    Original Xbox memory: received it on my 14th birthday, one word, Halo. Was life changing. I never embraced the Xbox 360, but I will always have a fun place my heart for the original OG Xbox!

    Republic Commando for the Xbox is awesome, still waiting for that sequel...
    And there's also Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay which is an amazing licensed game, and the port of Half-Life 2 is very impressive.

    • @adamsdownfall

    • @BOYD1981
      @BOYD1981 10 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      adamsdownfall MJR was ignoring the fact that some of the games were available on PC, and if it's good enough for MJR, it's good enough for everyone else :P
      The Xbox was basically a PC itself, and most of the games that are also on the PC have the Xbox config files
      I know Half-Life 2 and Butcher Bay are both available on PS3 and 360, but they're only available as part of collections. They were exclusives for that generation of consoles (although I would really loved to have seen a PS2 port of Half-Life 2).

    • @Ponimaju
      @Ponimaju 10 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    I remember that Bruce Lee game. Bruce Lee's family was wary about licensing stuff out to people and the makers of that game somehow convinced them. Needless to say that thanks to this abysmal game, we may never see anything officially licensed from *The Dragon* again :/

  • @sigurdtheblue
    @sigurdtheblue 8 ปีที่แล้ว +13

    The thing I loved about XBox is how it had its own personality, like the Gamecube did (although Gamecube didn't really have enough original games for that personality to show). A lot of the games from this era had a dark and rough feel to them that felt authentic and personal. Out of the three consoles of the time, I would say XBox really shows the most personality and I guess that partially has to do with its connection with Sega - effectively being like a continuation of the Dreamcast. I also loved the controllers in this generation and the XBox looks pretty cool (but I think both were cooler on the Gamecube). The PS2 was definitely the most functional though.

    • @versatilelord8893

      sigurdtheblue yeah bro the games for the og Xbox always caught my eye because they were these weird ass games that I've never heard of before but still wanted to play lol
      their library REALLY stood out in comparison to the others due to the originality

    • @Abel-Alvarez
      @Abel-Alvarez 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      the 6th generation of consoles all stood out each on their own and i love all four (gamecube,OG xbox,ps2, and dreamcast). sadly afterwards the ps3,ps4,xbox 360, and xbox one are all almost the same thing and hardly any games stand out (with the exception of the nintendo systems because they still keep it creative and weird, i love them).

    • @ryanjackson7387
      @ryanjackson7387 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I disagree the 360 had ton of games and variety too, I didnt own the PS3 long enough to say the samething as a fact but I'm willing to wager it did too. I do like the 6th generation the best overall. But 7th gneration was great too. The current 8th generation has dropped the ball which is why retro gaming is back in full swing.

    • @angrymobsters1599
      @angrymobsters1599 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@Abel-Alvarez Not really true. Wii stood put cause by god it's Nintendo and its the Wii ffs 🤣 Ps3 had tons of exclusives like Kill zone Resistance, last of us, little big planet, and continuation of older franchises like sly 4, god of war, rachet and clank while also having one of the largest lightgun selection of games of almost any home console. Xbox had tons of amazing obscure shmups and fighters and obviously the awesome exclusives they had too plus the kinect which i dare say to this day was one of the coolest pieces of tech ever made and far ahead of it's time. That gen was truly the last gen to produce some level of creativity and unique console experiences. This era and xbox one/ps4 era are by far the weakest.

      2 things: first, the original Fable absolutely was an exclusive when it launched in 2004, you can read about it here or do your own research if you don’t find Wikipedia adequate enough [en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fable_(2004_video_game)]. It wasn’t until a year later that they released an extended version of the game called Fable: the Lost Chapters on Xbox and Windows, making the extended version not an Xbox exclusive, but still a Microsoft exclusive. And second, I just watched part 1 of these videos and I don’t recall Fable being in it, but maybe I missed it. 🤷🏻‍♂️
      Edit: I went back and double checked. Fable is not in part 1 of this series, Saint L.

    Glad you included Gunvalkyrie. That game was THE reason I purchased an XBOX back in 2002. There wasn't a whole lot out for it besides Halo at the time, but the Gunvalkyrie demo I played made me want an xbox so bad. The biggest problem with the game I didn't feel was even the controls but the lack of shadows under the character to help you see where you're going to land on the harder jumping parts into the game. I still play it now and then. If you like hard action/platforming games, it's definitely worthwhile. I remember reviewers either loved it or hated it, so if you can, play it beforehand unless you find it cheap. Crimson Skies, awesome game, lots of time spent playing 4 player splitscreen.

    I think the fact that not a lot of people are collecting for the XBOX right now is probably the reason why this system will be one of the last systems I'll collect for. It does have a few anime style games I'm interested in, but thankfully the amount of games I want for that system are incredibly small. I'm in no rush to start collecting for it.

    Hey Metal Jesus, great video as always! I don't know if you've tried Sudeki (has probably already been mentioned in the comments like a million times). But it's a great action-RPG, published by Microsoft I think, and I remember it as one of my favorite games for the original Xbox. Anyways, keep up the amazing work!

    I'd better point this out. JSRF is not a sports game. It's more of a stunt game, but has a very unique style to it. For those of you who don't know, This is a reconstruction of the original Dreamcast title, Jet Set Radio, or Jet Grind Radio in North America. That version is an arcade type game. The two games are extremely different.

    The OX (original Xbox) is a fine system and got me into collecting unusual titles. Great video. I would add a few of my faves to your list, but i want to commend you for how well you always cover the OX. My list of "onlies"
    Morrowind
    Iron Phoenix
    Tao Feng
    Sudeki
    Ninja Gaiden original one
    Crash and Burn
    Pirates of the Carribean by Bethesda
    Jade Empire
    Toe Jam & Earl 3
    Project Gotham
    Fable
    and more. I am glad gamers will not forget the original Xbox and collect for it.

    Shenmue 2 lots of people got on the Dreamcast. There were cheap region free boot discs you could buy at the time (DC-X and CDX) and get the game imported easily from Lik-Sang I believe.

    I have Shenmue 2 on original Xbox with that movie disc and all. It came to europeans too to Xbox, not only for USA. I have never played Dreamcast version but i think that Shenmue 2 runs better on Xbox because it has more power, and for that, the whole game is only on one disc. ;)
    Sega GT was pretty nice racing game, and hunter the rekoning was fun coop game. I just miss old times. :/ Nice video again. :)

      I was about to say that I believe that Shenmue was also released for the Dreamcast. And the US didn't get Shenmue 2 for the XBOX just europe and japan. I got it for the xbox too awesome game! I wishing I had it for the Dreamcast so I could transfere my Data from Shenmue 1 but yeah ... maybe someday I ll find it.

      Rämpyttäjä dreamcast version actually looks better through vga and you can use your shenmue 1 savefile which is a definitive must.

    Shenmue II FTW! I actually really enjoyed Star Wars Obi Wan back when it first came out. It has a lot of unlockables to keep your interest if you're a huge star wars fan.

    I very much need to buy Crimson skies.
    Steel battalion looks cool, I remember seeing it in that setup in store, seemed like a great game to play, then I saw the price and kept on walking.
