I expected Robin Soderling to show up. 😅 Rafa gets upset too. That's one reason why l like tennis. It is mano a mano. Personalities, game styles, even outfits will clash on court. Rafa is a great guy. What l didn't expect is to hear Fabio speak in Spanish really well. And Rafa responding in English...que raro verdad!! Nice compilation.
I don't remember this Gaudio match at all. Interesting time. At this moment, Gaudio is the reigning king of clay, probably nervous to defend the biggest title of his career. Rafa was unproven but rapidly ascending and obviously about to begin the greatest claycourt career ever. But he must have just seemed like some punk kid to Gaston. Both their fortunes changed so fast! Even with that pressure, Gaudio's being a bit of a crybaby.
He's a great player no doubt but he seems to think hes above the rules and has a high sense of entitlement, was also probably the worst loser on tour, face like a bulldog chewing a wasp when he lost finals to Novak. I also wish he spoke his mind more instead of saying things he thinks people want to hear, cant stand it when athletes are gutless PR yes men. Grow a spine and be man.
Gaudio is the only one I would hate to meet one day because his big ass who was the reason he’ll remain a one time grand slam champion, be barely had a career
I don't like Nadal at all for the small things he always does to/that get oponents off balance. But even so, he's one of the most professional players I have seen and I repect him for that.
I think Rosol and Berdych are the only ones that Nadal really didnt like. Yes he had an argument with guys like Fognini and Monfils but theres a lot of mutual respect between those guys.
You can even see him and Berdych cooled off a few years later, and their handshakes became warmer around 2012/2013. Fognini was a weird one in that him and Rafa always seemed to get along off-court, would even grab dinner and hang out, but on-court they always looked like they hated each other. Somewhat cold handshakes, very tense matches (Fognini actually did a great job matching up with Rafa).
Ridiculous how many players always had to wait for Nadal with all those obsessive manners before every point. And as soon anyone complained they got thrown under the bus..
