I just got my Boss 25 today and I was super confused and thought got a ripoff. Thank you SO much for uploading this because it took me a while to find a video without the screws😅! You’re a life saver man!
I felt your pain. I been told there's now a 3rd version 😂 glad I could help
Lol, same thing happen to me, I was getting frustrated cause every video I saw shows the two screws, thanks man.
That's because u have the 2nd edition the first edition came with 2 screws on the bottom..
Thank you for this nobody else has said anything about this problem.
I heard there's a 3rd verson.
Thanks! Would have been nice for Citadel to have put the correct take down manual with this shotgun. Your video solved it!
Great job u got the 2nd edtion one the way you tell the 1st edtion came with 2 screws on the bottom the newer one came with only one screw on top
There are 3 versions of this. The first one I had was what you are showing in the video. I also was confused. After about 100 rounds I had some issues with things coming loose. I worked with the company, sent it to their smith, they sent me it back. The one I have now is a whole different design where there is no set screw on the top like yours and no 2 screws on the bottom.
The one in the pictures is version one, you have version 2 which came out about a year ago, and they are working version 3 it seems.
Good info.
Can you post a picture of the new set up? Maybe tag me ? I curious as to what the modified.
Did they work the barrel nut too? I'd like them to send me another nut so I can use it as a jam nut. That would keepnthat one from loosening up.
It's definitely a upgrade. My buddy got one a few years ago and the two screw are there.
Bro! Thank you! Just picked mine up today and was like WTF! Then I found your video!
Break it in with 2¾" 1300 or 1400 fps and after that you can run 2¾ 1250 all day long. I had no issues after break in.
3" shot shells I had issues.
I'm a little guy. The 2¾ are plenty enough for me lol.
Have fun bro!!!
Just bought one as well. Exact same thing. Older model has screws newer one 1 screw on top. And yes you have to WHAAAMM the damn thing off. It’s brand new and was really on.
I just bought mine and noticed the same thing found your you tube video thanks for posting I was really confused
I'm really surprised Legacy hasn't updated their TH-cam channel on this. Glad I could help.
Its a fun shot gun to plink with.
I been using the Walmart Winchester 2.75" 1200fps loads. Those work really good. No issues.
Thank you sir! Huge props on this!
Huge help. I appreciate this.
Thanks brother. I was having the same dilemma.
Yes, your video helped. Thank you 👍
Glad it helped. I know how frustrating it was for me. 1300 fps shells will work pretty flawlessly. Under that I found it was a hit or miss. Also I had no issues with 1300fps short brass. It was actually easier to load the mag.
When there new there tight no big deal oil the rails on the side of the barel shroud it will go on smother and off faster..
thanks man, I was struggling lol
Thank you!
Glad I could.help..
I wish this was the first video that popped up when searching the disassembly
I found one by accident. Man I kept looking fir screws that were not there anymore. Lol
Thanks
1. Remove the top screw.
2. Lock the bolt back.
3. On the left side, flip the forward switch to unlock the hand guard.
4. The hand guard should slide off without having to use a mallet on it.
For a.few of us the hand gaurd did not simply co e off. That's why I made this video.
Also the actual Legacy website said remove the two screws on the bottom of the hand gaurd. We'll most of the people come ti g on this video do t have the 2 screws on the bottom of the hand gaurd. Like myself. Iwas like what gives. The dam thing didn't just slide off.
The ballot the hammer
And some good blows to boot, we're all needed to remove the hand gaued and still isnt easy to remove. But I look at it like this. All the lock nuts come loose on this shot gun. So that may be a plus that the hand gaud don't come off easy.
#3? U lock the forward locking lever. Can you post a picture? I think many of us need to see this lever. Mine has a lever on it but it don't move.maybe do a video so we all can see this unlock lever. Thanks

I sat there for like 2 days trying to find out why mine didn’t have the 2 screws😂 I thought I got ripped off
No u got the newest edition the 2nd edition only has 1 screw on top
Did you have trouble taking the barrel shroud off ? I have the same model with the Allen key at the top and the shroud is stuck.
Yes. I had to yap the hand gaurd with a ballot to get it off. It's still not easy. Buy I guess that's a plus.
Tap.. not yap. 😆
Im going to probably make a video on it or something to show you but mine is just dead stuck, im hoping it loosens up when I got shoot it.
The shroud unscrew from the barrel.

Can you show the process of removing the hand guard. I just picked up the same shotgun from Scheels in The Colony.
When you loosen the 2mm Allen set screw, take a mallet or piece of wood and tap on the bottom pitinny rail till it come off. I'll see if I can post a vid later. It wasn't easy.
@thedenalife
Vid will be up in a few
I have this model but in FDE and I think the cerakote is bound at the seam. It WILL NOT come off. I’m about to send it back.
After removing the small 2mm set screw on the top, the brake, the shroud then tap the front site with the side of your hand. It will come off but it's a MFer. Mine was. I used a plastic ballot on the picatinny on the front bottom. Once it breaks free it get easier. After a few dozen removals.
@@v13cave I will try it again tomorrow. I spent an hour and a half trying today. I hit it everywhere with a rubber mallet. No luck. Will give it a go again.
Use a regular hammer on the front site. Just Tapp it. Don't hit it too hard.
Keep tapping it until it breaks free. It will come off. Also, use 1300 fps shells to break it in slow shells are jammers. Make sure you have the correct piston port on. I use Walmart 1300 short brass all day no issues after the break in.
@@v13cave tapping toward the gun, or away from. I’m confused cause this thing is just solid on here.
@@v13cave won’t I break the front sight? It’s just plastic.
Same thing, still won't budge after set screw out and mallot
I wonder if that small lever on the left side of the shotgun is part of the issue.. I used the front site to pound with my hand.
Have you already fired yourself? I had no issues with the small piston and 12 Gauge 2¾" 1450, 1⅗oz, #5. My shoulder is hurting but a bunch of fun to fire off.
I beat it pretty good.
When I bought it they said nothing under 1300 fps so that's what I bought, but no.... I haven't even put a round thru it yet I just wanted all the factory oil off and wanted to oil it and clean it myself before shooting but that damn hand guard 🤦. Hit it pretty good too idk
@teebleeze4087 frustrating, I know. Take it back to where you bought it and have them get it off. That way, if it is damaged, its on them to replace it.
This one I picked up was no fun to remove. If you zoom in on the pickinini rail on the bottom where I said I tapped it you can see a mark from the tapping. It wasn't until I beat it good that the hand ail cam off. The way it flew off, I thought I Broke it.
Definitely need to get the oil and grease out of the ports under the piston.
@@teebleeze4087 did you figure it out?
