Trying out this thing called Boss Katana Go, you plug it into your ass and your farts sound amazing! I would recommend using the Brown preset for this...
Det ska jag testa!
Always the Brown channel, it cleans up nicely when you roll the volume down.
Ola...PLEASE add fretmarkers to your Solar guitars! I wanna buy \m/
pbbbbt. got that 'stage feel' in my shorts. my kingdom for a clean channel.
Like that harmony setting, wonder if you can pick the interval of said harmony. Was quite "Bill n Ted" sounding, which is cool I guess.
Then we gotta test if it'll chug, no?
Arigato, Ola-San - nailed it.
Hey boss, here’s some idea, put it built in to your wireless footswitch pedal and probably also a bigger battery so it can last longer. You can name it Katana Pedal
@@regianalfarizithere we have boss gt1000
@@spanneng then it doesn’t fit on your pocket anymore. What i mean is, putting katana go dsp directly to FS 1 WL footswitch. It will be more practical rather than scrolling preset through small button and charging/power up two separate device. I have FS 1 WL and it’s still fit in my hoodie pocket. I think in NAMM I saw it in mooer booth where they have mooer prime s1 which is basically mooer p2 + it’s wireless footswitch combined in one device only and still maintain its small form factor. I believe boss could do this also
-where is it manufactured?-
-WHERE IS IT MANUFACTURED?- nevermind, Vietnam, alright
please do not hate me for asking, but what is the input-output delay? couple millis?
Man, I can't imagine this being possible when I was a teenager just learning. Had you come up to me and said there'd be an amplifier simulator that you plugged right into the guitar jack and you control it with a portable phone, I'd have thought you were insane yet here we are.
Korg released the Pandora PX1 in 1996 which was a similar deal, just slightly bigger form factor. The unit was actually pretty sick considering it came out almost 30 years ago.
@@aavavertu229 Not to mention the Rockman X100 years earlier
when I was a teen I would have said "what's a portable phone?"
RIGHT?!?!
@@bkmeahan Exactly, we had a cordless phone in the house and even that was cool at the time.
That's actually a perfect piece of gear for touring purposes not only for silent practice at home but on the backstage too
See the more We make the budgeted stuff sound awesome, the better I believe! 😊
But, to be on the safe side, it's always use the proper recording gear! 😉🤘
Ola is the reason i wanted a katana to begin with. I'm still very happy with my mk1 50w
Mk1 50 watt combo is a nasty Amp! I fucking love mine! I was torn between that and the fender bassbreaker, and I'm just so glad I made the choice I made!
I tried them, like the artist model and felt it lacked resonance or just sound stage though, it was more cut sound. I did mess with it a bit, couldn't for too long in store. But got DT25 instead as I tried it after heh.
That pink guitar is fn deadly bro
What a time to be alive. Access to great guitar tones has never been easier.
@@RumpleStiltzkin-bu5he edgy
@@RumpleStiltzkin-bu5he we have less wars than ever
@@RumpleStiltzkin-bu5he Well if you wanna focus on the negativity in the world you can't change then be my guest, but that comment was very edgy lolol
@@RumpleStiltzkin-bu5he Not as an insult.
@@RumpleStiltzkin-bu5heWomp womp
That's a hell of a paint job on that guitar. I like it.
I was thinking the same thing. Was actually scrolling through the comments to see if anybody else noticed it, lol!
probably a vinyl graphic, but yea, I agree it's cool.
I like it, but that color scheme makes me think of Machine Gun Kelly now.
So, BOSS basically updated the Pocket GT by removing the need for an instrument cable, ditched the hard buttons for more "on phone" control, added dedicated bass amps, upgraded from micro-USB to USB-C, and it retails for less than the Pocket GT did. Excellent work, Roland/BOSS. One company that isn't trying to screw the consumer. They continue to prove themselves again and again.
Now, I need to add one to my current Roland/BOSS amps.
Let's be honest....we'd all have KILLED for this tone 30 years ago when we were rocking Crate GTX and Peavey Bandit amps....these little boss emulators are light years ahead of even most of the good tube amps available then (JCM 900, etc)
JCM900 is bogus and Peavey Bandits are amazing
These tones are better than they should be. Record full albums with this, good to go.
I kill for this tone even today. It's insane
To be honest, I'm not even sure what constitutes a "truly great tone" from something like this unit anymore. I mean... does it lie in the complexity of the tone? I think this sounds fine really... It's more of a taste thing now, I think.
Oh man that Crate GX15. It sounded like cr*p. Having used unreliable fender stuff for the past decade, I'm loving my Katana 50 mkii. This little katana go looks great!
God damn that opening riff is awesome!
Extreme riffage
I thought the same thing as soon as he started playing I said you sold it
Regarding using Bluetooth earbuds, they have horrible latency. About rhe best you can get with modern Bluetooth codecs is 40 ms and most are far more than this.
I believe the Apple Airpods have at least 130ms latency, and usually a lot higher.
That's unusable for playing guitar.
Bro digital stuff is getting so good
reminds me of the line6 amplifi series. It's not updated anymore but it does the job for someone like me.
I have the Fender Mustang Micro and I love that thing; I might try this as well, seeing as it seems to have better heavy tones than the Mustang.
Lost it when Ola started singing to the device trying to test the tuner 😂
He was re calibrating the tuner
These headphone amps are awesome. I bought a Fender Mustang when I was deployed and it saved me. These are great sounding tones for the product.
Man, you really know how to make the most of that small unit huh... I share a similar talent
Just got one of these yesterday and blown away by it! I can now practice downstairs properly. It's not replacing my Kemper stack but for downstairs and portability it is a fantastic device. Wish I had one years ago.
Downstairs?

From the headphone jack , could you plug it into a PA system? Like 3.5mm to 1/4inch cable
I watched all the drop day videos and immediately pre-ordered one. It will be here on Saturday. One day before my 54th B'day. I can tell you right now, back in the day, we couldn't even imagine anything like this existing. Of course, there was no internet, no cell phones, and no digital anything either. What a great time to be a guitar player.
The best time for guitarists.
Happy birthday bro
@@dizzy7454, thank you.
You did miss one of the key features, you can load up/stream a song or youtube vid of a song into the device via the app - to then play over. And you can also set loop markers so you can practice over a specific part of it. Its like the ultimate 'learner/beginner' practice amp.
What i did not understand is. U can play through this via phone speaker. Or do i need separate speakers?
Having worked on it, I'm glad you liked it, and I might get myself one, too ^^
❤
oh wow, that pink X solar is beautiful !!
@@RumpleStiltzkin-bu5heI have some pink guitars. And I think Tainá Bergamaschi is a hottie! 🥰😍😁

I like how You are playing sort of Glam/Hair Metal guitar riffs, as I also really like that genre of Metal as well! 😊
What about using a wireless plugged to your guitar and the receiver close to the soundboard connected to this katana. Lightest rig ever!
I want one just because I hear I could plug it into my phone and record riff ideas and stuff...no other pedals, no amp, no mics, nothing. Just that thing, a cable, a guitar and my phone. Handy!!
I wonder how this thing sounds plugged into a Mooer Baby Bomb or a Seymour Duncan Powerstage then into a cab.
I liked the song you used as the opening of this video... What's its name?
NUX, please send NUX Mighty Plug Pro to this guy.
Not gonna lie. I was waiting for this review before purchasing. Roland owes you money.
I’ve been waiting for this. Mine is scheduled to arrive on Monday.😖😖😖😖😖. It’s only 8 hours away. Most every demo has little to no metal.
DAAAAAMN THE TES V SHIRT IS CRAAAAAZYY I LOVE THAT GAME
I have played since 2000, have never recorded a single note.
I knew I had never heard of you somewhere. 🤘
@@kevinmatthews9469 I'm my biggest fan, I've heard everything I've ever played.
@@MadAlhazred lol 😂 That's some good shit!
especially impressive if never forgetting the musical ideas running into..
Does the app to run the device cost any money. I got rid of the katana 50 due to them wanting money every month to use an app on my phone. I am not going to do that.
Can you hook your phone or computer to it via Bluetooth and play music or backing tracks to play along with?
I love bacon!
I’ve watched a lot of these videos and no one even mentioned that you can also use it for bass. Which is why I got it. 🤟🏽🤟🏽🤟🏽🤟🏽🤟🏽🤟🏽
I saw andertons video on it and they actually did put it into bass mode and show it off a little.
Sadly Airpods have massive latency. Though if you use Soundcore VR-P10s you get zero latency - usb-c dongle on one side, wireless headphones on the other.
I almost wonder if you could play a gig with this 😂 just plug it into the fx return of any backline amp or even the PA if you really had to. For me who just wants a decent chug tone I'd be totally happy if it worked
Thank you ola. I was looking into one of these for teaching. Easy to transport. Was awaiting you review as your the only gear reviewer I trust. Keep up the good work!!!
Yes it will be easy for you to carry to your lesson. If your teacher has a Bluetooth speaker it will be excellent.
But, if my tutor came to my door with one, I'd start looking for a better teacher. Far too complicated and expensive to be waving in students faces. Sets a poor example of Gear Acquisition Syndrome that is a cancer in the music learning industry.
@@carnage77 this is like a $120 piece of gear. If you think this is too complicated and expensive, what do you recommend for a cheaper less complex amplification option? My guitar teacher back in the day had a fender twin reverb and this thing costs less than a set of tubes would for that old amp.
@@carnage77 This is one of the highest quality options out there for a not used product in this price range, what are you talking about? This is practically as affordable as it gets without going into the used/preowned market. (And that's not to mention the fact this is a portable “amp” that comes with most of the features of a standard Katana for like $200 - $300+ less)
Couldn't imagine this little and power thing when I was playing with a Korg 1500G and an unbranded amp 20 years ago.
About time we got a pink solar guitar 🔥
Yep panning works
Looks great. I have the fender micro and it's legit one of the best products for practicing. This looks like the step up I've been patiently waiting for.
At these price points anyone playing needs one. Great to use in shops trying gear for consistency plus you just always have an amp on you if you want that.
sounds awesome! im thinking this would be useful while travelling or somewhere where you cant be loud and stuff. PRETTY COOL!
i think with all the gears shown, this dude can afford a stand for his phone.
First video I watched made me think "hmmm, kinda cool, might need one"
Seeing it in Ola's hands has me more like "yup, ordering one now"
I need that pink Solar X.
Next week's shitty guitar publication headline:
Breaking news! Ola Englund likes it deep!
I have a katana amp, I have to have this.
Does it have an adapter for guitars like the Ibanez S series that ONLY accept a straight 1/4 inch cable?!? 😅
Sure would be great to be able to connect AirPods to that puppy. Just kinda makes sense!
That guitar...such understated very taste wow :p
Will it chug and Ola testing shit are my favorite video types.
It has tuner! That’s a buy for me!
I wish this was available when I began my guitar journey! This little gadget is super cool and I might buy it for whenever I'm traveling.
There is no better time to start playing a guitar than right now. It's an insane technology.
But will it chug?
Boss gear is awesome, the Boss Katana 100w even has a FR input, works insane with modelers.
love this little thing, i want one!
Damn... Boss just created something that will kill all small amp...
Sick 🔥
maybe it should be pointed out that devices similar to this do exist for more than a decade, what this brings as extra is the extended configurability via the phone app.
Can I play those tones in my Amp by axillary?
10:43 -
The chug version of Back In Black! 🤘
You look cute in pink, maybe I'll get one too. For real😅
I wish it had a short cable between the input and the unit. If the unit had a belt clip, you could wear it on your strap like a wireless. I'm sure it's light, but imo it's in the way.
Slime green on pink would b3 the sickest canibalismo!!!
I just had an AH HA moment while watching this. Just bought my first guitar and was trying to figure out an amp idea.
This fits the bill PERFECTLY! Won’t get the cops called on me at 3am or get the wife pissed off at 3am.
Fucking PERFECT! I’m buying one tomorrow🤘😎🤘
I need that pink Cannibilismo X in a 7 string with a 28 inch scale with an Evertune. My address is linked to my Solar account. Thanks, Ola.
I think the tech is awesome and it sounds amazing. But I don’t like having to use a phone app to control things.
When I’m playing and trying to get inspired I’ve got to put away my phone. It’s just too distracting, it puts my brain on a different wavelength.
I like the skyrim shirt!
The Audio Position was moving between my front and surround speakers. How the hell was a stereo output doing that? That was wild.
I find it is useful for practice right before a show or at the hotel the night before ! I also think they should make it to where you can put in your own backing tracks to play along to for practice !
For everyone losing it over Kemper and Neural DSP, I think Boss is leading the way with new amp technology with the Katanas. I got the mini and it's so portable, it's now part of my lab equipment back at the physics lab. They are just so time/energy efficient.
It's got the same format as a boss pocket GT
Could you use this to wirelessly jump into a PA Channel or and effectively use this as a fly rig? Of is the quality not there for that?
I am god you are a Viking,,,, just kidding. What’s with all the computers these days.
I was wearing my Klipsch earphones for the video and it made a world of difference over the 1st time I watched with my smartphone speaker. I actually want one of these now!
Nope, connecting wireless headphones wouldn't be cool. The latency kills it.
I bought something very similar from another brand last year and it sounded great and worked like advertised… but I never use it. The only intriguing part of the Katana for me would be the acoustic amp model because the one on the Katana Air is very good and I use it all the time. But I can’t imagine needing the Go for anything unless I were routing it into a larger amp, in which case it might make more sense to just get one of their combo amps.
Those folding things, particularly the wireless systems, crap out pretty fast. The wiring from the unit to the plug is too thin to handle being bent back and forth. At least in my experience.
Boss is usually pretty beefy, good engineering. Time will tell for sure
@@zap7759 There pedals are as "tank-like" as it gets. I'm just throwing in my experience with folding plug units. They just don't last. Hopefully these are better.
My katana 50 is such a game changer for a good tone on a budget. Id have killed for an amp this good when i first started playing. Im sure this katana go is pretty dang good for just practicing on the road or practicing when you need to play quietly
If that guitar comes with TOM or evertune I am going to buy it asap!
I think maybe you can do Bluetooth in, but not out? Guess the "stage" mode is kind of nice when you're playing along to stuff via USB etc?
Thank you for posting this!!!
Looks very similar to the Fender Mustang Micro, with the Boss Katana flavor mixed in.
As for the 2nd gen of this or if this thing will gonna have a "PRO MAX" version, I don't mind having a wireless receiver that can be connected to any speaker (including headphones) as long as it uses 2.4g wireless so that the latency can be as low as possible unlike audio over bluetooth.
Esa guitarra esta buenardaaaa
I might have to get one. I have a need to be able to practice quietly. I work graveyard and when I get home early in the morning my family is asleep. This would be very helpful for me.
Can I play music through it to play along to? Like a backing track or something?
Everything with the word Katana sounds like digital trash.
Oof that’s a little harsh lol 😂 it’s not that bad if you spend time dialing in a tone
Cant wait for them to come oit with something for bass! Boss is killing it with the katana series. So much tone for the price
This is also compatible with bass.
I really want one but it doesn't come to Mexico until May it seems. Might have to cross the border to get one
I have the NUX version of this thing, and it doesn't sound as good as this one does.
That should get done if not already implemented Software or hardware Technology. Just like multi Bluetooth device connections for different smart devices to one external sound carrier like Wireless Headphones., or a "Tailgater", a 12" Party PA Speaker. If they did not yet do this, BOSS here is another one We like to get done please?!? Must We email you a notice on this BOSS??? 🤨🤨🤨
Never been a fan of explorer models bud daaaamn this Solar looks sweet
Its actually more like an ML since it has the lower back wing like an ML, pretty cool.
@@Stefan- You´re tight man. This color scheme really suits it and looks awesome!

Can you use your phones audio as an output or is it only headphones?
Awesome!!! Can just bring this little guy and my guitar for practice and that's all i need! Why need to carry heavy pedalboards? haha!!!
