From personal experience, I think looking after your teeth is really important for maintaining lip fullness. Tooth loss, gum disease and bone density loss in lower face can all contribute to changed lip shape in older age, as well as more wrinkles around mouth and chin area.

true, but lbr tooth health is more important than lip fullness which is pure vanity. sadly a lot of ppl can’t afford dental treatment which is more of a comment on our society than anything.

I will chime in on this topic.. I agree with you guys on the dental care. There are so many reasons why everyone should have a good smile and be able to uphold dental heath. (speaking from personal exp.) I am 29 and can not afford to NEEDED dental work done.. its terrible as for how expensive it is. I am 29 and need dentures something fierce and can not afford them. I have brushed my teeth 2-3 times a day, my whole life and still have prob 12 full teeth in my mouth. It didnt help that I was in an abusing relationship when I was younger.. which started the root of some of the issues with my mouth. Its def. not healthy and def. NOT good for confidence. I would be in such a better head space withy a better smile! That is literally what holds me back frm having my own TH-cam channel. Have blessed day everyone!

I have had three tiny pre-cancers zapped off the top of my upper lip. This has distorted my lip line on the right side of my mouth. I have to define a line with lip liner and lipstick. I am diligent with sunscreen on my face and lips now, but it’s a bit too late. I see a Dermatologist every six months to have my pre-cancer spots removed. Not the worst cancer you can have, but word too the wise - learn from the mistakes of the older generation (I am 70) and don’t do what we did and bake in the sun for hours. That lovely golden tan isn’t worth what’s coming your way later in life.

Listen, Jesse! Do not EVER give up. I was an absolutely pathetic case. I began trying to quit around the time I started smoking, and I smoked for 25 years. And yes, I was a real smoker. In the middle of the night, in my house, my car, through asthmatic bronchitis, I usually hovered around 2 packs a day. I tried all of the "cures", from hypnosis to Chantix and everything in between. I could no longer stand being a slave to a habit. I got so, so, so, tired of being in a club I didn't want to be a member of anymore. I just got so tired of myself, I quit. I still can't believe it. @@J_Mock92 Two tips from former smokers, but first... The first few days you'll go through physical withdrawals, but after that, it's psychological. The psychological is the biggest stumbling block. You've got to change your way of thinking about smoking, and about the situations that cause you to smoke, and about yourself as a non-smoker.
Once you're over the physical dependence on nicotine, you can face the psychological addiction, and tackle it head on, or use a milder method of cutting back slowly. From what I've seen, the head-on method works best, and sticks longest.
      Those two tips:
      1. Head-on, cold-turkey quitting, with psychological reinforcement: carry a pack around with you for a year, to show yourself you are a non-smoker, and you can be around cigarettes without wanting one. If it helps, you might write something on the package, like BACK AWAY, FOOL! or some other message that hits you on an emotional level, and reminds you to stay strong, and put the smokes down.
      2. Figure out how much you spend on smokes per month, and at the end of a non-smoking month, dump that amount of money into your own, private tip jar: you're tipping yourself for a job well done. Don't count the money, just dump it in every month, until there's no more room. You can put your starting date on a slip of paper and put that in the jar, or tape it on the jar. This helps you remember the day you quite smoking, but also helps you see how much money you've literally burned -- set fire to -- tossed in the flames -- and worse than burned, you burned all that cash, and inhaled poison at the same time.
From a psychological perspective, both of these tips are better than using a patch or other product (patches are good only for a few days, remember, as they only treat the physical dependency), as they help shift your _mind_ from "smoker" to "non-smoker," and that is essential for staying quit of the darned things.
Plus, think of how stinky you from smoking. You are. Smoker's breath gags people, and you've got it. (Think of this as tough love; that's how it's meant.)

I agree with @ Sheila Oldstyle who commented here that taking care of your teeth is important for maintaining lip fullness. Yes I know dental care is expensive in the US and often not covered in many medical plans and from my own experience it’s very hard to find a dentist to take your plan but what I’m talking about is routine brushing daily and lightly brushing the gums and tongue to keep blood supply up and getting enough vitamin C in your diet daily (90 mg say from an orange or a whole blended lemon) to stop gum bleeding and tooth loss. As far as lip plumpers are concerned, I’ve tried a few but recently I am trying Dr. Rajani’s lip plumper and it isn’t irritating and works the best so far. I think his ingredients are good too. You said stop smoking..hmm. I smoked between 1964 and 1979. I started out “normally”, 1/2-1 pack a day. Within 10 years I would go to the mailbox with the open pack and an unopened pack in case I met a neighbor and might be there longer than expected. I lived in the mountains in Colorado and the mailbox was 1/4 mile away. Then I started working full time in a groom shop and the day I realized I was going through 4 packs I told myself I wasn’t really, I was busy, my hands were wet, I was lighting them and leaving them to mostly burn out in the ashtray. It was on vacation I had to admit I was actually smoking 4 packs a day. It was fairly late in the year..I told myself I would stop smoking as my New Years resolution. I didn’t tell my family. Christmas came, and although
my kids had bugged me to quit for years, they had finally given up. One daughter hand tooled me a leather pouch for my belt because I was either sitting on or dropping my cigarettes while horseback riding. The two little ones gave me a gold cigarette lighter and my son gave me an elegant ebony and silver cigarette holder. I still have them; I’m almost 80. Jan 1st I quit. I walked around doubled up for weeks. No one knew what was wrong or why I didn’t go to the doctor. You know Mom, stubborn. Everything known to man, I caught, colds, flu, strep throat, beriberi, jungle rot🤣 I didn’t understand if not smoking was so good for you, why was I dying? I wasn’t dying though; I gained 10 pounds. I still have that too. I started running, up to 6 miles a day. Not surprisingly my periods stopped and I went through menapause, I was in my late 30’s. Bam! Gained another 10 pounds I still have. I survived, never smoked again, which is good. It was so hard, hardest thing I’ve ever done on a physical scale, I know I’d never be able to quit again. Today I find cigarette smoke stinky and irritating if I have to walk through it, but I understand.

I noticed a big difference in the healthy appearance of my lips when I started using the Drunk Elephant Lippie Balm. It claims that it helps to define the lip line - and it really does! I use it once a day for anti-aging and other cheaper balms for moisturization. What ingredient in the DE lippie balm helps the appearance of my lips and defines the lip line? I know it's not my imagination - I truly see a difference!

    • @laurieparis2203

Hey Mary! Sephora has the ingredients of DE's Lippe Balm listed on their website. They state there, that it's the Tripetide-1 that's responsible. Or in their words: "Hydrates and visibly plumps up the lips to give better visible definition of the lip line."
I like the ingredient list, might pick some up, sounds like a nice lip treatment to apply before bed. Thx! 🌸

Could you share your opinion on the Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask? I feel like my lips have been much smoother and less peely since using it every night, and I don’t feel desperate to apply lip balm during the day (I used to be someone who couldn’t stand not having something on my lips and would apply chapstick multiple times a day). It’s not petroleum, which is what you recommended. I also like Vaseline, but wanted something that felt more like skincare that could possibly bring some hydration rather than just being occlusive. Not sure it does that, but I feel a difference compared to regular lip balms that never satisfied my lips. It’s expensive, but one lasts me 1-2 years with nightly use.

I have problems knowing how to swish mouthwash without making lip lines! It's an issue. As for quitting smoking, I used to smoke and it's very hard to quit, but if the quitter will stay away from sugar it helps tremendously. The sugar rush feels the same as the craving for nicotine so eliminate sugar for at least 2 months. Also drink plenty of water. It will help.
