Unfortunately just about everyone that washes a car now calls themselves a “detailer” what I notice with most of these people is they don’t understand that a detailer is someone that has the ability to clean/correct the finer details..
If you are an aspiring detailer ,don't follow anything from Craig's channel. I mean no disrespect ,but this guy is a car washer. So, you are going to wire brush the spare tire well ,yet not wet sand the dead clear off ,and bring back the paint? I really don't mean to troll ,but you are spraying tire shine on the spare tire ,and paining the spare well. I feel like i am being trolled
I have a Detailing business in VT, I would recommend not using silicone based products for engine dressing, not good on electronics and attracts dust. The best product out there is stoner Trim Shine, leaves a non greasy, natural satin finish and doesn’t attract dust, been using it for years with no problems
Devin is legit! It's so cool to see someone, especially of the younger generation, have a real passion for what they do. Kudos to Craig for giving him some screen time on this channel.
Yeah so far, I really like the young man. Now, we know working for someone like Flying Wheels is just a stepping stone. It's not a career position, it's just the nature of the beast, just like the people who work for me. So I hope he learns all he can, hones his skill and seeks either a high end organization or expands on his own eventually. But no matter how much crap we give Craig, he is very experienced in this stuff and makes for a great mentor.
I had a 94 SC400 for about 5 years. I bought it with 330k miles on it and it still ran perfect when I sold it. That was my favorite car I ever owned. Drove so smooth, nice amount of power and the body style is timeless.
after watching the whole video, i stand behind my comment. You just compounded/polished dead clearcoat ,sanded the spare well ,put tire dressing on a spacesaver
I see your point, but I understand why it was done. After polishing, it did look better and likely felt better also. Cleaning the spare well shows attention to areas most would ignore. Nothing wrong with taking 5 minutes to prep a spacesaver. It did take twice as long, or more, b/c of the camera work but it adds content.
Glad to see you replaced you're detailer. He's ambitious & has a good work ethic. I'm very much into keeping my cars as nice as possible too. I stay away from buffers though I'm afraid of messing up my paint so its wash, clay bar cleaner wax & seal for me. Good job young whippersnapper!
Kinda sad that some of these comments are shaming Devin. Devin is doing an AMAZING job as a beginner detailer. YALL just need to eat your wheaties and let him work cuz. I’ve seen experienced detailers do a HORRIBLE job. Devin’s got the drive and the right mindset going into these projects. Give the man more credit. He deserves it. Good job, DETAILER DEVIN!
My SC400 engine lost a rod bearing at 112k. Was the worst Lexus I have owned. My GX470 now has 387k miles, reliable. My SC430 went 176k, no issues. My SC300 went 98k miles needing an egr valve only and a weird torque converter slip issue. Lexus’s are also well known to have low grade leather which never lasts.
Devin did a great job there and is great video content. More important is the financial aspect - Profit and loss. Not only for the backyard car flipper but also for those who want to sell their own vehicles via the private route.
Devin has great potential, never saw someone detail a spare tire compartment! Not sure if he knows, but a fine wet sand on that clear would’ve saved him a little time buffing (slightly better results)
In the 90s Gold treatment on emblems was a thing for Toyotas / Lexus - it gave a "classy" look whether it was a Lexus SC 400 or Toyota Sienna. The customer paid $300+ - it cost the dealer.......$30.
I had one Lexus ( 2003 ES300 ) and it actually a dam nice car to drive! boring as hell but EXTREMELY comfortable ( even compared to cars from today! Got a mk7 Golf R ) Awesome cars for not alot of $$
9:20 - there's rumors of only one SC400 made with a manual, from the factory, for a high ranking Lexus executive at the time. I wish someone could verify. 😎 I can't wait to own my own 93-95 SC 300/400
At this point the market has corrected so much since he got it that it doesn’t make sense. He might as well just retail it for the low. The color doesn’t help. As a fellow dealer it’s just one of those cars.
Why would you spend time and money to sand and paint the spare tire well, (and 'detail' the spare tire) ... and then compound and polish a car that has massive clear coat failure? This is literally a visual representation or putting 'Lipstick on a Pig'.
Devin.., You're great for this channel. The chip repair kit video was fun to watch. Can either of you do a video on the black rubber type scuff marks left on a car after a very minor accident. It seems like paint can't cover it. It's almost like it seems like it can be removed somehow. Maybe acetone or something..
Yep, Devin 'likes the camera' and has the drive. He even smiles throughout. If that is who he really is, he is on his way to becoming not only a detailer, but a detailer who will grow and become someone that sets the standard in the local area.
Always liked the SC400 not so much for the SC300. I thought I had one bought until the guys wife stepped in an shut down the deal. She said it's was HER car and it wasn't going anywhere. They are now divorced. A light coat of WD40 to bad clearcoat will look good for a few daysor it rains
Yes, I like to see what you purchased the vehicle for what it takes to sort it out and get it to a reliable example and what you make off of it the final sale that’s my interest
That A7 is dope if you know what it is and how to deal with it. You have it as an RS7 tune though and that's not possible but it likely does have the 500HP with dual pulley and the stage 1+ apr tune or likewise. RS7 tune would be making at a min, 739HP.

Unfortunately just about everyone that washes a car now calls themselves a “detailer” what I notice with most of these people is they don’t understand that a detailer is someone that has the ability to clean/correct the finer details..
yep! as a actual detailer I cringed when he used a paper towel on the rear bumper, you can even see afterwards it looks like it was sanded lol
@@maxortega6061or a wire brush on the trunk.
I washed my toilet the other day. I am a detailer

Not his problem, he's a used car dealer. Cheap and fast, down the road it goes.
Lexus V8's are phenomenal. Never have any severe problems. Had an SC430 that did 250,000miles before i sold it! 👍👍👍
Amazing car
Awesome! Keep the 90s to early 00s cars on the road! They are infinitely more reliable and cost effective to own than what’s being made now!
My original starter on my 2003 Lexus GX 470 just went out at 517,000 miles .
Devin is legit! It's so cool to see someone, especially of the younger generation, have a real passion for what they do.
Kudos to Craig for giving him some screen time on this channel.

The problem is Craig talks too much and loves the sound of his own voice. Let the other man talk!
Love seeing devin more and more in the videos, kid has an awesome personality and is a hard worker, feed your team and they will take care of you
I had a 94 SC400 for about 5 years. I bought it with 330k miles on it and it still ran perfect when I sold it. That was my favorite car I ever owned. Drove so smooth, nice amount of power and the body style is timeless.
My first Lexus was a 94’ SC400…. Dad bought it for me in 1999 as a wedding gift… thanks Dad..! Love ya guy!
after watching the whole video, i stand behind my comment. You just compounded/polished dead clearcoat ,sanded the spare well ,put tire dressing on a spacesaver

I have a 2008 GS350 and I Love it! 28mpg at 85 mph average! Runs perfectly, and it’s fast!
Never heard somebody say the “P” in pneumatic until Devin said it in this video 16:07
A couple years ago i got a 2000 SC400 for $9,000. Ended up selling it on cars and bids for $14,000 😅
Glad to see you replaced you're detailer. He's ambitious & has a good work ethic. I'm very much into keeping my cars as nice as possible too. I stay away from buffers though I'm afraid of messing up my paint so its wash, clay bar cleaner wax & seal for me. Good job young whippersnapper!

90's car's are some of the best ever built, the bar was set sooo high.
“If you are mechanically inclined..”
Was a full clip unloaded
Well done! The effort and passion are evident.
Craig is married but I have a feeling he is a swinger
@dixienormus1619it’s a bot

Making it a manual is the kind of projects you need to do!! Keep up the good work.
I'm a glutton for flying wheels frustrations.. You should manual swap it, upgrade the brakes, the suspension and wrap it...
I had a 1JZ Soarer back in the day. Wasted way too much money on it but it was a good learning experience.
WRAP the hood, roof, & trunk BLACK.
Problem solved about the paint, and it would give it a tuxedo look.
97 Lexus SC300 one of the finest cars i have ever owned.
Good job Devin. Craig should give you a raise.
Dave's Lexus knowledge is amazing, way beyond me. Devin - the Detailer seems as driven as you, keep up the good work
Dang near 400k subs. I remember when it was below 40k subs. Keep it up.
90s cars are the best!!!
90 models cars are the new classics
Ugh. That makes me feel really old.
Wasting time....put the spare tire back in its place.
I disagree.
I have a mint 1981 280zx turbo with t tops five speed. 60,000 original miles
Devin did a great job there and is great video content. More important is the financial aspect - Profit and loss. Not only for the backyard car flipper but also for those who want to sell their own vehicles via the private route.
I just love these 90s coupes, it's a steal. Well done!
Devin has great potential, never saw someone detail a spare tire compartment!
Not sure if he knows, but a fine wet sand on that clear would’ve saved him a little time buffing (slightly better results)
Never really been a fan of Lexus but 90s cars in general had lots of character.
In the 90s Gold treatment on emblems was a thing for Toyotas / Lexus - it gave a "classy" look whether it was a Lexus SC 400 or Toyota Sienna. The customer paid $300+ - it cost the dealer.......$30.
The new detailing guy is good. Would love to see videos specific to detailing such as wheels, interior, rugs, etc...
When the clearcoat is peeling, you can't "buff it out".
I had one Lexus ( 2003 ES300 ) and it actually a dam nice car to drive! boring as hell but EXTREMELY comfortable ( even compared to cars from today! Got a mk7 Golf R ) Awesome cars for not alot of $$
What a difference between the original detailer and what Devon does !
Great video! Thank you for getting back to basics. Loved the Lexus expert. This was a great video Craig, please don’t forget what you did to make it.
Oh congratulations you’re such a car guy and I think you’re starting the next collectible category well done
Dude, Devon, you're a damned natural bro. You do good work man.
Devin is awesome and so is this channel
That was one excellent example of a worse case transformation of a detailing. Great work
Well done Devin...you are the real deal!
Devon is crushing it at the helm.
It was nice to see Devon doing his craft in this video.
Hi Grey, why dont you wrap the Kia to a color that people would like and make a video getting it done 😊
This was excellent - beginning to end - love to see more of this !!
Give that Kia a birthday present of a nicely colored wrap! Blue, red, black, anything but that yellow, right?
David and Devin did a nice job in this video
Wow!! I owned a 92 was one of the best cars I ever owned. Was over $40k new!!
That is a gem !! And I bet everything still works like new !!
9:20 - there's rumors of only one SC400 made with a manual, from the factory, for a high ranking Lexus executive at the time. I wish someone could verify. 😎 I can't wait to own my own 93-95 SC 300/400
Love a colorful engine bay. Nice video, like that you included Dave got to show his work. Between you Dave and i we all have too many projects 😭😭😭
Why don’t you simply run that Kia through the auctions ? It’s been a year you got it fixed for free !!!
At this point the market has corrected so much since he got it that it doesn’t make sense. He might as well just retail it for the low. The color doesn’t help. As a fellow dealer it’s just one of those cars.
Hyundai/ Kia won't give free engines to dealers anymore, videos like this ruined it
Great video guys! Thanks for the progressive video of the quality you do to detail your cars for your lot....
I'd love to see you get an older cheap sports car and set it up for dirt fun. Rx8, 350z, g35, sc400,
I love the color on the Kia. What I don't like is 1) it's an ugly boring CUV and 2) it has a CVT.
Why would you spend time and money to sand and paint the spare tire well, (and 'detail' the spare tire) ... and then compound and polish a car that has massive clear coat failure? This is literally a visual representation or putting 'Lipstick on a Pig'.
I like him. Hes does good work and cares
Best car years ever made
Decent return on the car. It’s a tough business Craig 👊🏼
good job Devin
Complains about rust in cars, proceeds to use wire brush on the inner trunk paint. 😮
Devin and Dave were both great
Devin.., You're great for this channel. The chip repair kit video was fun to watch. Can either of you do a video on the black rubber type scuff marks left on a car after a very minor accident. It seems like paint can't cover it. It's almost like it seems like it can be removed somehow. Maybe acetone or something..
Really first thing he's gonna check the condition of paint in trunk under spare Craig man 😂 great time management
Keep using Devon, he’s excellent
He’s much better than the first guy after German
I like how Craig is not only giving Devin camera time. But I feel like he may be editing as well… no?
The first time Devin showed up I said he was a keeper ! Great on front of the camera ! Maybe a Hollywood talent agent will discover him! 😮😮😮😮😊
great content as usual, really enjoy watching them
Whoa. Young gun in da house. I like the vibe. Great addition to the tube team. And detail!
On that g37 it'll probably be easier to find a 370z door to replace it and probably even one in that color. Same car other than front and rear end.
I'm 58 and I bought my first Toyota< Not one but two.
A 2001 Sequoia
A 1999 2wd Tacoma mini truck
I'm estatic.
Good video. Those old Toyota/ Lexus plus pick ups are good sellers.
Whats easier? Would it be better to swap a V8 into a manual SC300
Water based tire shine attracts less dirt on the engine
If you have a slight battery drain, check the rear view mirror button is on or not.
Thanks for easily explaining a P&L
Yes, I like to see what you purchased the vehicle for what it takes to sort it out and get it to a reliable example and what you make off of it the final sale that’s my interest
Other than the 'Devin the Detailer' mega fail, that was a pretty fun video. Thanks for sharing the journey of the car.
Very nice Lexus Devin your doing great job there keep it up 👍👍
Yessss more drift car content!!!
I am mind blown if Devin is cleaning the fuel pump under the hood of this Lexus
Sc400’s have fuel pumps in the trunks behind the passenger seat not under the hood
Great Job dude!!! From El Segundo CA great job
is it a 93 or 94? did you pay 1765 or 1965???
these are great cars for the time. the leather holding up is amazing someone loved that car
Devin is great on camera
I love these cars. I’m currently considering getting one.
That A7 is dope if you know what it is and how to deal with it. You have it as an RS7 tune though and that's not possible but it likely does have the 500HP with dual pulley and the stage 1+ apr tune or likewise. RS7 tune would be making at a min, 739HP.
Does Dave have a channel? Maybe you could film Dave wrenching on your Lexus?
*ONLY 2 GRAND FOR THAT LEXUS?*
Dayumn... 😮
Looks a little cold.. love ya video
Let’s work Devin into the videos a bit more. Clean clear voice and good vibe.
the leather only dry's out if you don't hidrate it once a year lol.
My 87 jag looks brand new
Poppa Al was loved by his family and respected by the Danville community. He will be missed. RIP to a good man 😢
Papa Al is doing fine
How many miles I would grab it
