I got the Katana Go before discontinued. Everyone should get a device like this. Frees you from the DAW desk and you can roam around the house or chill in the backyard and jam.
@@michaelolz yeah it was. They said something about an insurmountable supply issue. Others have speculated that a part in the Katana Go was needed on the new Katana amp line. Or, once they saw how fast it was selling they got worried it would hurt sales of the new amp. But thats all rumors. I would expect they will release it again.
I had it since yesterday and I'm amazed, just my guitar, my phone, the headphones and this little piece of witchcraft, the quality/price ratio and what you can do with it is remarkable, after 15 minutes I had everything working, I loved the app simple and easy , after making a sound check on the speakers, (worked great ) I try it with headphones and happily get stuck in the second preset , (I think is the "stadium lead") and I say happily because this little thing really pulled a big smile on my face. It's ridiculously fun it totally exceeded my expectations, my main use for it is in the couch or at bed now that winter comes but I know that I will end up using it in my desk too. I give it a 9/10 bc I just have it since yesterday . I didn't buy the first Fender Micro bc it seemed to me some cheap gadget that it was already on the market, however this time I knew that the improvement in technology was a thing to consider, the one year leap in tech gave Fender the opportunity to make a better product and I think they did it, at least I'm happy enough to recommend this little gadget to anyone who needs a small practice amp or a plug amp with a complete set of tools to make music .
I totally agree. I got one last week. Amazing device. I didn't have to use my Pod Go or Helix LT for practice. I give it 10/10. I hope that fender updates the Tone app where you can manually input the BPM or tempo
Excellent demonstration of the device's capabilities - great playing but also a strong awareness of how to musically exploit the characteristics of the unit and its possibilities. Really looking forward to taking delivery of one now. Much respect! 💪
Awesome playing as you put it through its paces. That Driven Deluxe with the greenbox and strat sounded great. Thanks for showing us what this new headphone amp can do.
Excellent overview. I got one and have used it several ways. Headphone. Into amp return (need a 1/8 to 1/4 cable and a 1/4 female to female 1/4 connector). And in front of a multi-effects pedal. All superb quality.
I have the first edition of the Mustang Micro and it has been a great little practice tool. I also got a Katana Go shortly before they were discontinued and I like that as well. With is being released, now I'm thinking of getting one of these. Do I need it? No, but it would be fun to have. Great demo Leon, as are most of yours, it sounded quite awesome. Thanks!!
Thanks for the tip on the global eq. I found that a few of the patches sounded muddy to my ears straight from the box. I will give that tip a go later 👍 awesome playing man! 🎸🎸🎸
I think we really need a new katana go for a comparison. One concern is just how far on have fender moved with the range of options on the app? All the pedals and amps look pretty similar to what was available when they brought out the GTX50 combo. Have a lot of options been added or tweaked via updates? For me there's a feeling that this device only addresses the shortcomings with the original Mustang when you compared it to the rivals like the Katana Go and the NUX Pro Plug. Fender really got lucky that Boss had to discontinue the original Go.
I'm finding that the new plus is choking out notes...almost as though there is a noise gate on ...and set too high....I own both the original micro and the boss Katana Go
Great review as always - cheers mate! I might have missed it but - can you tweak each of the controls on the amp modules with the app? It's not a helix, but try using a helix sitting on an eskie...
Fuck! I was looking for a small plug&play companion and the Mustang Micro is the one that I was thinking about. Thanks to your test, I'm going to buy it for sure!
If you get a guitar jack to a stereo jack that goes in the back of the mustang and put a backing track on you hear both the backing track, guitar thru your amp via Bluetooth Bluetooth
I've gotta be honest, this is one of the most incredible things I've ever heard. I'm seriously thinking of getting one. What an age of wonders we live in! Is this in any way controllable with a footswitch?
you never heard of the boss waza air headphones, they are quite a lot more expensive than this but they are phenomenal, in my opinion there is no better product for silent practice. the sound is absolute heaven to your ears.?
To my ears, the cleaner models in there sound better than the metal ones, but that doesn't mean they sound bad. On the contrary, I can see this serving even as an emergency replacement for a bricked modeler or a blown amp at a gig even though that's not its primary purpose. You coax some nice stuff out of it.
I used the old mustang micro live once in a pinch, and after the gig asked the sound guy to give me an A/B with the recording, and he said the mustang sounded fine. Not better than my Line6 modeler, but having it in my bag saved me. Literally plugged it into a tuner pedal, by passed the tuner, then went headphone jack to DI box. Worked just fine.
First viewer 😺 This little thing sounds like a veeeeery big thing. And Leon is showing formidable skills which makes this little BIG box even BIGGER. Nice played Leon 👍
Hi. thanks for the video. but how do you get stereo into your audio interface? you use the headphone output with a Y cable to enter INPUT 1 and 2 of the Apollo Twin??? Thanks for your response... Peace Jean Pierre.
I use the Vox amplug when I don’t want to fire up the tube amp or I want to noodle on the couch. They’re great but I might check this out. It’s got more versatility and sounds good.
I had a Vox Amplug before I bought the original Mustang Micro. The improvement in sound quality going from the Amplug to the Micro was remarkable, never mind the additional flexibility. The new Mustang Micro Plus adds even more to that equation. I'm not sure that it's worth it to me to upgrade from the original Mustang Micro, but if I was still using the Amplug, it would be a no brainer to get the new Plus.
I have the Amplug3 boutique model - and I've used it to round out the piezo sound on my roundback Crafter - and also as a preamp on my strat at jam sessions and club nights.... These devices are amazingly versatile - and should be 'in-the-box' when you buy a new guitar. As far as the sound goes - I have no issues at all with the Amplug3; never really had any issues with the Amplug2 either.
Rather abrupt and curious but not a mystery. Publicly Boss stated it was an issue with sourcing parts. I have my own ideas as to others. Did they under price it? Did they think it might effect sales of Katana 50 gen 3 amps? In hoping this new Mustang will put a rocket up Boss' backside to get a new Go out with some tweaks like a drum machine. Aside from sounds the battle between Mustang and any new Katana Go may come down to the different approaches to how the app interface looks. If you like old school stomp box picture like then Mustang might be your choice
@@michaeldean7220 There were rumors of supplier issues for a component. There were also rumors that a new “go” will come out sometime in November. We’ll see...
I'm just amazed STILL by these what used to be classed as a gimmicks, but now is actually good and handy. Mustang Micro plus. Ok, I have my headphones on. I have my phone cliped to my guitar head and have fender app on my phone. Now I want to open discord on my phone to guitar server. How can i get the micro amp to play to discord on my phone and to my headphones.
No sound goes to the phone. App is simply for parameter control. Sorry. You can usb out to a computer or midi interface and then into a different mobile device.
I honestly think that's better than what's inside the boss katana for processing power ...I was jamming on my katana yesterday and it sounds so sterile the reverb and delays sound so bad they actually cause degradation of the modeling...its not studio quality at all
