What an absolute thrill it must have been for Govind! I would love to hear from him about how he found hitting with Novak. The pace, consistency, depth, angles, etc. Even from just those few points, it looked like Novak was on fire, so good on Govind for how he played.
Nanda is ridiculously good and Djokovic's rally ball basically pins him into a defensive position on every point. The level is insane. I'm a 5.0 tennis player and I probably couldn't get a game off Nanda. In fact, It would be struggle to win a point. So to extrapolate that to Djokovic is ridiculous. The level to sports are incredible. IF they only showed this court level view on regular TV, it would only serve to pull more people into the sport as the athleticism and speed required is lost when viewed from above.
But that view is what makes it viewer friendly.. Tennis players and some viewers might differ.. But I'm sure majority would want it the way it is... At some stage they change the camera angles and it gives the viewer a different experience for sure... But to make it the norm would not be a right decision... Otherwise it would have been done by now.. Top view is what i reckon is best view for the one who is just watching it for entertainment.. But an aspiring player or the one who is interested in the nitty gritties of this beautiful game might like lower and side angle view and might share ur view.

Novak didn't look like he was playing serious tennis. He had Govind on his back foot for most of the rallies and Novak was hitting drop shots instead of continuing to attack. There is a big difference in the skill level of these players.
I think one of the main difference is that Novak seems to be more times in balance when he hits his shots while his college opponent here looks a lot of time rushed. And Djokovic didn't play 100 percent in the attacking shots according to this video. A little bit more like an exhibition match.
He's rushed and off balance because he's playing against one of the greatest tennis players of all time, mate. Govind plays #1 singles for DIv 1 powerhouse UCLA and his career high ranking is #330 or something.
Its clearly visible that Novak was being way too much casual and soft with him, and yet his pace & spin was too much to handle. Just goes on to show the vast difference between college/club/low tier players and pro players.❤
yeah, maybe competitive for a set, but I watched some young kid take it to Novak for a set during the US Open, but as the match went on Novak just got better and better and ran this kid all over the court. By the end of the match Novak still looked ready for another 3 sets while the American kid was looking for air.
@tijgertjekonijnwordopgegeten my point is the courts are in poor condition and that can cause injury while sliding. If there are stains in the back where they are, that can also cause you to slide too far and get hurt. Even at the HS level they don't let you play until courts are completely dry.
Novak is like Maverick from movie of the same name. Early points are used to find your tells and your weaknesses. By the end of the set, he'll run his game all over the opponent ❤

@@Blueian742 I do not know how my comment proved your point. I think there is a significant gap between these levels but much smaller then between club player and college player. You can take UTR tennis rating which is more or less linear scale of level of play. So top player have UTR around 16.0. Good D1 college players may have UTR around 12-13. Now for comparison intermediate club player of 4.0 USTA level would have UTR around 5.0 maybe 6.0. So you can see that the difference of the level is much larger there. Even though difference between 12 and 16 UTR is still pretty solid.

It is not same level of difference as between Djokovic and this college guy. He could rally with Djokovic and he will win points and even occasionally games. But in a match play if Djoker takes is seriously there is no chance to win a set. Let's say difference between them like between D1 and D3 college players. But D3 player is not sloth at all. Us club players we not playing same game as college players at all, almost like they are playing tennis and we are doing something else :)
