  • Replacing a capacitor on my chipped P06 ECU
    -The issue i was having was intermittent start much like a lot of Honda Beats PP1 have. This guide was made to show my friends with Honda beats how to replace their capacitors.
    -I purchased my Capacitors on amazon here:

    Throws me back to Electrical Electronics in 2006, I learned how to test these, and learned the values of resistors color bands.
    Now I have an ECU fried 2001 Honda, and don't remember how to troubleshoot this and locate the problem to fix myself.
    I only found this video anything close to repairing an ECU.

    Watching this for my 1jzgte, apparently it's common in older toyota ECU's as well!

    Idk about using paint thinner, but you need 90%+ alcohol to clean the pcb board. As for replacing the capacitor, you should do all of them to avoid having to do this process again. Think about it, if the one that failed is 25+ years old, then the rest are too.

    Thanks for the video and for sharing.
    I have a del sol, 93 automatico, si with vtec.
    After warming up and turning the engine off. It stops sending fuel to the engine. Sometimes I start the car and it works and then shuts down. sometimes it doesn't even turn on. I made a direct wire connection from the battery pole to the positive pole of the fuel pump for it to work. It wasn't the relay or the fuel pump. I did imagine the yellow wire from the relay that goes to the pump, and it wasn't. I imagine with your video that it may be a defect in the capacitor. probably this one that changed. My ECM is number 37820-P28-A51 and I changed it for 37820-P28-A52. presumably for the same defect. Thanks for the help. I'll take a look inside and see if it's in the same place, and how the Capacitors are. Do you have the electrical schematic for this module? Ah, why when connecting the wire from the pump to the battery once, did the black, negative wire from the float burn? I'm walking without this connection. thank you very much from Brazil, Sao Paulo.

      Did you figure your out ? I have a 94, and it doesn’t want to start. Especially when its raining. It has never shut off after starting, but to start it, I have to turn the key on and sit there for a few mins until I hear the pump come on. Wondering if this is the problem.

      @@91GT347 Hi, not yet. The wire is still connected between the two positive terminals, the battery and the fuel pump, with a 10A fuse between them with a switch right after, to turn on the fuel pump. I'm also going to put an original yellow wire between terminal 8 of the main relay, which is the end where a wire goes to the pump, just to see if it already transmits the positive signal to the pump. But I think it's an intermittent problem with the resistor or capacitor on the motherboard, CPU.

    Was the 220μF 35V capacitor included in the set you bought? I would buy the whole kit if that one is included

    is this a very common problem with stock ECU? I just bought a used EJ1. Should I be worried and buy a spare ECU from junkyard?

    I just ordered the capacitor kit, because one of them is broken I already saw inside the ecu. Now let me ask you, will I still need to replace the IC17? Or just the capacitor(s)???
    Thank you.

    What do I do to repair the copper traces on board if they are damaged/ gone?

    • @trancemunkie
      @trancemunkie  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      If the coper traced are gone from corrosión you can use a wire to jump the lead as long as it's a single level lead and not a double level lead. Good luck i hope that helps.

    Would it just be easier to replace the ECU as a whole instead of individual capacitors? 1992 accord.

    • @TrackSol
      @TrackSol 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The replacement ECU will be just as old and should really have the caps replaced anyway. You could of course buy one that’s been refurbished with the caps replaced, cleaned and tested at a premium price. Current street price for those is about $350 vs $15 for some caps.

    Sorry brother, can in pay you to do this for my ecu. I have the capacitors with extras in case any break. I am too scared to solder- I am starting my journey in finding a technician who can do what you did 😅

    I appreciate the video, but you know you’re using flux that’s for plumbing, right? That’s why it says water soluble on it. You should be very careful.
