- Whether you insist on calling them sports activity vehicles or just SUVs like the rest of us, BMW truly has the bases covered when it comes to utes of all shapes and sizes. But it's always the entry-level SUVs that are the hardest to get just right. So let's see how the folks from Bavaria dis with the all-new, third-generation, BMW X1. #BMW #BMWX1 #X1

First generation that went through 2015 remains my favorite X1. It was more or less an E90 wagon with rear wheel drive architecture, hydraulic power steering, and available features like AWD, inline 6 cylinder, and M Sport
Yes I wish they kept it a wagon.
That car was especially sought after if it had the 6. But any would be a good second car though.
@@rogercvc6768 so true. I had one, and regret not keeping it. Even though I drive a Porsche now, that X1 35i M Sport is my favorite and the best car I ever had
The only way I gave it a thumbs up! Is because we still have The Legend John Davis still here giving us great content!👌😎👍
Why would they go from the solid 8 speed to a DCT?
It's not progress if tech distracts from driving. Removing physical controls means menu diving means eyes off the road.
I think the theory is (but don't bash the messenger, I have all this stuff and don't use it in my car) you will use the voice commands for thinks like radio and A/C instead of using any controls and therefore will keep you hands on the wheel more. Doesn't work that way in practice. Oh, I also heard second hand that Ford (or Lusicd) stated it can cost $10 million dollars to design a single switch for a car. So...clearly this save money.
If that was the case then there should still be knobs, dials, pulleys and switches.
This is just being stuck in the previous model. You’ll get used to it. This is a classic complaint whenever there is a user experience change.
I love this guy. So glad he is still reviewing cars!
Front wheel drive umm not sale for me. Still looks amazing.
It’s an all wheel drive.
The DCT, touchscreen controls, and trashy video-game instruments would be deal-breakers for me. Guessing it still needs premium gas, too. Quite a feat to combine so many red flags in one vehicle.
no car "needs" premium gas, don't be a sucker
I absolutely love my new Cape York Green BMW X1. Don’t be jelly!
I hear you!😂
I love my San Remo Green metallic!😁
Yes, it was a hard choice. That color is nice, too.
@@Barbara-eq6cm It was really difficult deciding on the color, especially in earlier in the year when stock was low. But was able to check out all the colors but on other models, and narrowed it down to Cape York Green, Utah Orange, and San Remo Green.
Finally went with SRG - there's a duality to the metallic color. In the sunlight it has golden glow to it! So cool!
BMW motto; Superior for 50,000 miles.
If you can`t afford the maintenance, you can`t afford the car.
@@michaelv6870
Seems like you can’t afford one then .
Them 2.0 engines had timing chain issues after 50,000 miles and the fix or maintenance was over $5000
@@reyperez3424 LOL. I have a 2023 M850, a 2024 X5 and a 2022 Z4. So don`t tell me what I can afford and what I can`t afford. And as I said, if you don`t have 5 k for a repair, you can`t afford a car. Keep driving a KIA.
@@michaelv6870 dude that is the sorriest list of cars i've seen anyone admit to owning. you need to be sent down the river.
@@michaelv6870bro just named 3 leased cars 😂
Just got this car and wondered why MW hadn't featured it.
crazy how its faster than the base x3... they need to put more power in that thing.
This is pretty nice looking. The original X1 was just ugly. This looks like a slightly smaller X3. Would be nice if it came in a PHEV platform though.
It does (at least in Europe). There are two engine options xDrive25e and xDrive30e
We do get the EV here (LATAM). It's a great option to consider IMO.
Why are the front seat sport leg bolsters different colors driver/passenger, looks odd.
The bolstering is black on both seats for the two tone look. It's the thigh extension on the passenger seat that's black whereas the driver's is red. That is very strange indeed!
I see they have gotten rid of the adaptive brake lamps to let people know panic braking is in effect
The 2024 X1 BMW 28i should have visible chrome exhaust pipes for an sportier appearance! I would prefer smaller version!!
Me personally, I would rather buy a fully loaded top trim level mainstream compact CUV(Honda CR-V Touring, Mazda CX-5 Signature, Toyota RAV4 Limited) over an entry level luxury CUV. The mainstream models are more reliable, less expensive to service, and has better resale value than most of the luxury models(with the possible exception of Lexus), and the ride quality is usually similar sometimes even better than some luxury models.
Yes but those don’t have a bmw badge. Which is why people buy bmw suvs. I do really like how the x1 looks. But Germans love sticking everything in a screen
You will have to pay over MSRP for a CRV or RAV4. The cult of Honda and Toyota is the worst I’ve ever seen now.
This BMW continues to outperform all of them
Good luck finding a high trim rav or crv in today’s world. Only ones are base le or waiting 3 months and paying 45k. So the price delta is less than 3k
Still just a dressed-up Mini, but their target demographic won’t even notice or care. These will sell very well.
Don’t know where and how the reviewer felt that the 2023 X1 had great steering feel. I recently rented one for a whole week and the steering was completely vague and lifeless… quite a bit less great than the previous generation.
I swear this channel feels like it stuck in the 90s 😂
Last best decade we ever had.
previous gen was junk. it was always hunting for another gear. Maybe BMW has sorted this out using a DCT?
The people who buy that also own a Louis Vuitton bag and have no money in the bank.
And a BBL.
Imo, 😢 styling reminds me of Volvo a little. The interior and power are nice, but pricey for the size.
The rear end looks just like the new Honda CRV rear end
Like ALL BMW's.............NEVER buy the first year of a new production................ESPECIALLY for ANY TURBO
Or even easier: never buy a BMW. Lease while it still has the factory warranty, then let it be some other idiot’s problem. 😂
Great packaging with the switch to front wheel drive architecture - though at a loss to driving dynamics- and powerful, efficient powertrain albeit overly complicated which leads to expensive maintenance and repairs out of warranty. Otherwise unremarkable and pricy for their typical buyers, women, who just view these a “prestigious” handbag to sit in and preen.
It’s always been FWD based and the engine is considered the most reliable in the market lol
