They actually have a newer version on costco now($999). With options for steel or graphite, regular or stiff flex. They look insane. If I hadn't just gotten PXG's, I definitely would have given them a look. I have the kirkland wedges and they're incredible.
I play these clubs. Love the 63 gram Vizard shafts. Traded in my Mizuno JPX 919 forged set. They had 115 gram steel shafts. Way too heavy for a 70 year old guy with 12 handicap. I've owned a lot of different clubs. Love these Honma's.
I got a new set of HONMA TW-X T//WORLD irons I like them a lot. I turned 40 and decided it was time to get a new set. Of course these are a few years old they are brand new. Got fitted for them just waiting to get some rounds in.
I play Honma TW747V Irons and they’re the best. Honma irons typically are for better ball strikers. If you flush them they get up and go. When I first got my set I was getting about the same results as you. After playing them for a few months my ball striking improved substantially and now no other clubs I’ve used compare.
I was able to get the 5-11 Honma TR20V's from a local store in my city that resells Costco items for $650 brand new. I had Mizuno JPX 921 HM's so the thin top line and almost blade feel was really appealing to me and my scores have coincidentally dropped massively since the switch. Honestly, I feel like game improvement irons are a hindrance because a miss-hit will go further, except into hazards. Really love having Honma's, and most people have no idea about the brand in the states.
I bought a pair of Honma wedges last year that were 52 and 56 degrees. I’m not sure why but I wanted them to go 100 and 80-90 yards but they were going 20 yards farther. I didn’t figure out why but I sold them bc they weren’t filling the distances I wanted. They felt really good though.
Hi Gabe, great review. They definitely not for you 😊. I mentioned before, but I would really enjoy it if you did a whole round with the chosen Tokamo clubs - just to see how your getting on with them. Also, looking forward to the Ireland videos and hope you had a good trip over and enjoyed the Guinness !!!!
I'm wondering if the Shafts are not allowing for that workability and designed that way to keep the shots straight, or combo of both? And...is it a better deal than the 0211? I would say no as you can customize for less.
The summertime weather here in Southwest Florida as you know is high humidity and we've had tons and tons and tons of rain this summer. I think this is just a need for one more club in a few places
Awesome review. I saw the clubs online about three weeks ago, but they are no longer online. I hope you have some video of your trip to share. Any thoughts on the Vero X2?
Honma is a pretty well known and popular brand in Asia, but hasn’t really caught on in the states. On a separate note, I live in NJ and I NEVER see iron sets being sold at Costco (in-store and what I can order online). Not that I need any more clubs 😂
Fair judgment would be at least 5 rounds on different days at different times of the day. Test at the range to hit multiple shots and take user error into account.
I’m gonna have to respectfully disagree with your take on these clubs. I am a 4 handicap and bought these about 2 years ago for $1350 off the rack. I do not lose distance with off center strikes and the forgiveness is actually pretty good on them. They are the most consistent clubs I have ever played and I have played forged clubs from other major brands. Also they have a very good feel to them. Buttery soft when hitting anywhere around the sweet spot. I would definitely recommend them if someone asked me about them. That’s just my take on them, but I have played them for a couple of years now.
A Saw a set of these on eBay the other day with modus 120 shafts and almost pulled the trigger. Went with PXG 0311P Gen 3 instead. Hope I'm not regretting my decision. Great video!
I think Honma is a niche set for most of us. Well built but just never seem to get the attention here. As always great review of them. Thanks Gabe. You and the Cobra putter get along really well.
Yeah I think your distance is coming from the shaft for sure, but I'd like to see you try that 169 yd shot out of the rough with a 5 iron, especially with your abbreviated backswing, which I like by the way. Love your videos, Gabe.
Good eyes. Well, I took it out a few months ago because I needed to test something with the Arccos system. I ended up draining everything. So I took it out the next day and the next day and the next day and kept getting the same results. So I’ve switched (temporarily at least).
Fantastic review! Those shafts sure did look sweet, but I was surprised at the lack of workability given that this is supposed to be Honma's P790 killer. Totally agree they aren't worth the cash. Hope you had an amazing time in Ireland 🍀!!
Oh it was a glorious trip. The courses were stunning. Looks like we’re going to organize a Let’s Play Thru group trip for next year. Maybe you can join?
Your feet were aiming at the bunker when you hit the wedge into it. I have a few Honma's, they are nothing special to me, just hyped up marketing but well made. Very pricey for what they are.
Gabe, as usual spot on review. I’ve tried a variety of honma irons in the last few years and the one i like best is the TW-X. Those had great feel, very forgiving and decent distance. They just spun a little too much. On the plus side for honma in general, build quality second to none.
I'm goer seeing to the wrong Costco. Maybe if I visited your store in Florida. Our Vegas Costco has a few gloves, balls, and bags. Thats it. The much touted iron set? We'll never see them.
Hi Gabe, grwat vid, I thought this was a great test, as most clubs perform if you are hitting them well, I agree that the Takamo is a far better buy, even though they are forged, graphite shafts.
I have always found that a wet course tends to show how well I am striking the ball and I think this may have contributed to your comments because distance control is premium in the early morning rounds.
I still think the Takomo 101 irons are the best looking irons and they are only $500. Imho tokomo irons are the best bargain for quality and style in the golfing irons market.
These clubs look amazing for the price. Love how they are forged and they seem to perform pretty well. Cool how they made the pw a 10i. Nice review Gabe!
I'm pretty new to golf, and I only play with two kinds of golf balls, Costco's and ones I find while searching for my lost balls. but it's great to know that Costco has stuff for all ability levels.
It looks like you are using your same closed stance, closed face set up out os sand as with your other shots. No wonder you didn't get the first shot high enough to get over the lip of the trap on hole 2.
I don’t think they’re worth the money. You could buy a used but in excellent condition set of much better irons for around the same money that or even a year or two or three old and play better golf. You don’t necessarily have to have brand new. These are definitely a mediocre sat and is likely why they ended up in the hands of Costco to be sold off. Other Costco golf products I rate extremely highly But these ones I would leave on the shelf and definitely go and check out the year of end deals in the golf shop and get something that either suits a true high handicapper or players requirements. I just started playing the Mizuno JPX 921 hot metals this year and they are the best clubs I’ve ever owned got my level of game. Great video as always… Thankyou
Your setup for that fade was totally incorrect and you expect the ball to fade? You call yourself a mortal and not a good ball striker? If you are that you should not expect workability if you miss center and don't setup for a fade

I have mad respect for these Japanese brands making it in America, Honma is very underrated.
I play Honma TW747V Irons and they’re the best.

Sweet deal

This is one club I'd really want to try .however finding a golf centre with them in stock is impossible .
i am a golf pro from southern ca. i play these clubs and love the work ability. sorry you didnt think so

Costco has been killing it in this space! Hoping for some holiday deals this season.
Unable to find these on their website is it in store only? Seems a bargain!
Honma is a pretty well known and popular brand in Asia, but hasn’t really caught on in the states. On a separate note, I live in NJ and I NEVER see iron sets being sold at Costco (in-store and what I can order online). Not that I need any more clubs 😂
Wowzers. What a deal!
I wish they came in a steel shaft! I would be at Costco in a heartbeat purchasing a set. My titleist irons 762's are over 21 years old.
I used to think that graphite was a disadvantage, but the stiff flex graphites are pretty damn good.
Thank you for the review! I saw them on there but they only lasted a couple days. Didn’t pull the trigger
Glad I could help :)
Fair judgment would be at least 5 rounds on different days at different times of the day.
Test at the range to hit multiple shots and take user error into account.
Why not 5 different courses, or 5 different continents? How bout 5 different golf balls, or I could have 5 different breakfasts before I play?

Glad to hear you are getting along well with them
Oh my, what a find.

Saw a set of these on eBay the other day with modus 120 shafts and almost pulled the trigger. Went with PXG 0311P Gen 3 instead. Hope I'm not regretting my decision. Great video!
I think you made the right call
Honma is a big deal in Asia. Their top of the line clubs are ridiculously priced.
I think Honma is a niche set for most of us. Well built but just never seem to get the attention here. As always great review of them. Thanks Gabe. You and the Cobra putter get along really well.
Just checked Costco on line, same store set as you. Showing nothing! When did you see them online?
So should I buy 4-9 iron and PW for $400 that’s what my local return/overstock store had them for
Any spots left in the golf day? Having trouble seeing where to sign up
Yes and today is the last day to do it: letsplaythru.com/meetup
Thank you, Gabe. I'm heading out to Costco...
Yeah I think your distance is coming from the shaft for sure, but I'd like to see you try that 169 yd shot out of the rough with a 5 iron, especially with your abbreviated backswing, which I like by the way. Love your videos, Gabe.
I noticed our playing a Cobra putter, what happened to the Saks Parente. I collect putters and I see the benefit in both but curious why the switch?
Good eyes. Well, I took it out a few months ago because I needed to test something with the Arccos system. I ended up draining everything. So I took it out the next day and the next day and the next day and kept getting the same results. So I’ve switched (temporarily at least).
Irish greens and you own home course (21:40) sounds like an excuse.
Awesome video Gabe, love the look.
They look great indeed, just wished they performed a bit better.
Fantastic review! Those shafts sure did look sweet, but I was surprised at the lack of workability given that this is supposed to be Honma's P790 killer.

@@LetsPlayThru That's sounds fantastic, I'll stay tuned!
In most reviews Honma tests really well
Your feet were aiming at the bunker when you hit the wedge into it. I have a few Honma's, they are nothing special to me, just hyped up marketing but well made. Very pricey for what they are.
😳 good review!

Yes can’t argue with that. Great looking sticks.
I'm goer seeing to the wrong Costco. Maybe if I visited your store in Florida. Our Vegas Costco has a few gloves, balls, and bags. Thats it. The much touted iron set? We'll never see them.
Is that a Taylormade 3 Hybrid in your bag?
Hi Gabe, grwat vid, I thought this was a great test, as most clubs perform if you are hitting them well, I agree that the Takamo is a far better buy, even though they are forged, graphite shafts.
Thanks Nick. Yes I think it’s the bad shots that can certainly tell the tale, and I generally hit quite a few during a round. 😂
I'll be in Miami around the 15 any course recommendations or anyone wanna meet up I challenge you sir lol
Not available in Canada 😢
Same set on ebay for $499
It looks like your feet are initially lined up well, then you reset to point right.
Watch your foot alignment. Sometime you align in the wrong direction, like the second tee shot.
Do you never line up to putt or clean your ball on the green or are you just doing that for the video?
I have always found that a wet course tends to show how well I am striking the ball and I think this may have contributed to your comments because distance control is premium in the early morning rounds.
Love honma irons!
Perhaps because over the years you are getting older and older? ;) great video.
Hmm can’t expect to get much shape with a players club if you’re not striking the ball well🤷🏻♂️
Yhe lofts are all off my one number. In other words, the 4 iron is a 3 iron, etc. through the set.
Exciting video and a great insightful review!!! Pretty cool 😎
I still think the Takomo 101 irons are the best looking irons and they are only $500. Imho tokomo irons are the best bargain for quality and style in the golfing irons market.
Yeah, I’d have to agree
They are not on Costco’s website.
Why not mount your cam on the cart?
These clubs look amazing for the price. Love how they are forged and they seem to perform pretty well. Cool how they made the pw a 10i. Nice review Gabe!
HI Gabe, Which Costco did you get it from? I could not find it on their website..
It’s not the clubs fault
I never find stuff like this in California Costcos 😢
799 is not bad although sounds expensive it's pretty good. 🤔 🤔 🤔 should I?
I'm pretty new to golf, and I only play with two kinds of golf balls, Costco's and ones I find while searching for my lost balls.
but it's great to know that Costco has stuff for all ability levels.
Those clubs are for the better player man
No way!
I couldn’t find them
It looks like you are using your same closed stance, closed face set up out os sand as with your other shots. No wonder you didn't get the first shot high enough to get over the lip of the trap on hole 2.
Wow💥👍🏼
Maybe you need a new putter...
They’re gone now:(
A little unfair judging these irons when you actually played quite poor....mis-hits, questionable putting.
Generally I mIs-hit a couple each round. The difference here was that was severely penalized distance-wise when I did.
No offense but you are not good enough to be judging a clubs "workability" you can't shape the ball
I don’t think they’re worth the money. You could buy a used but in excellent condition set of much better irons for around the same money that or even a year or two or three old and play better golf. Your setup for that fade was totally incorrect and you expect the ball to fade? You call yourself a mortal and not a good ball striker? If you are that you should not expect workability if you miss center and don't setup for a fade
And that’s why they are in Costco? 👍🏼
When Justin Rose couldn’t play these I knew I could not either haha
Was it this model? He’s a blade player I thought
Honma tr20p.p stand for pocket not player😂😂😂
