- We’re moving full steam ahead with the Interior of the Heavy Metal cab coming together and now’s the time to get the dash set up. We’ve got new gauges, old gauges and a bunch of empty holes where switches and knobs lived in this truck’s former life. Stacey lays out the dos and don'ts of getting your dash updated and a layout that makes sense before it gets installed. Gearz hits the road with a special delivery for the Hot Rod Institute for all they’ve done for us and the restoration industry. Feeling a little down about your project? Greetings from the Porters. I just love Heavy Metal…radical paint and dash! 🥰 I’m looking forward to taking my old REO apart so I can make it a radical ride! I’ve learned a few more tips from you that I’ll use. I need to check out a good bead roller…I will need one for the floor panels! 🧐 All of my work on that truck is mostly gonna be outside. 😳 But still, I’m about ready to kick into gear and get it rolling! Thanks for all that you do! 🤩

I love this project because I have the same cab over truck but it’s a service truck with a 14 foot bed lol mines got the dt466 Diesel engine tho so be cool to redo it as a retro service truck lol
Once I remount the 6.7 diesel in the ranchero I'll submit it to what are you working on

Stacey ....I love heavy metal. ....What I would like to see in the middle of the dash is a CB radio a must in a wrecker, a am-fm radio and a back up camera screen. Plus a few 12v plug in receptacle and USB ports 👍👍 OH! And few other things I would like to see is a shiny air horn and some spot lights with a nice amber light bar somewhere and enough lights to light up the whole work area,front back and sides . Maybe a gasoline mig welder with a generator and a nice vice in the back with some cool mud flaps , with LED running lights 👍👍. That it for me now. Any body else have any suggestions 🤷🏻♂️
The Bushwacker Now that you mentioned it, I think a inferred windshield would be a good idea like the ones Cadillac had on one of it cars back a while ago OH! and a nice air compressor also , with a small bar bq grill like the pipe fitters have on their trucks 💪🇺🇸😎 love your show and love your work stay strong bushwacker

I would love a lift for working on my truck. But something smaller like a scissor jack or something like a Bendpack portable lift. I just don't have the budget or the room for one of those fancy lifts he has.

I never saw this truck done… You can’t even find a “Complete” Picture of it on the internet. I feel like this show got cut and they crushed everything that went along with it.
The show is still going! Some project vehicles from the old show Trucks! were crushed, but none from Gearz have been crushed. It is still in the shop waiting for us to get back to it.
And it’s definitely not a real hotrod if it’s ever completed just needs to be functional. Complete is when the tail lights leave the driveway for the next owner 😂

What happened to Stacy's hand?
Curious as well
Injured it while finishing metal at one of the grinders if I recall. Even the best forget some safety aspects and his hand caught the grinder. Put a couple nasty cuts in his hand around the thumb, index finger, and wrist. Many stiches were put in to help it heal, and the cast was to also prevent infection.
What happened to Stacey's arm?
The two air vents are at different heights ......., would have looked better at the same height .
That is my personal pet peev with car designers. For some reason, they always have the passenger side vent mounted lower. I live in Canada and need to remove ice from the windows in the winter, but the passenger vent is always too low, and it takes longer to defrost the passenger window. Personally, I think a symmetrical dash is not only more functional, but it also looks better.

Joe Gray pretty sure he sliced it on the cab while mucking with the ac during last episode.
@@stephenmoncrieff2056 He explained what happened in another show. He was working on some metal for one of the other projects, didn't have on the proper safety gear (was in a rush, it happens to us all at one point), and he got a pair of deep cuts on his hand near his thumb and index finger, and a bad sprain when the metal caught and turned his arm the wrong direction. I think in another episode it had pictures of the injury.

You know Stacey, a grand assortment of tools probably would have been more helpful. Just a thought.

With all due respect Stacey, you don't need a 140mph speedo for a tow truck, I don't think that a tow truck would handle well at that speed
