Wow a lot of known developers worked on the 3DO before they hit it big. Before this episode I only knew of Naughty Dog and EA cause the maker of the 3DO was EA's founder and former CEO. The man apparently teaches at the University of Southern California now and says the 3DO is his biggest regret.
I played about 80% of these games! I still remember when one of my older brothers brought this console home, now I know why he didn't want my little 3rd grade hands playing on his new console, $700!? Sure these games were trash, but it was amazing to me back then!
"The Horde" was developed by "Toys for Bob". The same developer that is responsible for Crash Bandicoot 4, Crash Bandicoot: N-sane Trilogy and Spyro: Reignited Trilogy.
The 3DO had tons of controller converters. I had one for 2 SNES controllers and it was perfect. No daisy chain necessary and all the buttons worked as expected. So, there were peripherals, you just needed to know what to look for.

He said that because us survived from AVGN’s rants but now it won’t be lucky when AVGN reviews the 3DO version
Thank you so much for still doing this after all these years James, AVGN is an absolute gem of a show. I still go back to the old seasons every once in a while to ride the nostalgia train. You rock dude.
totally agree. AVGN and RvB are two series I'll watch and rewatch time and again.
I always love the informative AVGN episodes. The Intellivision, Colecovision, Pong Console, and Atari Jaguar episodes are definitely some of the most rewatchable nerd episodes.
7:40 I love this line, he used the same one when reviewing Super Putty on the CD32 episode.
"I've played this game long enough to realize that I don't really like it." Out of everything in the video, this is the line that got me 😂
Same here!
I like it when James does episodes about a console because it usually has a bit of history about the product and commentary on games that wouldn't usually get covered in a video.
"this is like game night at Soulja Boy's house" - Gex
Classic Gex line.
We're turning this Gex night into a Gex year.
At least the Nerd didn't drink the tap water at Jerry Garcia's house.
This is like playing Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde at AVGN's house

These are great
Wasn't that one of the 7 Duffs?
I think the designers of Ratchet and Clank were inspired by that game.
@@pacoramon9468 Oh, you mean an influence for Captain Qwark? Hmm... you may be right.
One of my favorite games on the 3DO that's wasn't shown here was Guardian War, which was a great tactical RPG that still looks beautiful today.
Well finally he's talking the 3DO, He hasn't done anything related to the 3DO since his Plummers don't wear Ties review way back in 2009 at 12 years ago, Now that's a long memory.
Remember when there was a pseudo-remake on TH-cam using the annotations?
@@BPence89 No I don't remember that.

"Septic tank controls" is the most AVGN line ever.
The band's full name is "Thai Dyed Suicide", and they only released the Virtuoso soundtrack, as far as we know.
Searching for that seems to be even more likely to result in news about dead Thai people hahaha
It's so nice to hear AVGN still cursing up a storm. It's like the old days. Make sure to visit his sponsors so that he doesn't have to cave to TH-cam censorship like literally everyone else did.
Yes, there’s already PLENTY of people bending over for TH-cam.😑
I can’t believe he didn’t mention that the 3DO’s DOOM had the best soundtrack out of all of the ports and versions, performed by an actual band and recorded in a garage just for this game.
Do yourself a favor, and look up the 3DO DOOM’s soundtrack, and compare it to the others. It’s actually great.
If I remember right, he mentioned that in a episode but I cant remember which episode was that.
Nerd: "When the system launched, there was only one game available. Can you imagine that?"

James i've been watching for over a decade. I'm a truck driver now, and watching these helps me feel closer to home
"I see your heart beats for me!"
I laughed so hard at that. It was just so ridiculous and unexpected.
You should watch a way of the warrior fatality compilation
Thanks for writing your own scripts again, James. This felt like a genuine classic episode.
not quite but better then it was
Was it? Some episodes have really felt out of place for me. I noticed that the nerd yelled and screamed much more often, instead of slowly building up the anger and then exploding.
Wait what? I thought all scripts were written by him.
"Throw it in the ol' Trashuoso" made me chuckle.
@@GoodSmile3 Nobody has ever seen otherwise, there's a lot of weird people out there though.
9:32 I can’t wait for the Angry Video Game Nerd to cover every version of Street Fighter II, like how he covered every port of Mortal Kombat.
This….
This is how you make a classic style AVGN episode. No strange cgi, as many dad jokes, or extra characters. This is the perfect AVGN we’ve all missed.
8:50 I noticed Toys for Bob. These are the guys behind Crash 4, Spyro Reignited and Skylanders.
And that Nicktoons party game for the GameCube played as a child.
And now they also work on Call of duty Warzone!
@@MisterCasket uhhhh..... How?

I find it crazy how in Drug Wars where you're shooting guys in the bar, no one is panicing and ducking for cover; they're all staring at you.
20:32 this girl measures you up like "You've got no chance with me dude"
I think they just didn't close the bar. Those were normal patrons just like "What, are they filming something? Should I move? Gimme a Coors, Bob!"
Nah. They’re all high on LSD and is too busy tweaking to care.
“It would be cheaper for them to slap you upside the head with a NeoGeo cartridge!”
I don’t know why, but that’s my favorite line in the whole video.
felt like a classic AVGN Episode. Really glad James hasn't lost his touch and still makes bangers to this day
20:27 I like how all the regular customers are just calmly going about their business as this gunfight erupts around them.
This is just a regular day for them..

I wish people would also credit Sweet Home for Resident Evil being created.
Resident Evil started as a remake for Sweet Home.
I played about 80% of these games! I still remember when one of my older brothers brought this console home, now I know why he didn't want my little 3rd grade hands playing on his new console, $700!? Sure these games were trash, but it was amazing to me back then!
Some of the parts in this episode literally made me laugh out loud. Nice work.
Hey. I love you

Fancy seeing you here
Right? This one was genuinely funny and well-written.
"The Horde" was developed by "Toys for Bob". The same developer that is responsible for Crash Bandicoot 4, Crash Bandicoot: N-sane Trilogy and Spyro: Reignited Trilogy.
Weird how this video has games from both Toys for Bob, the present of Crash, and ND, who created him.
And Skylanders too.
And now cod warzone cosmetics, their final resting ground
The 3DO had tons of controller converters. I had one for 2 SNES controllers and it was perfect. No daisy chain necessary and all the buttons worked as expected. So, there were peripherals, you just needed to know what to look for.
