Andy: Your Thomanlink doesnt work
Are you sure the effects on this thing are all mono ? I’m hoping the reverb is stereo otherwise it’ll sound very dull in headphones.
Thanks! @@user-pk4kb8bx9g I fixed it
no, just that patch was mono@@iwonder.
@@TheGuitarGeek
Yeah. Now it works 👍
I have come to trust your demonstrations Andy, I know we all have to make a living and affiliate commissions are a part of this for online personalities, but I sense you have good intentions, additionally you are a player, amongst all of the UToob guitar people I like your approach, for what this is worth. Cheers (Mic not being connected happens to the best of us)
Thanks Michael. Honesty and fun is the basis of my channel. I love what i do and I am just another guitar enthusiast
Love your very honest opinions on products 👌 🇬🇧
Love your presentations. I’m 70 years old and still love learning stuff like this. Praying for your son to get better.
Thank you Joe

You always shoot straight from the hip, Andy! Huge reason that I trust and believe you when you review, demo and give your insight on the products that you feature. Again, you did not disappoint. Boss is an innovator and makes quality equipment. Well done, ANDY!⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
This is exactly what I need. I use a headphone amp for my daily practice, but this is the next thing, plus I've already have a Katana 50. Thanks for posting.
You sir are one of the BEST on TH-cam. I enjoy every video, instagram post, and @threads post you do. All quality, truthful, and entertaining content. 🙏🏻❤️🙏🏻
Thanks 🙏
An absolutely brilliant review, Andy. I’m sold!
Thank you for the detailed demo. Makes it easier to decide whether or not you might want to try the product. You do a good job and it’s a big help. 👍🏻
I love my waza air headphones, especially with the funky spatial sound when you move your head. But they are extra when travelling and I’m already taking another good set of headphones. Incredible sounds for such a tiny box. Also mate loving the new look to the studio. Also Vegemite is king.
I was with you right up until the last statement
Just love you. At Nam, you showed everyone that you don't compromise your values. Any mate that does that is good in my book. I have the fender micro, very similar. I've gotten rid of my regular amp mostly. Hey, if you like big amps, dealers can't sell them right now. Good time for a discount, a big one. They need the room. I love the mono feature. My in stereo sound is priceless
@@giddyrightonup Haha! Me too! Marmite rules, obviously.
Well you had me till you said that price,. I can tell you something that will blow minds 🤯and piss off all big name brands, . First get out that old pos practice amp your grandma got you ,you know that gorilla amp . Cut the two speaker wires going into that horrible little 5inch speaker inside that makes that awesome sound of bees inside of a trash can we all grown to love so much and replace it with a 12inch vintage 30 ,you’ll probably have to get a cab as well . In the end will it be cheaper than the katana go ? Nope ,but if your gonna shell out $130 you might as well spend $30 more and get something your not gonna lose or break when you accidentally step on it cause it will happen 😊
Great demo Andy. Your review appeared to be pretty thorough. Saw this video about 20 min after it was released as I woke up early in the AM - U.S. Central time and could not sleep so turned on TH-cam. You had me thinking about this all day. The built in tuner coupled with your demonstration was the thing that sealed the deal for me. Ordered it tonight and used your link.
Glad it was helpful!
Excellent work from our resident Katana GENIUS! Thanks Andy :)
You’re welcome! GREAT piece of gear
Nice review. Also thanks for taking bassists into consideration!
Great Demo, Andy.
I think My Tom Scholz Soloist was a bit over $300 when it was gifted to me for Christmas in 1986. I could play clean, edge, or distorted; with chorus and/or echo for effects.
I just priced this at $119 this morning & I’m more than blown-away by the way this thing sounds. Plus, it has a tuner. What an amazing tool for students & pros alike.
I have a sick cat that’s about to eat my savings, but that’s ok. I’ll get one of these soon enough.
The pedal was a pleasant surprise. "STAGE FEEL" was another pretty brilliant addition. BOSS is continually offering the best practice amp options. Great review graphic overlays, by the way. Super helpful.
Why are these priced $229.00 AUD in Australia. Like around $150 US?
@rickyzoom8059 I'm guessing its so that they don't lose money. The currencies are different. USD is currently valued at $1 to every $1.51 AUD. So, every $200USD would be roughly $300AUD, etc. Otherwise, maybe a trade agreement or just because China is jealous of Australia having the best surfers. I don't know.
As a trucker this would be great for me. Great review 👍
Great review Andy. What a cool little thing this is !! Very versatile
Cheers
Amazing review! Now I’m drawn to buying this. TYSM!
Great demo Andy! That's pretty cool!
Glad you liked it!
Great overview, thanks!
Excellent review! Expecting mine in a few days. I totally agree with having channel 2 USB being the clean DI. Very helpful!
Primarily a bass player but love watching this channel for news etc. nice to have my own special hello in this vid Andy - cheers ❤
Hello Timothy! Glad to have you here ❤️
@@TheGuitarGeek good to be here. Love it when I can find info on your channel about gear I am interested in as I really feel I get a sensible opinion. Thanks for what you do fella, it is appreciated here.
Got mine today and am 100% happy with it.

Great review! This little beauty is going on my Father's Day gift list!
Got one, digging into it. Sounds great!
stumbled in here from another of your videos. Super informative well presented. Such a time we live in with all this tech and still sounds great...come a long way
Thanks again for a excellent demo and explanation of new Boss tech.
Thanks Andy!
You are very welcome Peter!
Didnt even know they were doing this.
Thanx andy.
Just bought mine and on my way home. Thank you, Andy. 🙂
I just purchased a Boss Katana Artist II guitar amp. 100 watt. Love it Great amp for the money. Take care 😊😊🎸🎸
Nicely done Andy, some seriously cool guitars utilised in this video!
Boss giving us the goods again, the OG and go to for good reason. £120 uk at andertons is priced spot on 👍🏼
The price point should make it a no brainer for any one on the lookout for something like this
Great job buddy
What a great little piece of gear! Would love to try it out since I have a Katana amp. Good one Boss and thank you Andy for the great and informative video! 🤘
Thanks V. I recommend one to anyone who is travelling…. 😊
You always review the coolest stuff! It gives us an idea if they are worth buying and that is important when you have to manage funds wisely.
Thanks! I hope this helps you make a decision
jeezus... you keep dropping that hendrix "highway chile" riff into your recent videos now the damn song is stuck in my head.
I can’t help it… it’s stuck in my head too😊
Would love to see a comparison to the original NUX Mighty Plug in terms of the quality of the effects and amp sounds. Including the session feature but no drum machine is strange.
That is a pretty nifty device, very smart to use it near your pedal board with a normal guitar cable connected!❤🎉
I did walk > train > walk to a gig on Thursday so anything that reduces the weight of my gig setup is very attractive. Very tempting (and the IR2 pedal seems to be out of stock everywhere in the UK!).
This was a great video. I'm buying one of the Katana Go because of this video...
Just bought one based on your review. Thanks!
Hi 👋 Could you tell me how loud is it through your headphones please? I'm a little hard of hearing and I have found the other devices I've used through my headphones aren't quite loud enough. Maybe to protect people's hearing 🤷🏻♂️ I don't want it super loud just loud enough to hear what I'm playing properly and I can't seem to find any information on it's volume
I love your reviews!🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼
Great demo Andy....it's never been a better time to play guitar !
As soon as I heard you start playing lovebuzz it improved my whole outlook on life
We just bought our youngest son his first electric guitar as a surprise for his 15th birthday today (he's in his 5th year of playing classical guitar) and I was thinking about getting him a Katana, but this is golden! So yes, I just ordered him one of these, thanks to your demo/review! I'm actually looking forward to trying it myself, lol
Next step will be a Katana combo, but I was thinking the same as you, that MKIII may be on the horizon (soon?), so we're going to wait with that for a bit longer
If there's a Mark 3 please God they have the sense to make sure you can use the editing app over Bluetooth rather than having to physically plug it in.
1:43 Never forget protection Andy! /stares awkwardly at the small humon next to him. Thanks Andy 🍺
This is a brilliant idea from Boss. It's probably going to sell like crazy.
You know, for a 'geek', you're pretty cool. I've watched a few of your videos and really like the channel.
Liked and subscribed.
I agree and thanks! Welcome
To the channel
I’ve been using Roland/BOSS gear all my life. This will be a great addition to my Katana 100!
Can't wait for mine to arrive! Hopefully some day Boss adds a looper to the katana platform, would make it perfect
That was awesome 👏 thank you 🙏 I made a special board to take around for practice …. But it’s cumbersome… this solves that problem and sounds great 👍. Thank You 🙏
Amazing, Vote for Pedro!
BOSS is gonna sell millions. Also, my favorite part of the video is near the end where he directly addresses the amp like it's a person.
😂 that amp and have been through a lot together
The biggest thing for me, that you can stream to your wireless headphones. That is the one thing my Spark Go can't do that I want it to!
He said wireless? He's using wired earbuds
@@GTSViperman boo, thought it was wireless for some reason
A Bluetooth connection out to connect to wireless headphones would make it a winner for me. To date, none of these little amps does that. Why not?
Latency
good video, good review, good product, good reviewer (as always). I'm getting one. Thanks!
Enjoy it!
Very nice review! I just bought one and can't wait. Totally agree that stereo outs would be killer, more so if this could also switch to a true stereo out mode for rotary modulation and ping pong delay. Guess we'll have to wait for the next version.
Damn, bro! Those first few chords sounded like some Cocteau Twins style shoe gaze! ❤🤘
IT IS STEREO! But use modules that are stereo of course, like stereo chorus, panning delay and or reverb. Use the headphones out directly and or record via USB. It sounds huge and immense!
I love using reverb above all other effects - but that ‘stage feel 2’ is amazing; I might have to buy an expensive headphone amp now - and have my Vox Amplug2 Clean as my backup!
THIS looks really cool, I’ve been looking at these micro things for a bit now but never quite felt that “urge” to get one?
THIS could very well be the game changer, thanks for a very informative and in depth review, now…where’s my nearest dealer🤓
I already have the Mustang Micro. I've ordered one of these today.
Thanks again for another fun and very helpful tutorial video! I appreciate you Andy, especially for your unorthodox way of testing and demonstrating gear to take it to higher limits than expected.
Great demo Andy as are all of your demos. Love lsitening to you and you know your stuff! What is that metal box the Katana Go is plugged into. I like that becasue I can have the unit on my desk. Tank you!
Great video, Andy. The Waza Air has a tunner. It is a sound tunner, but a tunner still.
Looks cool but I got it covered with my Nux mp3...love that thing!
An led bar over full with above the boss logo would make a really precise and comfy tuner with no fancy matrix display. Like the olf 19" rack tuners I miss.
First, let me say that this piece of gear is BADASS!!! I can certainly see myself using this in several applications, even in live performance. But I can also definitely see myself practicing with it, which is the reason for this comment/question. Did you say that this can be plugged into your guitar and the signal can be sent to WIRELESS, BLUETOOTH headphones/earbuds? If so, I will be using your link to get one today. One more thing, thank you for these vids; you along with maybe 3 or 4 other content-creators are my go to for things of this nature. Keep going !!! You got this !!!
Mine came today , within 10 minutes had I hooked up to my pad and app , making great patches . The only fx which is stereo is the stereo delay , and only works , in stereo , if the Stage setting is off . The Stage setting try’s to replicate a special ambience , maybe it does ,it’s not amazing or game changing . But all in all the sounds are great and easy to dial in , easy to set blue tooth up too . Nice tuner as well . This should sell in bucketloads . Happy customer 😊👍
Are you still happy? Or would you rather choose Nux Mighty Plug?
@@Phoboss32 all still happy thank you 😀
Amazing ❤🎸
Amazing a must for everyone. Reminds me when the Rockman X100 came out. but this is a million times better!!!! As for the Plug i would add an extension with cable like a wireless on belt.
Awesome. 🤙🤙
Edit: just got one, cant wait for it to come in the mail. 🤙🤙
Great demo Andy. Can you share any ideas you have on how to put a looper pedal after the Katana go?
For Katana mk3 I would want Bluetooth (even if an option with the plugin module), stereo line out and, preferably, an FX loop on all models.
I like it. If I didn't already own a Spark Go I would totally purchase one, but I feel besides being a bit bigger and having to bring a cable or wireless connectors the Spark Go has no disadvantages compared to the Katana Go.
Great product, if I didn't know what to do with all my money I would buy one just to let Boss know how much I like it.
I've been very happy with my Spark 40 and Spark Go. Cant wait to get the cab for my Spark 40. Might get this to replace my mustang mini, used it for years and the circuitry is fried.
Edit: I returned the spark go for the katana go, cant wait to try it out. 🤙🤙
I was convinced by all reasons except that it doesn't plug in well into those Ibanez JEM-type barrel jacks! That's on more than half my guitars! But this is another home-run for the Boss Katana!!
Thanks for the video! I’m super excited, as I liked the sound of the Waza Air, but without the ability to record it or just listen to it without headphones it didn’t work for me. Seems like the Go is the thing I’ve been waiting for 🎉. Do you think you could gig with it?😂
Love the review. Just ordered one. That’s a very interesting setup what kind of pedal box did you plug the katana go into? Thanks.
Although I do not need this item, your video leaves me wanting this item.
We shall see if i purchase this item in the future.
I am truly sorry.
Hi Andy! I love and trust your gear demos. But now look what you've done. You've given me GAS again, you!
Great review, hope your son gets well soon mate :)
Thank you John!
Thank you for the in depth review of this product.
I myself have had so many of these little amps and have gotten rid of all but three.
What I have left after years of wasting money on them is a Fender mustang micro (so, so and not worth the money), a Vox Amplug2 Classic Rock (fair, not bad price, and somewhat useable) and a Nux Mighty Pro Plug MP-3 (good but...).
Out of all that I have left, the Nux is the most versatile and though there are tons of tone selections, I use maybe two of them.
Also, you can use the app on your phone (blu-tooth) to adjust each sound just like this Katana Go. However, the Nux has severe limits in tone.
In conclusion, my biggest problem with many of these types of amps is that the tone is rarely right, and they just sound flat, uninteresting or way too noisy and dirty.
Having heard this amp I may have to bite the bullet and buy this one. To me it sounds better than anything I have heard thus far.
I do already have a Katana 50 amp and oddly enough for a solid state amp, it sounds pretty good.
Just my 2 cents worth. Peace.
I have been using NUX Mighty Plug Pro which is a very similar product. Now I want a pocket Katana too! With Boss' present library ecosystem it is way more powerful while maintaining the same technical capabilities.
Andy, I need to stop watching your channel. It costs me money 😂 ...but how to say no to all these toys 😉
Thanks again mate!
stage feel 1 is amazing
I think this is my favourite
As a bassist that watches this channel... "Hello" :D I actually got the Vox version of this just a week ago, wish I'd seen this video first!
Its got a tuner!!!! Yay!
As an owner of the katana mini since I travel for work a lot. I will say this has a TON of potential for someone on the road. I will say that i like the simplicity (and the sound) of my katana mini over my katana 100. I spent way too many hours messing with the app for my 100watt katana and only ever came up with one sound that I enjoy apart from the clean sounds. I am currently building a guitar and have been thinking about building a case for it with the katana mini guts built in so i don’t have to haul the katana mini around every week. 😂
Basically this is the solution I was waiting for.
A 3.5 mm male to female adapter cable could be used to allow use of a normal guitar cable. Your idea of using the line/ear out to plug into a power speaker is interesting. It would be even better if the Kantana Go could connect directly with a Bluetooth speaker. Personally, I'm pretty happy with my Boss Micro BR. It may be old, but it does everything this new unit does (amps, effects, audio interface ) as well as act like a multi-track recorder and MP3 player. And the built in stereo condenser mics are great for quick and dirty rehearsal capture.
The inherent latency in Bluetooth would make connection to a BT speaker for live playing intolerable.
@@davewong7368 I don't really think of these types of devices as supporting live performances - I think of them as more like "bedroom practice" tools. Maybe Bluetooth is not the best wireless choice. I use a cheap wireless system for my guitar sometimes and it is only about 5 msec. It's not Bluetooth but it is super small and fast. But you are right - it you are getting something like 50 to 100 msec latency it's going to be very distracting. Fun fact - you incur about 1 msec latency for every foot between you and your speaker. Not exactly, but close enough for rock and roll.
Great review, Waza Air does have a tuner, but via the app.
…. Which makes sense as headphones are on your head:)
I had a headphone amp like this many years ago. It was the Pocket Rocket or Rock-it or something like that. I believe it was powered by a 9v battery and eventually those tiny wires broke. Iirc, it had clean and distortion and that was it.
An LED-single line screen would add to the simplicity of the Katana.
Currently, you select effects by remembering which color is which effect (like the mustang micro). A single line LCD would allow for a tuner and also a description of whatever effect you’re choosing. “Blues driver” “distortion” etc rather than blue and yellow led.
While that would be very useful, it would probably double the price. At least😃
@@smarkalet9078 You think so? They have the same screen in this affordable device. It can't ad that much.
It's a great time to be a guitar player :)
+1000 on using the second stereo USB channel for DI that would be awesome! @BOSS firmware upgrade feature please! Great review answered many questions I haven't been able to get clarified elsewhere.
I've been playing a Boss Katana twin last 4 years, through choice, I have Marshall and Vox valve amps, which I rarely use now, I can rock up with the Katana, 2 guitars in one trip from the Car, fantastic amp, having all that in a headphone amp, is kinda nuts, this tech is now getting silly, good video, very well explained and I know you dont BS, just because they are paying you. Do you ever play Gigs Andy?
Great demo as always. Now it would be nice to compare the Katana Go with the NUX Mighty Plug Pro. The NUX as darn good algorithms...
If only it were a wireless transmitter too... live gigs would be amazing with that setup!
I didn't realize the iPhone one still worked! 😂😂😂 Great video I've been looking for a wireless headphone solution.
I'm that bass player who watches your channel. Helloooo 👋
Hey there! You are very welcome here
First review I've seen which addresses the build quality. I'm going to see if I can test one out when retailers have them back in stock as everywhere seem to have sold out.
Edit - Got mine today, and very happy with it.
Great video. Got mine yesterday. Great product for the $$$.
If I have one complaint with the Katana Go it's that there isn't a Drum Machine Feature like the Nux and Flamma mini HP amps have. Big omission
They had an opportunity to expand its capabilities with a wireless transmitter with a receiver option. Buy, device by itself or buy it with receiver.
Funny how, the NUX MP-3 has been out for almost two years and it flew under the radar. Its pretty much this same product without the screen…
