Can i store this in the ziplock right away for like 3 days? Making this Thursday night but storing it in ziplocks for Sunday for church kids.
Yes, in the fridge and sealed airtight the icing will be just fine for a few days
How long does this icing take to set/dry in the cookies once used? Thank you, I will try this recipe!
Also can use lightly use hand mixer?
Yes a hand mixer on low is fine. You may have more air bubbles in in than hand mixing but for most uses that no problem. Setting/drying time depends on the consistency you make. If you use all the powdered sugar for a stiff icing it will dry pretty quickly. Especially in gingerbread houses the parts will stick within a minute or so. For cookie icing it may take 1 hour to look set. But I would give it overnight before stacking iced cookies on top of each other
you said the lemon juice was optional, what do i use instead?
You can simply omit it. Most likely you'll need a little less icing sugar. Or use milk of choice
Love it❤
Thank you
Can I use this for decorating cookies?
Yes
i love when skinwalkers teach me how to bake
DAYUM
Hi...your icing looks great...but I'm scared about using raw egg whites....isn't it unsafe to use raw eggs?I just want to know how using raw egg whites in royal icing makes it safe?can you plz explain..thank you for your help
Usually the concern with raw eggs is salmonella. With commercially produced and washed eggs, chances of contamination are very low. You can also use pasteurized eggs if you have concerns. These are heated to a point were germs are killed but the egg isn't cooked yet. You can buy already pasteurized eggs, or only egg whites in a carton. Or read the linked blog post were I explain how you can pasteurize your own egg white at home over a water bath with a food thermometer.
@@Leelalicious thank you very much for taking your time to explain...I appreciate your help
How should i store my unused royal icing for later use?
Cover as airtight as possible and store in the fridge
What about meringue powder instead of egg? Will ot be just as strong?
Meringue powder (about 2 teaspoons with 2 tablespoons of water) works well to replace 1 egg white. It also dries quickly and is strong
What do you do with that 1 egg yolk? Any other recipes you can use it inV
Mix it in next time you make scrambled eggs
HEYYYYY can I put food coloring to this ?? Tksssss
Yes absolutely. I am using natural dyes in the end, but instead you can use liquid or gel food coloring
How much does it make ( looks great ❤
It makes about 3/4 cup worth. The recipe can easily be multiplied if you need more icing
Is it normal powdered sugar or icing sugar
In my understanding powdered sugar, icing sugar, confectioner's sugar are the same thing. Just some countries use one term more than others.
Does it taste good?
It tastes mostly sweet with a hint of lemon. You can also add flavoring extracts like vanilla, almond, mint etc. if you want to give it a different taste
For how long do we need to keep it airtight
You can use it right away. But if you have leftovers, you need to store them airtight either in a bag or by covering with plastic wrap to keep it from drying out. You can store it covered in the fridge for 3 days
Thank u I scrolled down into 199 or 99 videos tryna make the icing💩💀
Hope this video worked for you
can you use normal sugar
Powdered sugar will easier dissolve. It might work with granulated sugar but the texture may end up a little gritty
How much hours should u put it in the fridge
Up to 3 days
Does erythritol work as well?
Yes, powdered sugar-free sweetener works as well for royal icing
👍👍👍
😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀
Thanks
Raw egg whites?!
As I mention in the video, you can also use pasteurized eggs whites from a carton (especially if serving little children or elderly). Or click through to the blog post where I explain how you can pasteurize egg whites yourself without cooking them to a scramble.
