- Hey guys, it's been a while. I vanished in 2017, manual swapped my car in 2018, and finally gathered the motivation to cut it all down into a video to share with all of you in 2020. I actually love this. The SC400 should’ve come with one from the factory but looking at the take rate of the manual SC300....maybe not so lol

I’d recommend cd009 over ka/sr trans. Those aren’t really meant to handle a lot of tq. Probably why his first one blew. Even cheaper is the z32 trans which can handle anything a uz can throw at it

That is awesome man. I have a 1991 v8 soarer here in Australia and it would be my dream to swap my 4 speed auto with a 5 or 6 speed manual. These cars are sky rocketing in value so hold onto it man.
Attemting to do my transmission torque converter seal without pulling the engine and trans out of the car. The last few bolts at the top of the trans and unplugging the wires is such a PITA

@@2AMcars i got a 92 sc300 myself, in toronto, i love seeing fellow sc owners unlock the true potential of this amazing chassis. I recently purchased a full battle version suspension for my car. Slowly but surely I'll get to the swap stage. Again love seeing your vids brother, keep it up👊🏽

I’m putting the plan together for the swap but life stuff has made me look for someone to do the majority of the work... but now that I see the benefits of pulling the engine, maybe I should just do it and take my time. In most SC400 manual swap videos I’ve seen they drop the transmission and use a 350z 6 speed. Working under a car isn’t fun... that being said, how much more time was spent pulling the motor vs dropping the transmission only. (If you know..?)
Also, in your educated opinion, what are the pros/cons of the 240 5 speed vs the Z 6 speed. I think the 6 speed shifter ends up back by your elbow and 5 speed lines up perfectly..but the Z 6 speed seems like it’s a stronger unit. That, and having a 6th gear is more desirable. I’ll wait to see your next video on the cons of the 5speed but any other input you have would be much appreciated.

hi! I think it is definitely faster to drop the trans but Stephen pulled the motor to do a bunch of other work to it. I think the motor was out of the car within a day, and it was put back in within a day. 240 5 speed from what i know shifts smoother, and the shifter hole lines up perfectly. The 6 speed is much stronger and can hold more torque (hence why i said i blew up a transmission already). Whichever route you go, i am sure you will like it!

Problem with this is going with a Ka24 transmission should have gone with the 300ZX.
I'm leaning towards CD009 brand new, these older transmission have sorted histories, nice car, great video, buying my sc400 next week 👍
Do cd009 you won't be disappointed...you will be with the 240 and w58 trans had to rebuild my w58 5 or 6 times

@dronetrucker8623 you cha ginger gears out in diff its quite short if u can go with 3.62 or 3.76....or if you want even gear 3.26...3.92 are really short

So was the motor just taken out just for ease of everything or is it necessary to pull transmissions on these cars
Where did your clutch pedal from
What offsets are your front and rear wheels? I saw on F90's channel they were 18x9.5 and 18x10.5, what about offsets? Did the fronts clear the LS calipers without spacers? I'm shopping wheels now and have the LS calipers, need to make sure whatever I pick will fit and clear. Thanks.

What year sc400 you have? I know ecu tends to rev limit the car or limp mode sometimes when in limp mode unless first gen dont have that much problem

Hey man im swapping cd009 in my 1992 sc400 in a couple weeks time, question for you? What wire did you tap into for the gps speedo, i bought the same unit as you but cant find a wiring diagram for the life of me, any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you.

240 sx 5 spd takes the power?
Since the gs400 has the same engine you could basically do the same right? Or would you have to get a different trans since it’s a different chassis?
basically you can! im not sure how it would line up with the shifter hole though. Many people also use this swap in the 240sx and in the ls400

Did you have to modify the bellhousing/adapter plate/change bellhousing to make it fit onto the 1uz? Or did it go straight on no modifications? Considering doing a KA swap on my 92!
