran Turismo 2 on this console, I loved the enhanced graphics.
***** Not sure why you think that a short lifetime can't make a system underrated, i would think the shorter the more underrated it would be. If it was hugely popular it would have had a long life time and thus not be underrated (because it's hugely popular, see how that works??) Anyway, it did last more than a year (the post says a year MORE), but even if it didn't that's how amazing the library was... it's still my favorite 3d console because of the wealth of fun and ground breaking titles: first online action game (Phantasy Star Online), first online sports game (NFL 2K), first cartoon rendered game (Jet Set Radio), first motion control game (Samba De Amigo), first voice activated game (Seaman)... on top of the games that were just drop dead fun Virtual On, Cosmic Smash, Mars Matrix, Power Stone, Skies of Arcadia, Shen Mue, Cool Cool Toon, Chu Chu Rocket, Space Channel 5, Zombie Revenge, COnfidential Mission, Rival Schools, Sega Rally 2, Pyshic Force 2012, Zero Gunner 2, Rez, etc, etc, etc, etc... basically the Dreamcast death was the end of true gaming innovation, I'm sure there was some groundbreaking innovation that happened after, but i can't think of it.
***** Dreamcast came out in 1998, but was officially discontinued in producton in 2001, however official support for great titles continued until 2002 (Like Sonic Adventure 2). You can't simply measure sales of the product, some products are overlooked for various reasons like supbar marketing.
DjDedan He thinks of only following the other sheep. If others don't like it, then why should he. That seems to be his logic. It is better to judge stuff for oneself rather than follow the huge mainstream marketing and sheep herd following. Guess some people do not have the ability to think outside of the box.
That sounds awesome as hell! I saw them in Vagos Open Air festival. The crowd sucked. Me and my friend were trying to form a mosh pit but most people would just look at us like we were bothering them. What the hell? It was a metal concert...oh well. The concert you went must have been amazing though.
+Bruno Silva Yea, I saw them at a really small club in Providence, RI. So small the stage was practically ground level. It was a tour where they played they're more mellow stuff but once Face of Melinda came on it was epic.
I could go on forever about the Dreamcast. I'd add to the list StarLancer, Illbleed, dragon rider, dragons blood, wacky racers (trust me on that one), the nomad soul, floigan brothers (bit short), Chicken Run, Record lodoss war and Silver. I've probably forgot a bunch.
6:04.... dont make me laugh :P The Berserk Manga was released 9 years "BEFORE" Final Fantasy 7, and Guts's Sword has nothing to do with Final Fantasy at all...
I agree that the Dreamcast console itself is a "hidden gem" lol. I cannot believe how many people skipped over this console back in its hay day. I remember right before it came out... a few of the launch titles were actually available for sale at my local mall before the system even came out (9/9/99)! I remember buying 4-5 games before the system was even released because I was so excited for it lol. I think unwashed in 9th grade at the time and my mom let me skip that day of school and drove my buddy and I to the mall to pick it up right when the store opened at like 10am (I think the store was called Babbages at the time, then Software Etc then finally turned into a GameStop) I have some great memories of ready 2 rumble, crazy taxi, sonic adventures 1 and 2, free style I think it was called? and many others... I actually just picked up a Dreamcast from craigslist last week . 1 controller with ready2rumble, sonic 1, and wwf attitude I think it is? with 1 controller, all the cables, and the consoles original box all for $30. which I thought was very reasonable. I didn't even haggle with him lol
whoops just noticed a typo. I meant, "i think I WAS IN 9TH GRADE". not sure how "unwashed" got in there and couldn't find how to edit on android. sorry for the confusion.
I remember playing Tech Romancer at my local arcade Nickel City in the late 90's. Completely forgot about this one. Spent many hours and many nickles on that machine. I recently got nulldc up and running and I can't wait to take this game for a spin. Holy nostalgia
I'm sure someone has already said it, but the dreamcast has so many arcade ports because it is based on the Naomi arcade system. Many of the games seen here were released on both.
I, too, am a big fan of the Dreamcast. Sega should not have given up on it so early! Just want to say I am glad to subscribe to your channel. You certainly know your stuff and it amazes me that, sometimes, I go "well I didn't know that!! Metal Jesus, you rock!!
Thanks for doing the Dreamcast hidden gem collection I love it.Pleaseee in your next video show ZERO GUNNER 2 and STURMWIND I want people all over the world to know about this incredible shooters. Thanks
I also got a copy of Propeller Arena back in the day, it's a fantastic game. All the fun of prop airplanes dogfighting, but without all of the realistic physics which makes simulators a bit dull.
I've never owned a dreamcast, but I remember going to a buddy's house and playing this great game where you play as a toy tank, or plane, or helicopter and fought each other.
I've been playing propeller arena for along time, and its the best flying arcade shooter ever at that point in time for any system. Sad that a lot of people haven't played it.
MJR , Love the channel. Just started collecting for the Dreamcast and love it!!! Love the shoot'em ups and the Arcade ports are fantastic! I think that it's also cool that independent companies are still producing games for the console. Great video, keep the content coming!
maan been watching your chanel a while now then it occured to me that i never saw much about the dreamcast. but of course you guys got it covered too! thanks!
Skies of Arcadia is definitely a gem I remember playing and had a blast with it. One of many great RPG's I've played over the years. Btw, adding comments as I'm viewing the vids. A must buy for Dreamcast RPG fans.
There is a Dreamcast CIB at my local game store for $35. It's been sitting there for a while. I never owned one but I'm thinking that'll be mine eventually. I know there's a lot of great titles on there. Can't wait to start collecting for it.
I love Skies of Arcadia. I have both the Dreamcast and Gamecube versions. I still need to play the Gamecube remake, to compare with the original Dreamcast version I played years ago. I also never played my copy of Sword of the Berserk, so it was good to see a good word about that. I have so many games in my collection that there's many I still need to check out. Thanks for this vid.

It's still alive and it's amazing. I'm getting a dream pi and getting it online soon.

Skies of Arcadia makes it onto lists of the best JRPGs of all-time, and ALWAYS is on best DC game lists.
I second Cannon Spike. It was really a lot of fun.
I would also recommend Dynamite Cop.
That fact that John has a working copy of Half Life on the Dreamcast astounds me, especially because of where he found it. :)

The reason Capcom supported the Dreamcast so heavily is that the Dreamcast basically ran on a modified version of Sega's NAOMI arcade hardware which a lot of Capcoms games used: Marvel Vs. Capcom 2, Cannon Spike, Capcom vs Snk, Giga Wing 2, Heavy Metal Geomatrix, Project Justice, Power Stone 1 and 2 and Spawn all used it so it was very easy for them to port games over, and could also support games like Street Fighter III 3rd Strike, Mars Matrix, and others easily because of the sheer power the system offered, the Ps1 and N64 just did not do very good arcade ports at the time because Arcade hardware was generally more advanced until the Dreamcast came along and offered up a system that was just as advanced as the arcade units of the time.
and thank god for that man this is why i love dreamcast the arcade games
The Dreamcast and Saturn are home to some of the best arcade ports of all time.
I loved (still love) Armada. A good friend and I spent countless hours playing that one, trying to find an end of the universe - or at least the end of the map. Never did.
John Hancock seems like the nicest most knowledgeable guy.
Thank you for your kind words :).
"its got arthur in it" - me a millennial immediately pictures the aardvark from PBS kids.
HE'S AN AARDVARK?
@@postalatom9056 yep
And me, from Generation X, was thinking he meant the Dudley Moore movie.
i'm happy you included Skys of Arcadia on here. One of my favorite childhood games.
Friday is the best day of the week because....
1. It's Friday
2. A new Metal Jesus Rocks video :)
Come on guys Cannon Spike is awesome because didnt just have Arthur it had freaking MEGAMAN!
That game was awesome.
here's a few other lesser talked about games I really enjoyed:
Elemental Gimmick Gear (a lot more people are mentioning this one lately)
Gundam Side Story 0079 (let someone borrow this once, got it back ruined, pretty upset about it still)
JoJo's Bizarre Adventure
Maken X
Star Lancer
Super Magnetic Neo
Heavy Metal Geomatrix
Wetrix+
Psychic Force 2012
Ooga Booga
Floigan Brothers
GunLord (look it up)
Alien Front Online
Evil Twin (hard to find now, PAL only, PC version is way cheaper)
Segagaga(If you don't mind having to find subtitles or can read Japanese)
i was just about to post this, it's funny how alot of people don't know about the sega naomi board. literally everything capcom made after the cps3 was on naomi. fun fact. the naomi is still used today
People will find anything to bitch about. Don't let it get to you.
I'mNotCharlesBarkley SoDon'tBanMe good point
***** the bear necessities
WorldWideGameTube
He uses what he has, hoarders don't
Glad to see more Giga Wing, Mars Matrix and Cannon Spike love. I'm close to 100 games in my Dreamcast collection.
Three things could've saved Sega.
* Better marketing
* DVD technology
*Anti-Piracy protection on the first models of the Dreamcast.
Dreamcast is still my favorite console of all time, and mine is at my brother's house. Need to call this dude.
Supah Bluu did you ever get your dreamcast back?
The Marketing was very good and the Dreamcast indeed sell. What killed it was Sony's announcement of the PS2.
@@ForeverLacey09 you're wrong bud
Berserk had that big Sword style first... 1989 Manga :P
He said FFVII made it popular, not that FFVII invented it...
Teflon Vaughn If Berserk would be something small i would agree but its good chance that FF maker took it from there...a popular Manga after all.
there is always at least one character in most of those types of manga that have hench massive swords, long before any of these ideas. can't have a bad ass character without a hench fuck off sword... or gun sword...or mech... apparently...
LOVE Tech Romancer, got with the Dreamcast bundle I purchased a few years back and couldn't believe how absolutely bonkers it was!
We reeeeeally need an update on Dreamcast hidden gems, Metal Jesus. It’s been 10 years! Do iiiiit!
Berserk took the huge sword from FF7 and ran with it? lol. Its more like the other way around. Berserk Manga started in the 80s.
hey metal jesus the reason for so many Capcom arcade games was because they were from the Sega Naomi Arcade System which was basically a dreamcast with a bit more ram and that made it very easy to port those games. Giga Wing 2 was one of those Naomi ports. Mars Matrix and Giga Wing 1 were ports from Capcoms CPS2 arcade system.
I still own a Dreamcast since Christmas 2000.
I luv my Dreamcast so much!!!!!
+Max Payne (M.P. fan) I got mine at a second hand video game shop over a decade later. :P
only system I have 4 controllers for. a 30 rack of pbr, 3 friend and unreal 3 and you have yourself a great fucking night
I have owned one since Christmas 99 UK Gamer! First and only Sega Console I bought during it's life cycle!! Started collecting mega drive Saturn master system and Game gear once support had ceased for them systems as had a sense but always wanted a megadrive really too!
Another brilliant video. It's always great to see John Hancock... Thanks for getting him on MetalJesus!
Im not sure where your neck ends and where your head begins. Not hating, just fascinated from a scientific standpoint. Keep up the good work!
Thankyou for doing a dreamcast episode. This was great. Can't wait to see the follow up episodes
DREAMCAST itself is a hidden gem!
My fav show. There’s something with metal Jesus that’s makes me keep watching he’s show.
3 seconds in....... I WANT THAT SHIRT!!!!
Yeah, sick Cowlitz Gamers Shirt.
I love these episodes....i only had 2 of the games mentioned this time....Sword of the Berserk and Skies of Arcadia
Great list, I wouldn't really consider Skies of Arcadia a hidden gem though.
Sweeet stuff
the dremcast is a hidden gem. ^^
I need these games. Cannon Spike looks amazing! I will say this though... our PAL DreamCast cases are sooo much nicer ;)
PAL DC cases, like PAL Playstation cases, are too bulky and fragile. I'd much rather have standard CD size cases like the US versions, much easier to store and replace.
A Beatemups comment from 6 years ago, nice
it's weird that 7 years later a comment by someone with 1 mil subs only has 2 likes lol
Just download the roms and burn them on a cd-r and they will play just like a regular dc disc
Cannon Spike is a very shitty game.
The reason there were so many great arcade ports of fighters and shooters on the Dreamcast is because the system is pretty much a home version of Sega's Naomi arcade board.
Given the popularity of Half Life I wonder if it could have saved the system had it actually been released.
Jude Palmer
Nostalgia overflow. Right in them feels. I played the Magnetic Neo on Dreamcast.
TrostUA No one I knew had ever played it!!!!! It was so good but so hard. When I was a kid I beat it though which was a fine, fine day. I still own my VMA with that save on now...
It was leaked online. All it needed was a fix for the growing save file and it would be complete
John looks like Richard Karn, Frank Fritz & Billy Mays all rolled into one haha, (which is aweome) love all your hidden gems series btw!
i stay up some night's wondering where my day one dreamcast ended up...is it safe? is it happy? are you appreciated....?
I'm so sorry, i should of given you more of a chance, i hate the ps2 more everyday with videos like these.....Thanks!
Loving the Planescape: Torment poster in the background! The dreamcast is probably my favourite console.
That fairy made me uncomfortable...
Capcom games were so prolific on the Dreamcast because of the agreement they had with Sega involving their NAOMI arcade hardware. Since the Dreamcast was basically an arcade board brought home, it only made sense to port to it vs. the PS1/PS2.
Wow the dreamcast had much MUCH better graphics then the PS1 or N64.
obviously .. its from the sixth generation (ps2 and xbox also in that category)
Ali Salim I thought it came out the same time as the PS1/N64? I could swear i had a dreamcast when I still lived in connecticut which was before the PS2 came out.
yes it was released before the ps2 by 2 years
With a VGA hookup it looks much better than the Ps2 and the Xbox (despite coming out before both of them)
PokeFraker Where can I get a VGA from?
Shelves full of Dreamcast games, I remember those days.
Grabbed Bleem, and played Tekken 3, Metal Gear Solid and Gran Turismo 2 on this console, I loved the enhanced graphics.
Sucks that the Dreamcast couldn't at least have gotten a year or so more of lifetime :( One of the most underrated systems ever.
Underrated when it didn't even last a year?lmao.
***** Not sure why you think that a short lifetime can't make a system underrated, i would think the shorter the more underrated it would be. If it was hugely popular it would have had a long life time and thus not be underrated (because it's hugely popular, see how that works??)
Anyway, it did last more than a year (the post says a year MORE), but even if it didn't that's how amazing the library was...
it's still my favorite 3d console because of the wealth of fun and ground breaking titles: first online action game (Phantasy Star Online), first online sports game (NFL 2K), first cartoon rendered game (Jet Set Radio), first motion control game (Samba De Amigo), first voice activated game (Seaman)... on top of the games that were just drop dead fun Virtual On, Cosmic Smash, Mars Matrix, Power Stone, Skies of Arcadia, Shen Mue, Cool Cool Toon, Chu Chu Rocket, Space Channel 5, Zombie Revenge, COnfidential Mission, Rival Schools, Sega Rally 2, Pyshic Force 2012, Zero Gunner 2, Rez, etc, etc, etc, etc... basically the Dreamcast death was the end of true gaming innovation, I'm sure there was some groundbreaking innovation that happened after, but i can't think of it.
***** Dreamcast came out in 1998, but was officially discontinued in producton in 2001, however official support for great titles continued until 2002 (Like Sonic Adventure 2). You can't simply measure sales of the product, some products are overlooked for various reasons like supbar marketing.
DjDedan
He thinks of only following the other sheep. If others don't like it, then why should he. That seems to be his logic. It is better to judge stuff for oneself rather than follow the huge mainstream marketing and sheep herd following. Guess some people do not have the ability to think outside of the box.
For a SHMUP, Mars Matrix was surprisingly deep. And +1 for mentioning Armada. To this day, I still play it.
I saw Opeth live!
I saw Opeth live a few years ago in a small club in Seattle. They blew the doors off the place! They were awesome live.
I've not seen Opeth yet, but I saw Ne Obliviscaris a few weeks ago at a local venue.
Though I'll be seeing Amon Amarth on Monday :)
I went through two of the consoles back in the day....it was an amazing machine!
Is is just me, or is that Hancock guy a little eerie?
I could go on forever about the Dreamcast. I'd add to the list StarLancer, Illbleed, dragon rider, dragons blood, wacky racers (trust me on that one), the nomad soul, floigan brothers (bit short), Chicken Run, Record lodoss war and Silver. I've probably forgot a bunch.
6:04.... dont make me laugh :P The Berserk Manga was released 9 years "BEFORE" Final Fantasy 7, and Guts's Sword has nothing to do with Final Fantasy at all...
Blue stinger , Illbleed , D2 , Rent a hero , Naple Tale and Shenmue 1&2 are my all time fave Dreamcast games , play them all once a year,
Can you be more awkward at all?
I love the Dreamcast, such a huge and varied game library for a system that was discontinued a little over 2 years later.
John Hancock always has this big smile on his face. Super knowledgeable, super approachable, great insights.
I live and die by the repro, don’t let Billy Mays keep you from buying bootlegs kids!
lol
I agree that the Dreamcast console itself is a "hidden gem" lol. I cannot believe how many people skipped over this console back in its hay day.
I remember right before it came out... a few of the launch titles were actually available for sale at my local mall before the system even came out (9/9/99)! I remember buying 4-5 games before the system was even released because I was so excited for it lol.
I think unwashed in 9th grade at the time and my mom let me skip that day of school and drove my buddy and I to the mall to pick it up right when the store opened at like 10am (I think the store was called Babbages at the time, then Software Etc then finally turned into a GameStop)
I have some great memories of ready 2 rumble, crazy taxi, sonic adventures 1 and 2, free style I think it was called? and many others...
Holy nostalgia
dude check my video and see me playing dreamcast on a portable device
MetalJesusRocks
HELL YEAH MAN finally the Dreamcast hidden gems
I was waiting for you to do this
thanks keep up the awesome work
I'm sure someone has already said it, but the dreamcast has so many arcade ports because it is based on the Naomi arcade system. Many of the games seen here were released on both.
Metal jesus these hidden gem videos you make are awesome man so much good stuff
I, too, am a big fan of the Dreamcast. Sega should not have given up on it so early! Just want to say I am glad to subscribe to your channel. You certainly know your stuff and it amazes me that, sometimes, I go "well I didn't know that!! Metal Jesus, you rock!!
Sega Dreamcast is still my favorite console, so many great games.
Tech Romancer is one of my fav DC games, especially when i break out the arcade stick controller....
Skies of Arcadia is one of the best JRPGs I ever played. Up there with classics such as Chrono Trigger for me.
Just started to collect old consoles, so your vids really show me what to look out for on each one. Keep up the good work dude :)
OMG, Tech Romancer, one of my favourite games on the Dreamcast.
