    Traded in my Liberty for the new Renegade. Couldn't be happier with it, really. It's fast, handles really well, and has some nice options. It could be a little bigger, no doubt. But, I get stopped everywhere I go and people have to ask about it. Hoping My Sky becomes available for it soon so I can add it.

    I think Jeep veered off of their beaten path back when they introduced the Patriot and Compass. The way of the future is small, turbocharged, FWD CUVs. Anyone who chastises Jeep for making this smart business decision is blind to the way the market is moving.

      I would like to think I know exactly what a Jeep is; It's an automobile company that makes SUVs, offroad vehicles and crossovers that pretend to be offroad vehicles.

      joh n In my opinion, Jeep died back in 2006 when they discontinued the TJ. I think part of the problem is that after that, they tried to wheel in more people by compromising what a Jeep is supposed to be in favor of more sales (a 4 door Wrangler: seriously?!). Good for business, bad for image among the purists.

      That guy has the typical attitude of a backyard gost-banger. The Renegade is meant to be their global big seller. If one was to see on TH-cam the footage of the Renegade and the 500x on Sweden's proving grounds, they are capable Awd little racers.

      Listening Point I have a FWD Latitude with a 6-speed manual and just the standard features. it's fantastic and a joy to drive. I don't see enough snow in Indiana to warrant an extra $2,000 for a 4x4. Wish Motorweek would be willing to test drive FWD versions of the Jeeps. They never do.

    • @teop7887
      @teop7887 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Aye, if you look at rallye racing in Europe, there is the sub-2.0L class, where many if not most cars are FWD. In fact, FWD can often work better for snow and muddy pavement than RWD.

    I got a new 2018 Renegade 1.3 turbo 2wd Limited. After 1 year and 22000kms it surpased all my expectations. The platform is impressive. It feels solid and rugged, no squeaks whatsoever, it handles and brakes like a sporty hatchback, it is fairly quick for a small turbo and is very quiet at speed. I was in the market and tested all makes in the price range. The Renegade felt more solid and ride much better than any other mini suv I ve tested before it. It is made by Fiat but Fiat knows how to make cars since 1910..

    Good review. Just would point out it have douboe the torsional rigidity than a compact hatch, 70% off the body made with high or ultra high tension steel, so, off course it is heavy and than, off course it isn't a gas saver, but, security have it's price... Not a gass guzzler, but it's ok... I eish we would have tigershark Limiteds here in Brasil but we do not... At least we have the diesel ones here... I'm proned to buy a THawk Diesel one...

    it's not necessarily bad some people don't care what their car looks like and I suppose this look could eventually grow on you the performance number are good. though I would be in the market for a larger more powerful vehicle I can easily see that this car would be appealing to some. hopefully jeep can have all the problems being reported fixed within a couple years. rule of thumb is not to buy first gen cars in their first 2 model years.

    The 2016 Jeep Renegade Trailhawk SUV has a recurring
    power seat problem that prevents the use of the 8-way and lumbar functions. The
    problem causes the driver seat to freeze and lock into a position on the seat
    floor tracks. This could create a serious
    problem in the event of an emergency. The dealer service department is
    clueless on fixing the problem.

  • @jaykay6387
    @jaykay6387 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    I guess if you're expecting this to be a "Wrangler", you will think it sucks.
    Me, I was driving a Toyota Matrix for 16 years and nothing ever went wrong with it.
    But after 16 years, I was bored and wanted a little more "fun".
    I got a "certified used" 2016 75th anniversary Renegade with a 6 speed manual and the "MySky" roof.
    Now, have there been a few "issues" with this car already? Yes. I've had more issues with this in a year than in 16 years
    with the Toyota.
    Do I like the car? Yes, I do. It's not a "sophisticated" ride, it feels like a truck, not a teeny-tiny SUV, which maybe is by design.
    I knew this wasn't a Toyota when I bought it. That's why I bought it!

    According to the Jeep website you can get the Latitude trim with 4WD and the 6-Speed manual. I understand that this will not be a value seller for the Renegade, but I would nonetheless like to see a review with that combination.

    • @nigelpv2
      @nigelpv2 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      TeHBawNeY Thanks for the heads up! Let me know what you think. Did you cross shop with any other vehicles? Perhaps one of the few others that offer a manual transmission/AWD combination? I can only think of two offhand, the Subaru Forester and XV Crosstrek. I think all the other manufacturers only offer manuals with the FWD models, even the Fiat 500x which this shares a platform with.

    • @TeHBawNeY
      @TeHBawNeY 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Nick Cascioli Nope not really because the Crosstrek is horribly ugly to me. ~2 week update. Love it! very handsome car, great gas mileage, surprisingly good handling, nice manual transmission, very comfortable. I honestly can't think of anything not to like about it, definitely plenty to love. I got a 3 year lease and will probably get another Jeep but time will tell!

  • @Callelle6251
    @Callelle6251 9 ปีที่แล้ว

    I'd take a base front wheel drive sport with the smaller motor and a manual in a heartbeat as a daily driver. It's not meant to be a die hard off roader, its for those that want a decent 4 wheel drive vehicle that are going to spend 95% of their time on the road.

    • @RedNekLvr22
      @RedNekLvr22 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Callelle I have a FWD Latitude model with a 6-speed manaual and just the standard features and it's perfect. Don't bother with the bottom-rung Sport. By the time you add air and Bluetooth, you'll end up in price almost at a base Latitude like mine. Only get a Sport if you can live with just air, cruise, and power windows and locks, and without Bluetooth, alloy wheels, deep tinted windows, and fog lamps.

    I've had so many issues w/ my Jeep Renegade, it's ridden with electrical
    issues all over. I just got mine back after it being in the shop 51
    days due to issues w/ the Body Control Module. Parts were on back order
    for months, they finally came up with software updates. They still can't
    get the "Service Vehicle" message off the dash, they've tried all the
    reset sequences and even hooking up the computer, so now they've gotta
    find a software fix for another module. FCA Customer Service sucks to
    deal with. AVOID THIS JEEP!!! I love my Grand Cherokee, and I love my
    Wrangler, but this FIAT is a POS! There's tons of people with same
    issues, but FCA refuses to admit it's an issue, yet there's 100's of
    back order request for the same module.

      firstdaddy In all honesty if I buy another Jeep it will be a low mileage XJ 01' Cherokee Sport or Limited. Mine has been bulletproof reliable and I have yet to get it stuck!

      firstdaddy Grand Cherokee, a unibody based on a Mercedes platform. No, if you're going to talk purity, it's really just the Wrangler. Personally, I have a new Cherokee Trailhawk that can go just about anyplace a non Wrangler 4x4 can tread.

      The new Cheeokee is more capable than most crossovers, the thing that kills it is the 4 wheel independent suspension. It would have been nice if they would have left it with at least a solid rear axle so people could SAS the front end and have a real trail rig.

    Piece of garbage. A design that could have been cool is ruined by shitty build quality. I test drove one today... trash.
