Johnny, I just got my first fish finder. In my research, I found an old-timer going through the many different structures but he talked a lot and got distracted and i didn't feel like he ever pulled it all together. Between the structures video and this one, I now feel like I can pick out spots to start scanning with my Garmin ECHOMAP. My son and I have been fishing for about a year; we do the best on ponds, and very small lakes. I can't wait to start to apply what I have learned and see how much more I will learn trying to apply it. THANKS!
Thank you for this info. This process is going to improve my bass fishing times 10!! Love your podcast as they have helped me as well. Thanks again. You and Randy are helping weekend anglers like myself who fish when careers and families allow. Keep up the awesome work! God Bless
dang brother, as a millennial when i started watcing this video i thought you where explaining to grandpa how to use the VCR, but as it progressed i was thankful for the hand holding. Very thoughtfully explained and easy to follow.
Jonny made videos of this in the past, and as far as i know, he was the first to put this info out there. Shortly after, every fishing channel made a video covering it 😆
Jonny, again you have knocked it outta the park!!! Your comprehensive and thorough explanations on catching the elusive largemouth bass far exceed anything I’ve ever read, watched, or discussed with another angler!!! You possess an unrivaled innate teaching ability that is second to none!!! I would LOVE to see a TH-cam fishing tournament on a major reservoir somewhere in the country of just the young guys that have TH-cam channels. There is ZERO doubt that you would win. I would like to see it in the old Bassmaster Classic style.👍😃🎣🎣🎣🎣🎣🎣
Not sure how he and Randy teamed up but what a team. They are polar opposites, your new age tech he’s not, he’s shallow you’re offshore. I liked you for a long time but what a great move to team up with Randy!
Absolutely amazing video!!! You are so informative and explain everything in detail 😃 keep up the good work this channel is only going to get bigger and bigger!!
A great teaching tool. I knew how to use Pro version but could never figure out how to convert waypoint file. I use a iMac, so the conversion steps are a little different but your explanation helped me figure it out on my iMac. Tried the transfer process to my Simrad Evo3 today. Worked perfect. Thanks
I know you put this video out a while back. I watched then but was waiting to get my new boat before I converted pin drops from earth pro to my graft. So I just watched it again and I’m all fixed up. Thanks a lot Johnny. Love watching you videos with all the great info. Keep up the awesome work.
Just repeating what everybody else has already said but you are awesome! You have one of the most informative and helpful channels on TH-cam and I thank you for your content.
Thank you very much Johnny for explaining how to do this! I have been trying to learn how to use my lowrance 9ti and you have helped me very much with all your easy to understand videos. Again!
I was randomly recommended this video despite not watching any fishing content on TH-cam. I threw it on as background noise for my video game and ended up really enjoying it! Now I think I might watch some more content and maybe go out with my dad next weekend!
Yep! This isn’t new. I’ve actually found out why we were catching on a certain spot looking through historical data. Helps too just when you find times when the water was clearer in the image.
Another nice video. I really enjoy your channel as you continually provide useful information for all of us. We all need to remember: Google Earth Pro is our friend. I have been using it for several years and also use the GPS visualizer with great success. It is nice to use Google Earth Pro to view all your marked fishing locations on a large screen at home. I have made an index that allows me to show where individual types of fish are caught. I number them i.e. ST=Speckled Trout and then a number i.e. 001 ST001, R= Redfish and then a number 009 R009. By using GPS visualizer I can transfer information back and forth between my Google Earth Pro program and my Lowrance HDS7 chart plotter. I even made a Microsoft Word Table with all my marked locations with GPS coordinates and other pertinent information that I take along fishing in a folder with sheet protectors to keep the paper dry in a wet environment. You are the man!!!! John
You just help me so much understand my units. Great video A++++ I recommend all video Fish the Moment puts out.. I have learned so much I wish somebody I could meet you in person.. Thanks
Excellent stuff here and you even take it a step further with the how to on the web site. I think most people don't know about or overlook how beneficial Google Earth can be. Big thumbs up.
Jonny! Thanks so much man!!! I started finding those 'grains of rice' on my side imaging, and its changed my 'fishing' ENTIRELY! been able to hit them on first or second cast almost every time. THE BEST INFO AND NERD SITE ANYWHERE IN THE WEB! Much much thanks 😊
Can’t wait to start doing this!! I’ve often brought my cell phone out and cross referenced it against my navionics to find these spots but this is def a game changer. Thank you 🙏
Now I know why Randy says you are the electronics guru. Great stuff. Now all I need is a mapping fish finder. Can be tedious transferred gps to a basic unit. Thanks 👍
Man oh man . If I had just a pinch of your Davy on computers and fish finders , I think I could be a real bass fisherman . I need help real bad but I’m in Longbeach ms .I’m old school need hands on with help . All you showed is great .I wish I could wrap around it .
And I have shoes older than this guy. I don't know how I've been fishing twice as long as this guy yet have less than half of the information he has. :)
Absolutely amazing hack. Thank you sir. It should help me a ton. I don’t have as much time to get out on the lake and look at my electronics since I have 3 young kids. This will make a big difference for sure.
i guess i wasnt the only one looking at your older video a few days ago and trying this out. i had the google image captured and moved over to my lowrance overlay trying to follow the creek channels that were revealed in lower level history events, but was hard to see it. Going to try the trails option and see if it works on my Touch 7-Gen 2. Thanks again for the video.
As always Jonny, fantastic and clear info and instruction. I have downloaded hundreds of waypoints using your last video as my guide so thanks for getting us an updated version. If you can teach me this stuff, it must be clear info because I am "tech inept"! 😂👍
I didn’t know there was a Pro version of Google earth. I’ve always used the regular version. Pre 2008/Google earth we used the UT system of topographic maps that went back to the early 1900s you just have to understand mapping sequence marks.
Not a bad plan. Never used it for fishing (don't have a fish finder anyway), but I have used it several times for navigation. I find a parking lot to the location I want to go and type the coordinates to it in my GPS to ensure I don't end up at the address with no place to park (that assumes the address is accurate in the GPS as well). Street View is great for really isolating your destination.
Great video Johnny. And great timing too. I was just trying to do this 2 days ago and was having some serious issues. I now know what it is that I was doing wrong and will try again. Very much appreciate the help. Thank you.
Thanks for this video. Question, lets say I do this and later on a add more points of interest. Do I need to download and convert everything again or just the new points of interest, convert them and add them to the SD card?
I'm not easily impressed but Johnny you've impressed the hell outta me with your wide range of knowledge. To be so young and know so much is pretty dang impressive. Awesome job. 👊
Here is another trick: as a scuba diver i have dived in several fresh water lakes. I have observed that largemouth bass tend to sit atop of the summer thermocline. In a lake with no current the thermocline can be so defined that one can touch it with the tip of a finger.
Is this at all adaptable for the angler not running electronics? Used to have sonar & GPS on the kayak but have simplified/reduced gear over the years, and no longer do. Is there a way to import this to the mobile Google Maps application? Perhaps to the mobile Navionics application? Awesome video. Not only informative, but well-assembled and of high production value.
Your videos have been the most helpful of any I’ve watched !! I live in SC and am primarily a crappie fisherman. Would The 40 waypoints you offer on our home lake that you spoke about be beneficial to me ? I’m looking for brush piles primarily to fish year round. Thanks
Im just starting to play with this. I have a couple questions. If upload waypoints for a lake and then take the chip out will the waypoints stay? Second question is if I want to upload more waypoints to the same lake later will the previous ones go away or add in the differences? I have a solix
Do they seem to actually line up well when you fish them? Map projections can be a tricky thing and i noticed you didn't edit any spatial data. Great video, keep up the awesome work!
Ok 2 questions for you. When you drop a pin does it take GPS point from middle of the pin box or the tip of the Tack?? Also can you make paths to follow so don't hit bottom or just need to put many pins down?

This is actually a really good idea. Someone should organize this. It would get crazy amount of publicity.

I made this same video 3 years ago way before anyone of the other big TH-camrs. This is just an updated version.
Thank you very much Johnny for explaining how to do this! I have been trying to learn how to use my lowrance 9ti and you have helped me very much with all your easy to understand videos. Again!

Good stuff, been doing it for years. Good for spots and good for marking routes through timber on uncleared lakes.
Yep! This isn’t new. I’ve actually found out why we were catching on a certain spot looking through historical data. Helps too just when you find times when the water was clearer in the image.
Another nice video.

Thank you for putting this together! Great content and explanation of using these tools looking forward to catching more fish

This guy never ceases to amaze me. What a talent he has.
And I have shoes older than this guy. I don't know how I've been fishing twice as long as this guy yet have less than half of the information he has. :)
One of the most helpful videos on fishing that I've watched. Thanks!
Great video man! I really enjoyed your seminar last night. Keep providing massive value my friend!

This is incredibly helpful; boom boom boom !!!!
Would love to see a recommended list of finders that all the paths and waypoints please.

Excellent video and step by step instructions. Thank you Jonny!
89 dislikes?? Why? Cuz you can't figure out how to save files?? Great video and easy to follow.
Very interesting, think I'll have to test it out. Really brings a new meaning to "doing your homework" on a body of water

Great video Johnny. And great timing too. I was just trying to do this 2 days ago and was having some serious issues. I now know what it is that I was doing wrong and will try again.
Very much appreciate the help. Thank you.
This is great stuff had to pause and catch up a lot but that because I’m not a computer wiz. Thank you so much for helping my fishing results
Thank you!!! I found some hidden rock humps just giving a quick look around!!
Awesome video learned things about my lake that I would never have without it.
I rarely comment, but.... Dude! This was well-done, clear, concise, and understandable. You set a high bar for others.
Way cool! Was able to see an old map of a lake I fish today. I now realize that I am not finding the deeper spots!
Is there an easy way to get the data input into the Navionics phone app? Great video by the way!!
Thanks for this video. Question, lets say I do this and later on a add more points of interest. Do I need to download and convert everything again or just the new points of interest, convert them and add them to the SD card?
Watch this a while back. Got a computer for Xmas 😹 my fist program to down load.. thank you for a great video 😺
Great video- obvi will not work for every lake- but a great tool none the less.
Johnny, OUTSTANDING video with lots of great information. Thanks so much for sharing this!
This perfect for anglers fishing from the bank. Awesome video!
You're a genious man!!! Thanks a lot from Spain, I appreciate you.
Nice update to your previous video Jonny!
Makes this process super easy. Thanks again!
Thanks for taking time time to explain this brother. It's appreciated!!
Wicked. Love the website. You are creating an amazing business. I love to see it!! Innovator!
Aussie Murray Cod fisho, here with a Hummingbird 1198c sounder. Holds a SIM card. Thank you 🙏
@fishthemoment - thanks so much. Just one more great tip you've shared. Motivates me to get better at using my electronics.
I just asked this question. A few days ago . Thanks so much for making this vid!!! Thumbs waaaaaaay up
This was a very useful video. Thank you.
I'm not easily impressed but Johnny you've impressed the hell outta me with your wide range of knowledge. To be so young and know so much is pretty dang impressive. Awesome job. 👊

I learn something new every video he does.
The free information is so incredible. Thank you!
I have been waiting for this VIDEO!!! you are killing it keep it up!!!
Nicely made content and thanks for sharing once again!
Ok really glad to find this and your site. Thanks for your hard work. I’ll be using this.
Thank you for the update, professor!
Thank you for explaining this. This is very valuable information.
Great information. Thanks for sharing your knowledge.
Can you show a video of what it looks like when you have loaded it into the fishfinder please.
Thanks so much Johnny .eventually I will get it with your help .
Any difference of using a KMZ file vs. KML? GPSVisualizer will convert a KMZ to a GPX and seems to work well on my Lowrance Ti2.
Wow awesome video. I've shared this with my friends to start following you.
Great video. Thank you for taking the time to put this together.
You are a great teacher. Thank you
You're a good teacher. Thanks!
This is brilliant! I'll start using this right away.
Great info but I would only do this if I was competing. Possibly do it for home lake if feeling like playing computer guy.
Absolutely brilliant. Thank you for being so giving with your information 👍

simple to understand.. thank you sir
You explain things very well Johnny. 👍👍
Helix and Core require .HWR however, Solix and Apex take .GPX direct.
Getting ready to put all this info to use next weekend. 👍
VERY HELPFUL BROTHER. Thank you very much
Such great info as always!!
Awesome video, as always! Great work!
Do they seem to actually line up well when you fish them? Map projections can be a tricky thing and i noticed you didn't edit any spatial data. Great video, keep up the awesome work!
Really wonderful info. Thanks so much
I see u have lake fort smith on there. I like to see what u have there.
Awesome video! Thanks for sharing this information....
