Jay Montana22 it’s not what you wear. The main thing is how you carry on. I’m 46. I don’t dress like a kid, or like an old man. However my physique is still like a 20-something. The thing I wish I knew long long ago is that Thomas Pink do an ‘athletic’ cut fitted shirt. I’d always been in the office wearing shirts that were too ‘puffy’. Another mistake is beats that are the wrong length. Also, poking holes in them myself.
Just don't wear running sneakers with long pants. It's been the nerd's style of dress for decades. Guys with no game with women usually wear running sneakers or white, fake leather New Balance Jerry Seinfeld sneakers that look a size too big with faded, tapered leg Levi's. Adidas makes classic, low-cut sneakers that have been in style for 40-50 years. Stan Smiths even work with pants other than jeans and my favorites are Dennis Busenitz as they are made with real leather.
I have no desire to look younger. It’s more important to look healthy and respectable.

I respect that. I’ll be 40 next year but I get complimented often on how youthful I look but that’s due to being active and not taking myself too seriously and enjoying life
TrilariousEnt same here. I’m 44. Most people don’t believe me. But in my profession looking too young can make people think I’m inexperienced or even that I’m too young to be in my position. So I don’t really have a desire to look ‘young’ but I’m going to stay fit and healthy as long as I can.

Leather coats/jackets are my favorite fashion piece and article of clothing period! I’d NEVER give them up. Anyone saying that loses all credibility. Never can out age a nice 100% leather coat.

Good tips. On a side note, some older guys (like me) like wearing graphic Tees sometimes not to look young but because its what they like. And although I may look younger than I am (58), I never dress it to impress so I wear what I want and it’s my attitude that makes me feel young.

I base some of my clothing by if my 25yr old son is wearing it I might pass on it.
My mom always taught me to keep my style classic and it'll never go out of style. I stay away from trends.
When I hit 30, I started to minimize on graphic tees and went went to solid colours. UNIQLO has a great selection and for a reasonable price. I still wear J’s. But I make sure to rock them sensibly with the right outfit.

In my opinion it's not about age, it's about body type. If you're the same lean muscular 185lbs you were in your early 20's you'll have the same freedom to wear current young styles e.g. Chad Ochocinco.

I definitely agree.Most likely if you have the body of a " healthy" 25 y/o you can wear almost anything.Just don't sag and try to get away from the baseball caps.I think the baseball cap is one of the hardest fashion styles to let go of.But keeping your body in good shape gives you more options as far as fashion.

Though not the 22 year old 5'5" 165lbs of twisted steel and sex appeal,still not bad for 60. 170 lbs, size 32 jeans and can still drop and do 100 pushups (those short arms come in handy for pushups and bench press). Still can bench 300lbs. Just wear jeans and t-shirts and that's it. One thing about being older is you finally realise the only person you need too impress............is YOURSELF!!!

Love this! My dad is 85, and he looks so good rocking a dark brown classic bomber style jacket, classic jeans, a watch and the occasional diamond ring. Aftershave instead of cologne works for him. He also has brown leather athletic shoes when the occasion calls for it. My mom and I keep him looking fine and sophisticated. Another style travesty in addition to wearing dated styles is wearing cheap- looking clothes or old-man clothes. Keep teaching!

Totally right, but we are capable to match things better together if we also think about what is fitting our personality in style and colour, I rather trying to get things that works for more than just a few times only one season, and rather find something that still look stylish and classy in 3 years, some stuff are for seeking attention and to get something thats grab attention of the wrong reason and distracts because it's screaming I want attention so the attention goes more to the clothes and less to you as a person can be contraproductive, it was certainly more accepted to rock the same clothes day after day, but we don't want to be our parents either looking way to old way to young.
@smadge100 We're not saying anything such as clothing is the answer to enjoying life. All we mean is if something like that makes one feel good about themselves, why not. In the mindset of today's people, it makes them feel big by putting others down, to say "you're old". And of course they'll walk away chest inflated feeling good. I've always dressed up with what makes me feel comfortable . Never followed fashion or style. I go to the gym regularly and keep in shape. I've always owned affordable cars and never had a problem with the ladies. I'm 62!.
I have a muscular, athletic body and I love wearing v neck tees and sweaters with good fabric that drapes well along the shoulders, chest, back and arms. It enhances the hard work at the gym and makes me feel confident and put together.

Best information on how to dress for older men thank you. I watched a video with 20 something's explaining how a 50 something should dress. All they did was make me feel old. Hearing advice from someone that is actually dressing as an older man works better.

I agree that older guys can still rock leather jackets, as I myself have many leather jackets that I wear during the appropriate months. Taking a style cue from older male celebrities that rock leather jackets, older guys should wear conservative leather jackets. And by conservative, I mean leather jackets that don't have an over abundance of zippers, quilting, and ribbing on the arms (i.e. Boda Skins, etc). The fancy, trendy, leather jackets are best left to the younger men. Bomber jackets are great no matter the age, but actually look better on older men. Just rock a clean, conservative leather jacket and it will make you look even better. So yes, I believe there are age appropriate styles of leather jackets for older men.
Don't chase trends. Don't be a slave to fashion. Just because they make it in your size doesn't mean it looks good on you. Take care of your health. Be confident and free of mind to wear what you like as defined by you, Be yourself and OWN yourself. Peace.

I'm 44 & just now figuring out to make the transition from the _v neck black tee_ to the crew. 5-10 years ago, the foundational v looked good on me - not anymore. Yep, new problem areas. And I'll never give up my leather jackets - trick is to stay away from the buttons & zipper flavor & go for minimal & dressy leathers.

My only disagreement is with the V neck t shirts. To me you're confusing old age with out of shape, as we get older our chest doesn't stick out as it use to and a regular T looks too much across the chest and it's too much across the neck area. Also to me the V necks has a more slimmer cut than the regular Ts.

I will never retire the V neck. Its a classic staple of real mans style. If you work out and have a well proportioned well sculpted chest the V neck accentuates it without over doing it.
