    In 5th grade (1971) we still had “Show & Tell”...a classmate brought a 45 rpm record (a Zeppelin rarity) and put it on the class record player. Out of the 3” or 4” single speaker came “Hey hey mama said the way you move, gonna make you sweat, gonna make you groove”...the teacher immediately said “TAKE THAT RECORD OFF NOW”...I was immediately hooked on Zeppelin.

    Wow. And there they are....Page and Plant. Like two mythical creatures. So young looking and just starting to arrive at the peak of their powers. It's sort of unreal to see old footage like for all the world like they're just walking around like that today. I really liked the "beard" period of the band!

    Look kids, these guys actually played their own instruments! No auto tune, no lip syncing, nobody dancing with five other dancers doing the same thing, no politics, and they actually wrote their own music, isn't that crazy?

    • @marttram2183
      @marttram2183 2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Dumb comment. Things change, accept it and move on. Music from that era was very political. There were many bands that "lip synced" their live performances to pre recorded versions. Lastly, plenty of artists these days write their own songs, while also plenty of bands back then had ghost writers who wrote their music for them. Take a seat buddy

    • @srvenenoforte
      @srvenenoforte 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@marttram2183 this days no one created anything as there is no creativity at all ! What you talking about? Today's music is absolutely RUBBISH! Comercial rubbish. And thank Zeppelin for modified so many songs as for example from Robert Johnson, plus other blues musicians and singers otherwise no one in this days will now that they ixisted!

    • @marttram2183
      @marttram2183 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@srvenenoforte thats the problem, you're only hearing the commercialized stuff. Check out the song "ragged wood" by fleet foxes. Or "I didn't know" by skinshape. Or "blue" by far caspian. Or "selfish lover" by mild orange. Or "dope and smoke" by dope lemon. Theres still plenty of good music coming out these days, and yes I even like some rap. I'm also huge into blues, 60s, 70s, 90s, etc. Theres good music in every decade if you look hard enough bro

    Jimmy Page Claims his Guitar Playing was at It's peak in 1971.....This can be seen in the recently officially released 1971 BBC concert...however their Japan performances that year in 1971 were I think the best in any country that they performed that year ....The version of Celebration Day on the Fatally Wanderer Bootleg shows Pages guitar playing at it's absolute peak..and of course the rest of the band play brilliantly on that recording too

    • @Liltonxi
      @Liltonxi 7 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      I love those concerts but I have to respectfully disagree friend :) In my opinion their 1973 Madison Square garden performances is where Jimmy is at his peak. And that is because Plant is at his peak as well and so are Bonzo and JPJ.. so they all pushed each other to be better and better and the result is an incredible concert captured on film for our enjoyment

    • @Maguirearch
      @Maguirearch 7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Have you listened to the Official BBC recordings release which has a Live John Peel concert from 1971 which Page put out on Vinyl as well as other current standard formats recently...Did you listen to Whole lotta Love and Communication Breakdown..which I felt were stunning and better than anything from 1973.....??....Page himself has explained in great detail in interviews and articles how he himself knew that his live guitar playing was at it's peak in 1971......OK Fatally Wanderer may not have as great a sound quality as Madison Squre Gardens 1973 ....but it's reasonably good by bootleg standards......and celebration day which he plays on the 12 string is still more musically enjoyable, interesting, complicated and longer than celebration day on the "Song Remains the same" fiilm..which he plays on his 6 string Les Paul.....I mean have you actually listened to the "Fatally Wanderer" bootleg ????...I mean there is so much amazing stuff on various other bootlegs such as "Live on Blueberry Hill" whch was mistaken as an official Zeppelin live release !

      Maurice Maguire that seems to be true. The earlier you go, the better his live performance seemed to be and '71 was early in their career; the same year they released the fourth album I think. I remember hearing a recording of one of the Japan shows and Bonham just wandered off backstage and no one could find him for like 20 minutes. I guess he was too busy filming

      John L That's how they almost always started it live. I wish they would have played a complete Out On The Tiles live, but I don't think they ever did. Just as a side note, Celebration Day is the name of a video featuring Zeppelin in 2007 with Jason Bonham on drums. They resurrected "For Your Life" from Presence live for the first time. Jason did a hell of a job, he really stepped up and it surprised me because he was so much like his Dad this last time around as compared to '88. Anyway, it's well worth watching.

    I've always believed their live performances were nothing more than glorified jam sessions -- rehearsed. ;) Always refreshing to hear them playing by the spirit while at the same time maintaining the formula for each song. And these home movies are amazing. I remember seeing pics of their time in Japan during when these home movies were made, but never the actual footage. Love it!

      Frankie Jimenez No trust me Bonham was filming it, your looking at Richard Cole one of their road managers, sitting next to Peter Grant. Bonham had a blue shirt on that day. I’ve seen pictures of Bonham on the same day standing the grass in that same spot, literally filming this footage, with Jimmy and Robert sitting in the grass IN THE SAME EXACT POSITION. Go to 5:54, showing you the position Bonham was In when the photo was taken. Then go to 6:01 showing the position of Jimmy and Robert and who ever it was taking the picture. Now, go look up “Led Zeppelin Japan 1971.” And you should find the photo. That is ABSOLUTE PROOF that this is Bonzo filming this footage.
