- Ok for those who has been requesting, here it is! I think I covered most (not all). It would be impossible to make a 10 min video of all! LOL, even just some I had to split in 2 parts. SO, make sure you also watch part 2.
hey Rory - its very important to have an uber clean kit specially if youre a makeup artist. Aside for being super sanitary in application, keeping the makeup clean is just as important! Glad you like my kit.
AHHHHH It's great!!!! I love your cabinet its fab!
I will have to watch this again when I am home :)
hey laryn - for powder eyeshadows, I wipe the top surface with tissue, and then again after use. For lipsticks I definitely scrape and place on petri dish, or any of my mixing plates.
hey hannah - the boxed ones are still unopened and just back-stock. If I use a lot of one product, I always make sure i have a back-up stock of it.
hey Laryn - yes I use STICK foundation very often, and use that mostly on every gig. I cut 1/4 of each color and put them in palette. I melt my lipsticks into pans for easy transport. Some I keep in tube, but I srape when I use for sanitary reasons. ALWAYS have Invisible Loose Powder in all my Kits.
hey laadyLike - the empty palettes are available at any free-standing store, not the Macys counter and such. They also sell the eyshadows in metal pans.
Invisible tends to really disappear on anything you put it on, whether on top of foundation or blush. Translucent tend to leave a hint of white color.
Invisible powder is used to set foundation, so its a setting powder. I like it because it goes on any color withot lightening or changing and any skin tone whether youre pale/fair skinnned or dark olive skinned.
hey 8310 - they are just skin care and preparation producst. Some are moisturizers and some prep and primers.
hey belle - I actually like the airbrushed finish to it. Because of the micronized spray characteristics. Definitely great using a 187 brush, but the amount on a small compressed can be an issue vs price, compairing to other kinds of foundations.
hey Sheperdess - Invisible powder is a great setting powder, much like translucent, but it doesnt leave any tone and it doesnt change any color, like blushes, and it goes with every skin color without looking ashy.
you can get those at any freestanding MAC stores - just ask for the refill pans instead of the pots when you decide on a color.
hey iLov3makeuP - not sure what youre question is about. Are you planning to transfer some broken shadows into jars? Or are you storing panned shadows into jars?
I get them as I need them - when a client request a specific color or from a collection, thats when I get them, as long as they are still available. And eventually, your collection expands.
MAC is a Canadian company based out of Toronto. I assume its pretty much all over Canada as well. MAC website displays prices in US and Canadian, i believe.
yes all the time -- I toss out eyeshadows after 2-3 years, whether I used or not. Foundations and any creams after 1 year. Mascara after 2-3 mos, powder blushes after 2-3 years. Very important specially if youre an MUA.
hi claudia - I cat my eye brushes by type. Al blenders together, all flats together, all fluffs together, etc.
hey Goldie - I started learning makeup in Theater which is my main background. Thene everything else just kinda fell in place. Workshops here and there helps as well.
thanks Alli - little by little you can build. Just get them as you need them and eventually, you will need a bigger room to store them LOL. Just take your time to build your kit :)
hahaha yeah I know huh! Well sometimes I would buy 2 of something to stock so I dont open until I need them. Yeay for the salon job! and definitely best of luck with the BA.
yeah I melt them in tin pans - same pans for eyeshadow, or I use acrylic jars. Like I use in my Melting Lipsticks tutorial.
yeah EBAY or maybe even calling the MAC Long Gone But Not Forgotten Hotline - I dont have the number by hand, but its a new program at MAC that they will find limited editions & discontinued at all locations inc. warehouses and ship to you. Call Customer Service for the number.
honestly, I used to. But it kept breaking on me :( so i kept exchanging it, and I finally gave up and just bought a different one.
hey yoyiarg - i just cut them and place on the palette, and I dont melt the foundation. The palette is NC20 to NC50 on the top, and NW20 to NW55 on the bottom.
Lip erase is a nude colored balm used to neutralize the natural color of your lips, so that you get the most out of your lipstick colors.
hey lucky - yes they are called BRUSH BELTS, and they are avail at MAC. Altho - Ive only seen them at PRO stores.
hey Ali - oh gosh, I stopped adding the reciepts! LOL but I get them as I need them. And eventually you're collection will be huge.
PIGMENTS are the pure color added to any makeup. It is multi-use. If you want red blush, you add red pigment to the talc powder, press, and voila! Red blush! Eyeshadows are basically pressed powder with pigments as color. SO - in short, Pigment is an ingredient contained in an eyeshadow.
hey EJ - A1: There are so many great brushes out there. I have Body Shop, but I find that the base of handles flares wide and doesnt fit in in my brush roll/belt. Napoleon Perdis brushes are nice. A2: Watch my MAC Brushes review. It has must haves for beginners.
hey mua2be - exactly! You can definitely look into hitting places like The Cosmetic Company Store - they sell Estee Lauder products (including MAC) at a discounted price. These stores are located at most Outlet Centers. There are various online stores and tradings also you can look into. Starsmakeuphaven sells MAC products in sample sizes - great to start with. You can ask your family for certain products perhaps on your birthday, Christmas, and other occasions.
Invisible Powder completely disappears in your skin, whether youre Fair or Dark. Translucent still have a slight color to it, and can look ashy on very dark toned skin.
hey saradbean - its called a Lipmix Palette. Available at Pro Stores.
Yes I do label them for color reference. But if you use them often enough - you will automatically just memorize the color. I am working on sanitizing products video!
some are from MAC and others are mostly from Michael's Craft store. You can watch my MAC Brushes vs Painting Brushes video to get more idea!
SkinFinish is MAC's mineralized powder. The liquid form is called SatinFinish.
available at any MAC PRO Store. You can call the order line and you can but there too.
hi Kristen - I throw them away when they reach their expiration, and replace with new ones. I have a video on when to Discard products if you havent watched it.
I use rosey and nude colors for cheeks and lips. For the eyes, i go a little more color. The palette i featured in my BASICS/Starter KIT video are my fave bridal colors. Earthy and great for daily wear too.
I absolutely love how well you've organized everything! All that stuff and no filing system would be a nightmare
thanks for sharing!
I started doing theater makeupa nd eventually moved on to doing glamour looks. Word of mouth is best, just tell your friends to tell their friends and so on... eventually you will have a clients list.
I get them as I need them, and the next thing you know, you have loads!!! yikes. I didnt even realise how much I have until I made this video.
watch my BASIC/STARTER kit video - the eyeshadow palette I featured there is also the one I use on my brides. I make sure I have enough foundation in the palette, and I refill them all the time for the next gig. I only carry Light, Medium, and Dark in both undertones, and I mix those to match the client's color.
yes - smell is a good sign of makeup going bad. Base perios is: Any powders, 2-3 years, Any Creams 1 year, includes lipsticks, liners, gels. Mascara 2-3 months.
Geez Louise... what a collection. I have like a quarter of what you have! I hope your makeup is insured!!!!
I need a huge train case like yours. Hmmm... put that on my Christmas list.
Gorgeous collection. So well organized too. It looks like a drawer right out of the Pro Mac store. Great job, thanks for sharing :)
hey sugarlisx - they are actually just little carton square boxes (i think some snack)that I saved and made to holders.
WOW! Your collection is super organized and professional looking. I'm sure you have a huge clientele!
they are $12 each for the 15-well palettes, and 6-well Blush palettes.
its for setting your foundation, without leaving that ashy lood like other powders.
hey CaliCosm - glad I can inspire! where do you freelance?
have you been collecting all of this over the years? how many different mac products to you a buy per year? this is really amazing...
Fantastic collection! I like how you have everything at home stored in that neat black windowed cabinet- very classy :)
What kind of train case is that? Love how it has storage up top for tall items PLUS lots of drawers
Koren,
I finally purchased my first 15 shadow palette! It took about 5 weeks (on ebay), but I won late last night! I have several refills to go into it, as well as I'm filling some of my old quad palettes. Question: do you toss shadows after a certain time, or are you like me - keep them if they haven't discolored/changed/acquired an odor? I'm not an artist, so don't use as much as you would.
hey Tammy - its actually Eucerine Skin Repair -- just another great mositurizer for uber sensitive skin
hey lyndz - not sure what you mean. Pot makeup?
damn you have a store. Tell me if theres ever a sale, I would love to go shopping lol
DAMN! When you have a train case that's when you know you've got a grip of make-up. Very organized. Love this video.
Wow! you are very organized. Thanks for giving me some tips as to how to organize my own makeup.
from Sephora and they are $16, i believe.
ALL I CAN SAY IS,"AHHHHHHH!!!!" I was having a pretty sad day...that is until I looked at this video! I love how everything is so organized!!! It's always a pleasure to watch your videos! Keep up the good work! -KC
I'm drooling!!! I'm a makeup junkie!! Wish I was as organized as you too!! Carol
I don't know if anyone has asked about this yet - but do you have a suggested shelf life for your MAC products?? I assume stuff like shadows last for years - but honestly - do you have to worry about a shelf life or bacterial contamination & therefore toss some stuff regularly?? Thanks Koren =)
Hey, I love your collection and how everything is so neatly organised! I'm in the process of making the eyeshadow and brush organisers! Just wondering whether you made the containers that your shadesticks/sponges are in, or bought them? Thanks :D
I loved looking at your collection! It's great that you use other brands like UD and Maybelline (I love UDPP and Maybelline Superstay lipcolor). Thanks so much for sharing!!!
I to am a freelance Makeup Artist. I fell upon your videos today and they are great. I had the day off today and became addicted and watched nearly all of them : ) You have great ideas! Question: Next to your mac pigments in your cabinet you mentioned pigments that you bought on a website. I could not understand what you said it was, but would love to know it. The colors were so bold and pigmented. Thanks!!
any crafts and paint stores, office max, office depot, staples, walmart.
Unbelievable...and then i was just thinking to myself this is more than i could get through the whole lifetime ..you reminded us not to miss the part two of this video...PART TWO!!!??...oh my goodness..my heart is not prepaired to stand more of this amazin' collection...i guess i must have to catch my breath first :) and thanx for tips. very helpful:)
OMG, so having chills. Your collection is is just beyond words.
You Mac Addict you! I love you!!!! You have the greatest sense of style.I've learned a thing or two since I started watching your videos. Thank you.-Jess
hey walrus - the one with the drawers is a Japonesque brand model CP-175 just google and see where you can find. I got it from makeupcreations (dot) com when it was on major sale. The larger aluminum one is from EBAY - thats another place to find good rolling train cases too.
NOPE - I never use the wand that the mascara came with. The ones I use on my videos are my personal ones. For clients I use ALL disposable applicators, including lip brushes and gloss brushes as well as mascara and brow wands. Its definitely sanitary this way. And of course I throw them away after 2 months, barely used or not.
well, enough to keep me busy, but not too busy that I cant do my stage stuff, or make more videos! LOL
hey nabi - NYX pigments are pretty nice, and for the price, definitely affordable. The Go Nadia site has been under construction for quite sometime now, so Im not sure what is going on there. Check out starsmakeuphaven also for sample size pigments.
do you keep things boxed or are they just unopened?
if you do just keep them boxed is that just so you can easily see the different shades or something else?
Koren,
How do you sanitize your products (besides cleaning applicators) so it is ready for your next client? Also, do you label your pallettes so you don't have to memorize the colors names?
I love Christmas too! for that reason :)
Maybe you could do a video discussing this? I think it would be important for many people.
Maybe you have a system for dating your products or something you could share. I think most of us are horrible about tossing products in a proper time frame! Thanks so much Koren!
hey Purr -for my clients who has extremely dry flaky skin. I mean we are talking pealing flakes.
YOWZA!!!! You are very organized, I want a cabinet like that....and a collection like that!!!
Your organization is stunning! I love it!
it is from Tarzan! I love the beat...
what are the colors that use for you bridal palettes? Eyes, blushes.. also when you put your foundation in the palette is the amount in the paletee enough? Do you put all the color foundations in your kit? I am sorry i am not crazy. I need a way to get and stay organized.thanx
it was GoNadia (dot com) not sure if theyre still around. Have a check any way.
hehee 0 didnt you just commented on my homemade mixing medium? cant keep track of you. Your Karaoke bash was splendid!
Do you freelance fulltime, or have you worked for a cosmetic counter such as MAC? You have a great collection!
omg amazing lmao how do you get started as a makeup artist? I'm goin for my graphic design degree but after that I wanna go back and be a licensed cosmotologist and be a makeup artist...just not sure exactly what are the best schools out there that actually help
Woow, I'm in such awe of your collection! But I just have a quick question, where can you buy an empty eyeshadow palette? Is it just a pro store thing or can I pick one up at my local MAC make up counter? Also, do they sell just the pans or do I have to individually depot them? (I'm just stating my collection so I have lots of questions lol)
I am so jealous! I could look through your collection for days. Thanks for sharing :)
when use eyeshadow and lipstick in your palette (on clients) do you srape it out on to a petri dish or do you use the color right out of the palette with a clean brush?
Congrats on your upcoming wedding! when is the big day?
Hey Koren, I know you posted this vid a LONG time ago, but I just stumbled upon it. I would love to know where you got the train case for your bridal gigs. I'm a freelance artist, and my train case is not nearly as functional as yours.
Hi Enkore.I love this video, I watch it all the time haha!
I was just wondering what the invisible powder is used for??Also wanted to know what mac product is best for achieving a natural glow to the cheeks? - cream colour bases, blushcremes, blush? Please help!
Great vids! x
Oh, also could you tell me what brand traincase your bridal traincase is? I've been searching for a great traincase with drawers like that. Thanks so much!
just get what you need for now Sam, and evetually you will own a great collection.
Hi enkore.........i loooooveee r vids.U r an wasome makeup artist and a great teacher.
