  • Can a pile of scrap Ford OHC Pinto parts provide what is needed to build up a running engine for minimum cost?
I have uses for a running engine however I quite fancy the challenge of a budget build.... How cheap can we go?

Got the same block with those numbers & screws in my 1983 Capri 2.0s. I have also not seen one before.

Does it have the X ? I don't think there is anything that special about them but they do raise questions... 🤔 Possibly different techniques being used prior to the 205 block ? Someone has commented saying the answer is in the David vizard book on the Pinto.... however I can't seem to find my copy !

@@BLOWN8CYLINDER yes mine does have the x. No nothing special. But like you say probaly just an evolution that lead to improvements on 205 block?Have a copy of vizard & there is no mention in chap 7 pages 94 & 95 cylinder blocks in my copy!

The Pinto engine also came in 2.3 form in the 80's. I have a Thunderbird Turbo Coupe with one.

Thanks Terry, I have used GT85 for a good 30 years, you used to be able to buy 5 litres and it came with a pump action bottle.... deffo better than WD40... probably why they bought them out. As for the project...just left overs from my Pinto building days, probably enough to build another two 🤔🤣 however this one is basically how cheap can we go on getting a running engine... that could be used. But.... this isn't a serious build, mostly used parts,no machining ... there will be some new parts...either purchased cheap or left over from my building days 👍

I prefer the GT85 to WD40. It seems to work better. Not sure if the PTFE in it makes a difference.

You been working on pinto's for meny years and you've read David Vizard how to mod book for S.O.H.C. Engines and you don't know what block that Pinto is. It's in the book hint. P95. Not to meny of those around mate.

David Vizard ..... he has a channel on TH-cam. Many years ago he did a lot of research and development with the Pinto engine.

i may have access to some old series 2a landrover engines in bits and i had been thinking of getting all the parts needed off this fella and building one from all the parts as this fella has a few engines stripped to pieces im not sure of condition of cranks and cams and cylinders but im sure i should be able to cobble a few parts and make a engine that runs and i have a few carbies here that id wanna try out too and watching this video is giving me that idea. you have some great videos and cause they are good vids i have decided to sub to your chennel, i'll post your vids on my facebook acc here and there so you can get more viewers and subs hopefully.
