  • I have received several questions about how to use Google Earth to find more fishing spots, well here is the first video of many in this series. In this video I will go in depth about how to transfer waypoints and points of interest from Google Earth over to your fish finders.

So, I haven’t fished in nearly 30 years and wanted to get back into it and your channel is amazing motivation to get back into it.

WOW !! You just frazzled my brain with this talk. I'm going to have to go over this video 10 times to retain all this info.. You must be a computer wiz.. Thanks so much , I have never come across such detailed info. Just bought a new Helix 7 chirp msi gn4 to practice your wizardry on here in Northern Ontario, Canada. To you, Many thanks. I subscribed and cheered.

Something I’ve been searching for, is information about fishfinders in the MARSH systems we fish along the coast! I’m stoked about the info coming, hopefully you’ll touch on what I’ve been looking for!
Haven’t had a finder since late 90’s- early 2k’s. Moved away after Katrina and didn’t fish the coast for a long time! Recently got a small skiff and am in the market for a unit, but have NO CLUE how valuable or NOT, the technology will be or will NOT be!
So much has changed in the landscape in 20yrs, so not sure if I just need a graph for gps or if the chirp/side scan would help locate fish on structure in Lake P and surrounding marsh areas! Can’t see spending that type of money, just to see what will or won’t benefit me! That’s a big shot in the dark for someone stepping back into the market or even someone new to the technology!
Thanks for putting the content together!

I very rarely ever use a finder in the marsh because everything is too shallow to pick up any useful information. They are great out in the bays for marking oyster piles and other areas holding Gish though.

Excellent. I did a four part series on this doing the same for LongStrangeJourney that was covered by Salt Strong as well. Very power stuff. I even make notes on each pin drop as to how I might want to fish it. Also for more complex things between, say Ditch Start and Ditch Finish, like a natural current bed, you can add a path on Google Earth Pro bet the start and finish. Great to make these plans.
And you are definitely right some of the features you can see and mark like potholes a d grass may not be visible on the day of fishing due to chop/ripple and lighting conditions.

Nice I didn’t see those videos. I might need to check them out to see if there’s anything I’m missing. I know my finder doesn’t take paths and routes.

@@southernsalt Oh no big deal. The internet is huge ;op. I was transitioning at the time from Garmin to Lowrance and I also use it on my mobile devices when I'm on the kayak or a guest's boats so I did it as a four-part series, first the plan and then the device specific stuff. What you demonstrate is very powerful. It's a one-two punch. You have to go into a day with a plan and ride loose in the saddle and be prepared to abandon the plan. I try to take the lessons learned on the day of vs the plan and go back to Google Earth afterwards and update the plan with the experiences you had on the water. Then re-download it. Some nav systems have the option to not display duplicate waypoints, or you can delete out the dups before the re-import. Good stuff you show man. Makes me wanna fish Alabama/Mississippi!

Thanks for supporting the channel!! I currently use a Raymarine Element 9 and it works great for me but is probably a little over the top. The Lowe’s credit Hook 7 is another good option.

Brother this was a good video & good information here. I don't have a fish finder right now but I am interested in getting one. I saw how the fish finder is capable of doing all of this I was wondering how all that worked out. Thank you so much brother for teaching me. I told you you was a good teacher. I should have had one long time ago but I just been focusing on paying off my tractor trailer 🚛 and been lazy about getting one but I need to go get one now because my doctor just released me on Friday for me to go back to work a little bit and do some kayaking. My foot surgery worked out well man it shrunk the width of my foot from 6 1/2 inches wide to 6 inches wide from my big toe to my lil toe. I know that Not much but brother that is a start for me. I'm praying that it would keep going down to where I can go out & buy my first pair of shoes that I have not been able to wear in the past 33 years. Brother I am so excited. I even with kayaking for the first time in 2021. Me , my co-worker and a buddy of his we kayak about 10-15 miles on Sunday. I didn't take my poles cuz I was so excited to get on the water but my co-worker and his buddies they took their fishing poles and caught a lot of bass. I was planning on going kayak fishing this weekend but I realized it's Mother's Day weekend so I'm going the following weekend. Be safe out there Brothers.
