U have to ask their name and don't leave if they refuse to answer. I had it happen to me but I only got 1 min up road. Ur actual rider could rate u bc u started the ride.
Uber should make riders show ID like we do and pic. I have ppl give me nick names and middle names. 1 time someone gave me 4 names and none was what I had as rider

I keep my doors closed. I roll down my front window and ask politely their name. I do NOT give my name or ask their name. I wait for them to respond and if they give a wrong answer I say, that this ride is for someone else. So far this has only has happened once with me when I used to yell out the name of my PAX and welcome them.
If someone climbs in without offering a name or asking if I'm their driver by my name, I ask if they're David. If they say yes, "sorry, this isn't your Uber"
my car doors stay locked when im driving the only time the unlock is when i shut my car off or i unlock the doors so i can keep my doors locked until i get the right person

I’m an Lyft only driver in Los Angeles and I can say for certain over here the cabbies are complete jerks. I had one try to make me drive around aimlessly while he looked for an address. Even after I said “sir I don’t get paid for driving around with no destination. If you can put it in the app first I would appreciate it.” He tried to get me to go again so I ordered them out my car. Cancelled the trip and moved on.

Uber's rating system socks as hell . They should have only 2 star system 1 for good and 2 for bad, because 2,3,4, or even 4.5 star doesn't do much for a driver
have your friends request if you ever fall below the 4.7 .... yes youll have to spend money but your rating will shoot back up .. take 50 rides with your friends ( minimum fares ) uber will take what 3 bucks .. so you paid 150 to get a way way better rating .. use the good rating to your advantage .. put fake throw up to a drunk that was mean to you and have them pay you 250 .. so you actually made a 100 bucks and a better rating .. your welcome ;)

I am glad to have Uber in my town.A taxi driver is treated better by the cab company they no longer have a monopoly.The rental rates for vehicles are coming down I get a replacement vehicle immediately when I break down, I get more flagged calls downtown no more waiting especially when prices for Uber surges.I can get 4 calls to Ubers one on average.Tips are better especially when prices surge they are glad to get a lower price .
Good vid good advice. Always check double check and confirm with your pax who they are. Also use intuition and common sense to defend against abusive riders or riders that wanna steal other ppl rides.

You can uodate the destination and contact uber later, you should always verify the name first at pickup.

Yeah, definitely make THEM state their name. Also, you shouldn't have your actual number available to passengers. Let Uber use a dummy number to patch through to you.
Uber should require that they take a selfie have it on their account. ONE of the reasons I like lyft their picture is big and easy to see when you get the request.

I think your passengers was getting a call from their driver. They probably just paid the $5 cancellation fee and got the free ride from you.
I usually ask them to show me their uber/ lyft app to make sure it's me as their driver. If they wanna make more than one stop, I tell them update the address from your phone so I know it's you.
I always ask their name and confirm the address to make sure it's the right passenger.
People will scam you sometimes. And leave out the car pretending to be someone else, so consider that.

That happend to me once when i first started driving i picked up the wrong passenger by mistake, and from then on ive always verified who is getting into my car and havent had a problem since.

Always, always, always rate the non-tipping riders 4 or below to alert other drivers and yourself. Because, after a few non-tipping rides, these cheap riders ratings will show up low 4 or below 4, then you decide...... Example, non-tipping riders after 5 rides (5+4+4+4+4)/5=4.20, after 10 no-tipping rides (5+4+4+4+4+4+4+4+4+4)/10=4.10 ...... I'll not pick up riders with less than 4.33 rating because most likely these are either problem or non-tipping riders.
cooi88 maybe this works with uber but with lyft they make the driver rate the passenger before they are even allowed to take another ride. So the driver is at a disadvantage this way.
and how are you supposed to do that. as soon as the ride ends you gotta rate them. you cant even see how much you made. it forces you.
The passengers have more information than the drivers though and they should have known it was the wrong car and the license plate didn't match.I don't think they did it by accident.I think they jumped into someone else's ride on purpose.

Happened to me but the problem was 2 people named Lauren at the same hotel both going to the airport (what are the odds)... I picked up the wrong Lauren luckily we caught it quick when she asked me to stop along the way and called me Dave. I brought her back and met up with the right Lauren in Dave's car at the hotel.

I received ,1 star my 2nd week drop my rating from 5.0 to 4.5. However just be a safe driver and get your pax there safely. Your ratings will shoot up again.

You should ask their name from jump street because they could've called and you showed up first but for another individual. That's on you though because you should make sure they identify themselves.

I picked up the wrong person the first day I started working with uber. I though they changed the name on there uber account. I think I got 1 star for that and the person that I picked up was mad because I started using my phone to look up her address.

I ask the person what their drivers name is....if its me, then I know they are my passenger. I found that 9 times out of 10, your passenger isn't even the account holder, so their name doesn't matter that much.....as long as the drivers name and destination are right, you're good.

Uber pays 60 to 70 cents per mile now ,..so today in 2017,..with everything included ,..taxes, etc,.. you are actually paying uber to drive for free for them, ,.... do the 2 bars gas test and you will see,.. you are not making 5 dollars an hour with uber or lyft,..not even close !!

hands talk about safety while driving. Just hope that noone else is
being lied on as I have had it just happen to me the other day. Lyft
should have all unsafe drivers such as this character checked or
researched up on.
I've never had a problem like that except for once I always ask them their name and then confirm their destination I only once picked up the wrong Rider but the writer's name that I picked up was the same name so it was an easy mistake both writers just happening to have the same name it happens I know the Uber platform says 2 not ask them their name but how else are you going to know their name when they come up to the car I rolled down the window and ask for the name of the person on the app that it says I'm picking up they confirm the that's their name and then they get in then I asked them if this is the proper address for their destination after they confirm that then I hit navigate

Obviously what happened here is that the people I picked up had called a traditional taxi and got in yours by mistake. Those calls they got were obviously from the cab driver they called. Why didn't u take the people u picked up and charge them normal cab fare and put the money in your pocket? You're an independent contractor, right?

The only way you keep the fare is if it goes unreported. Nine times out of ten the real rider is going to report it
