Great demo Andy. Your review appeared to be pretty thorough. @rickyzoom8059 I'm guessing its so that they don't lose money. The currencies are different. USD is currently valued at $1 to every $1.51 AUD. So, every $200USD would be roughly $300AUD, etc. Otherwise, maybe a trade agreement or just because China is jealous of Australia having the best surfers. I don't know.

First, let me say that this piece of gear is BADASS!!! I can certainly see myself using this in several applications, even in live performance. But I can also definitely see myself practicing with it, which is the reason for this comment/question. Did you say that this can be plugged into your guitar and the signal can be sent to WIRELESS, BLUETOOTH headphones/earbuds? If so, I will be using your link to get one today. One more thing, thank you for these vids; you along with maybe 3 or 4 other content-creators are my go to for things of this nature. Keep going !!! You got this !!!
Mine came today , within 10 minutes had I hooked up to my pad and app , making great patches . The only fx which is stereo is the stereo delay , and only works , in stereo , if the Stage setting is off . The Stage setting try’s to replicate a special ambience , maybe it does ,it’s not amazing or game changing . But all in all the sounds are great and easy to dial in , easy to set blue tooth up too . Nice tuner as well . This should sell in bucketloads . Happy customer 😊👍
Very nice review! I just bought one and can't wait. Totally agree that stereo outs would be killer, more so if this could also switch to a true stereo out mode for rotary modulation and ping pong delay. Guess we'll have to wait for the next version.
I like it. If I didn't already own a Spark Go I would totally purchase one, but I feel besides being a bit bigger and having to bring a cable or wireless connectors the Spark Go has no disadvantages compared to the Katana Go. Great product, if I didn't know what to do with all my money I would buy one just to let Boss know how much I like it.
I've been very happy with my Spark 40 and Spark Go. Cant wait to get the cab for my Spark 40. Might get this to replace my mustang mini, used it for years and the circuitry is fried. Edit: I returned the spark go for the katana go, cant wait to try it out. 🤙🤙
IT IS STEREO! But use modules that are stereo of course, like stereo chorus, panning delay and or reverb. Use the headphones out directly and or record via USB. It sounds huge and immense!
Hi 👋 Could you tell me how loud is it through your headphones please? I'm a little hard of hearing and I have found the other devices I've used through my headphones aren't quite loud enough. Maybe to protect people's hearing 🤷🏻♂️ I don't want it super loud just loud enough to hear what I'm playing properly and I can't seem to find any information on it's volume
I did walk > train > walk to a gig on Thursday so anything that reduces the weight of my gig setup is very attractive. Very tempting (and the IR2 pedal seems to be out of stock everywhere in the UK!).
Thx for a thorough review. Looks good, but can you tell me, does it work while being recharged, and is the battery replaceable? (should be good for 1k cycles)
This thing is pretty darn cool! Thank you for answering my biggest question at the very beginning! Awesome that this has a bass mode! Yup, I'm a bassist. Totally appreciate you and your contributions to the TH-cam space! I hope your son is on the mend! Thank you Andy!😃👍
Thank you for the in depth review of this product. I myself have had so many of these little amps and have gotten rid of all but three. What I have left after years of wasting money on them is a Fender mustang micro (so, so and not worth the money), a Vox Amplug2 Classic Rock (fair, not bad price, and somewhat useable) and a Nux Mighty Pro Plug MP-3 (good but...). Out of all that I have left, the Nux is the most versatile and though there are tons of tone selections, I use maybe two of them. Also, you can use the app on your phone (blu-tooth) to adjust each sound just like this Katana Go. However, the Nux has severe limits in tone. In conclusion, my biggest problem with many of these types of amps is that the tone is rarely right, and they just sound flat, uninteresting or way too noisy and dirty. Having heard this amp I may have to bite the bullet and buy this one. To me it sounds better than anything I have heard thus far. I do already have a Katana 50 amp and oddly enough for a solid state amp, it sounds pretty good. Just my 2 cents worth. Peace.
Bought this so I could take my guitar on holiday. I was blown away by the tones. The session tab is so good too, very easy to switch between backing tracks. Tone exchange is cool but I find my downloads seem to disappear when I close the app and I have to download again. Not a big deal as plenty of the presets it comes with are good.
Good review. I like these headphone amps. I have a NUX Mighty Plug, and its biggest flaw is lack of a tuner. Duh?!!! I've been waiting for an upgrade to the app, but nothing. The wireless controller pedal looks to be quite a sweet accessory, and takes these devices from "good enough" practice gizmos to a possible preferred minimalist performing rig. Multi-fx rigs can sound great through a decent house PA.
If it doesn't conveniently fit directly into the guitar, maybe just connect a short cable and put it in your pocket? Btw, can I connect this to headphones via bluetooth, i.e. wire free?
Can you use a Bluetooth earbuds with it or just wired? It seems if one can’t use Bluetooth headphones would be the biggest omission and a complete deal killer for many.
You do unfortunately have to use wired headphones to get live sound out of the katana go (any speaker with an aux input also works). There is bluetooth connectivity but it is only for the mobile app, midi, and listening to your phone through the katana.
Can you turn the cab sim off? I’d love to use this as a preamp and run it into the effects return of a bigger amp. That would be great in a back line situation with the remote footswitch.
A 3.5 mm male to female adapter cable could be used to allow use of a normal guitar cable. Your idea of using the line/ear out to plug into a power speaker is interesting. It would be even better if the Kantana Go could connect directly with a Bluetooth speaker. Personally, I'm pretty happy with my Boss Micro BR. It may be old, but it does everything this new unit does (amps, effects, audio interface ) as well as act like a multi-track recorder and MP3 player. And the built in stereo condenser mics are great for quick and dirty rehearsal capture.
@@davewong7368 I don't really think of these types of devices as supporting live performances - I think of them as more like "bedroom practice" tools. Maybe Bluetooth is not the best wireless choice. I use a cheap wireless system for my guitar sometimes and it is only about 5 msec. It's not Bluetooth but it is super small and fast. But you are right - it you are getting something like 50 to 100 msec latency it's going to be very distracting. Fun fact - you incur about 1 msec latency for every foot between you and your speaker. Not exactly, but close enough for rock and roll.
I have a 12 inch male to female 1/4" cable that i use with my Fender MustangMicro on the guitars where the jack is just 'not in the right place to be usable"
An LED-single line screen would add to the simplicity of the Katana. Currently, you select effects by remembering which color is which effect (like the mustang micro). A single line LCD would allow for a tuner and also a description of whatever effect you’re choosing. “Blues driver” “distortion” etc rather than blue and yellow led.
I love using reverb above all other effects - but that ‘stage feel 2’ is amazing; I might have to buy an expensive headphone amp now - and have my Vox Amplug2 Clean as my backup!
I can't take credit for this, but I saw a post on reddit - if you want to record DI with the Katana GO - simply switch over to tuner mode. That will strip all effects and record the dry signal. Works perfectly. The output is a little lower as expected, but then you can boost the USB output volume in the mobile app if needed.
As an owner of the katana mini since I travel for work a lot. I will say this has a TON of potential for someone on the road. I will say that i like the simplicity (and the sound) of my katana mini over my katana 100. I spent way too many hours messing with the app for my 100watt katana and only ever came up with one sound that I enjoy apart from the clean sounds. I am currently building a guitar and have been thinking about building a case for it with the katana mini guts built in so i don’t have to haul the katana mini around every week. 😂
I have been using NUX Mighty Plug Pro which is a very similar product. Now I want a pocket Katana too! With Boss' present library ecosystem it is way more powerful while maintaining the same technical capabilities. Andy, I need to stop watching your channel. It costs me money 😂 ...but how to say no to all these toys 😉 Thanks again mate!
@@ric2play I just bought one used on eBay, waiting for it to arrive. BOSS couldn’t source all of the components for it, so I think it has been temporarily removed from their line up.
@@TheGuitarGeekHi Andy, I think a lot of people would like to know how you made your switchbox. It looks like you've used some capacitors in there, it's more than just wire and jack sockets. Maybe it could be the subject of a future video. All the best.
I was convinced by all reasons except that it doesn't plug in well into those Ibanez JEM-type barrel jacks! That's on more than half my guitars! But this is another home-run for the Boss Katana!!
It does not fit well with Strandberg. I was able to resolve the issue with a short male to female extension by a company called Poyiccot and a regular wireless transmitter pouch that can attach to the guitar strap or belt.
What a great little piece of gear! Would love to try it out since I have a Katana amp. Good one Boss and thank you Andy for the great and informative video! 🤘
THIS looks really cool, I’ve been looking at these micro things for a bit now but never quite felt that “urge” to get one? THIS could very well be the game changer, thanks for a very informative and in depth review, now…where’s my nearest dealer🤓
Great video. Got mine yesterday. Great product for the $$$. If I have one complaint with the Katana Go it's that there isn't a Drum Machine Feature like the Nux and Flamma mini HP amps have. Big omission
I did a work around for my Ibanez S670QM as I use a wireless system to connect to my amp. I bought a short male 1/4” plug that goes into the guitar and has a female 1/4” on the other end that the transmitter plugs into. My Transmitter then fits in a case that attaches to my guitar strap. Problem of inset front plug solved. My only question with this Katana Go is the same as others…can this thing work with Bluetooth headphones. I hate wires.
Hello GG. Are you saying that, even when listening through headphones, you're not hearing the sound in stereo? If so, I wouldn't buy that over the Fender Mustang micro. For anyone who has the Fender Mustang micro, there's NOTHING like hearing the guitar in stereo. It's worth having the Fender for that reason alone, not to mention the fantastic sounding tones you'll get playing through it. I'm very envious of you for owning that Fender stratocaster you recently received. I want one too!!! IT COSTS MORE THAN I CAN PAY RIGHT NOW!!! OR EVER!!! MAYBE!!!
Loved the in depth video. I have one question, at the 2:10 mark you are plugging the guitar cable into a silver box, the Katana also goes into the silver box, what is the silver box? I'd be interested in hearing the tones through my amplifier instead of headphones and I'm just curious what I would have to look for on the internet.
Amazing a must for everyone. Reminds me when the Rockman X100 came out. but this is a million times better!!!! As for the Plug i would add an extension with cable like a wireless on belt.
For that price you have a mooer prime P1 that's also for a bass, has a looper, metronome and different drum beats, tonecloud and there is a footswitch available, and it fits in your pocket..

Btw, can I connect this to headphones via bluetooth, i.e. wire free?
No, you need a wire.
Great overview, thanks!
The inherent latency in Bluetooth would make connection to a BT speaker for live playing intolerable.
Great idea!
While that would be very useful, it would probably double the price. At least😃
@@smarkalet9078 You think so? They have the same screen in this affordable device. It can't ad that much.
I'm that bass player who watches your channel. Helloooo 👋
Hey there! You are very welcome here
I love using reverb above all other effects - but that ‘stage feel 2’ is amazing; I might have to buy an expensive headphone amp now - and have my Vox Amplug2 Clean as my backup!
I love your reviews!🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼
Although I do not need this item, your video leaves me wanting this item.
We shall see if i purchase this item in the future.
I am truly sorry.
Oh that’s a FANTASTIC idea!!!
It costs me money 😂 ...but how to say no to all these toys 😉
Thanks again mate!
Great job buddy
Thanks Andy!
You are very welcome Peter!
Hasn’t this been discontinued?
@@ric2play I just bought one used on eBay, waiting for it to arrive. BOSS couldn’t source all of the components for it, so I think it has been temporarily removed from their line up.
Hi, thanks for the great video! I am interested to reply your set up: what's the "little (white) box" you are mentioning at 2'00? Thanks!

@@TheGuitarGeekHi Andy, I think a lot of people would like to know how you made your switchbox. It looks like you've used some capacitors in there, it's more than just wire and jack sockets. Maybe it could be the subject of a future video. All the best.
That is a pretty nifty device, very smart to use it near your pedal board with a normal guitar cable connected!❤🎉
Thanks V. I recommend one to anyone who is travelling…. 😊
I heard you sneak in that Steppenwolf riff - who need you!
I actually didn’t. I’ll go listen to the song as I’m not familiar with it.
It's a great time to be a guitar player :)
WAY MUCH easier.
In the 60's we had a record player and a 4 string Kay acoustic.
You kids haven't got a clue.
For Katana mk3 I would want Bluetooth (even if an option with the plugin module), stereo line out and, preferably, an FX loop on all models.
Hi Andy! I love and trust your gear demos. But now look what you've done. You've given me GAS again, you!
If we are using Bluetooth to our phone (through the app), can we then Bluetooth from our phone to wireless earbuds? (dangling cords be gone)
I have an Ibanez S470, one of the reasons I got it was the sexy front plug, it's neatly recessed, so I don't know if it'd fit.
😂
OR EVER!!! MAYBE!!!
No, i meant that patch is mono. I edited out a little too much info. Sorry about thay
Look for a switch box.
@@jurgenvogel1150 Thank you for the info, much appreciated!
good video, good review, good product, good reviewer (as always). I'm getting one. Thanks!
Enjoy it!
Great demo as always. Now it would be nice to compare the Katana Go with the NUX Mighty Plug Pro. The NUX as darn good algorithms...
If only it were a wireless transmitter too... live gigs would be amazing with that setup!
As a bassist that watches this channel... "Hello" :D I actually got the Vox version of this just a week ago, wish I'd seen this video first!
Amazing a must for everyone. Reminds me when the Rockman X100 came out. but this is a million times better!!!! As for the Plug i would add an extension with cable like a wireless on belt.
If it has a Rockman patch that sounds spot-on I'll take it!
For that price you have a mooer prime P1 that's also for a bass, has a looper, metronome and different drum beats, tonecloud and there is a footswitch available, and it fits in your pocket..
How does this differ from the Boss pocket GT? Which has the better effects chain?
