Gday everyone, First treatment went well with no side affects yet but may feel crap in a day or so, time will tell, Thanks very much for watching, Cheers
Hi Matty, as you go through the treatments and recovery process, remember the number of views these videos have and imagine all of us are standing with you in support. You and your loved ones have a lot of folks who are concerned and wish you all the best.
Dear Marty, I don’t watch many people’s videos but just a few of the machinists. I started following you back when you sent Kurtis from CEE his oiler can and I dropped in to take a look. You have become a “regular” in my weekly view list. I’ve watched all of your videos!!! Once you do this you tend to become a friend of the individual you visit with each week at least in my mind. Friend, if I may call you that, I admire you and everything you do. I have gone through different tough punches life has thrown my way as well but I have never given up, not once!!! I would like to encourage you and wish you well in your fighting for your life to not leave your wife and family behind and of course your friends that see you here on this channel. Wishing you all the best and may the Lord be along your side during this battle. Please receive a hug “friend”!!!!
Gday, thank you very much for your kind words, the YT community has been absolutely amazing and I never expected to have the following I have, since I’ve start the fight with cancer the amount of positive comments, emails, messages I’ve received has been very humbling and so far there hasn’t been a single negative comment, it’s certainly lifted my spirits and I’m not backing down, again thank you for your kind words mate, cheers
Hi Matty, my wife and brother have both been through chemo, I know what you’ll be going through so stick in there, don’t feel bad if you can’t get any videos out as you’ll feel too tired to do anything, so all the best to you. 🏴
That’s a tough break brother. ❤ Good goals to keep busy with the treatment. Please don’t ever forget to put your health first before us mugs on TH-cam. Best wishes my friend. Kris.
My Uncle had one of these, it had been sitting out in the weather for I don't know how many years, went down to his Dam where it had been set up many years ago, It fired up first time and ran like new, he said it hadn;t been started since he bought the newer replacement back in 1960, can't beat the old stuff for quality in most instances.
No need to apologize for anything sir. You’re going through some tough stuff and if folks watching the video can’t comprehend that, well they can F#%k off! You sir are a strong person to be dealing with those issues and still be putting videos out. Stay strong and keep positive 💪🏻
First off brother, no need to apologize, your health comes first. Hope your recovery is swift and complete. Second, that's an awesome build, intricate and complicated. Great build, thanks for your detailed explanation and video work. AMAZING skills 👏👏👏👏👏 All the BEST to you and your family brother from Da Bronx JB
Hi Matt. Sorry to hear things not 100% the good thing is you live in the best COUNTRY in the world and our medical staff are the best. They will ensure you get the very best service and assistance for your treatment. It was good to see Trevor and you working to saving this old engine, our history is being torn away from us and to save this valuable engine is something. Have a great week await the next update.
Gday, the staff have been absolutely fantastic, first treatment went well be had a rough night but that’s life, im hoping the engine will be running soon, cheers
Matty mate, good to here your first treatment went well but it's time to think about yourself not us lot. We'll still be here and will appreciate anything you feel up to doing no matter what you think of it. All the very best wishes to you and keep your pecker up.
First. Hi Matty! Going to watch now! You've made a beautiful job of that mate. Top dollar! On the future re your treatment, it's really admirable and not surprising being the sort of bloke you are, to want to carry on putting out a video every week. Sometimes I think that you may not feel up to it. Matty, we will take anything you can give, but if you feel like crap and can't put a video out, then don't. Everyone of your subscribers will understand mate. You do what you can do, but don't knock yourself out just to please us. I hope sincerely you get a good result from your chemo. I and many others will be preying for a good outcome for you. Cheers from the UK. SAM
Jaysus mate, ya don’t do things by halves hey! Getting the combo Hodgkins’. Keep the fight mate. That igniter came up well, all the fiddling worked out. Thanks for the video. 👍🇦🇺
Matty,,don’t worry about next weeks video,,take a few days off old mate, hopefully your not too crook straight after,,the shed will still be there and so will we, take it easy, our thoughts and best wishes are with you, regards Frank
Keep fighting Matty, big advances in treatment every year. Good feedback on those phosphor bronze parts, quite involved 👍. Another complex project, you'll be making clocks next! Thanks for sharing.
G'day Matty. Hope all the treatments work out ok, without to many sick effects. The unit you made is a lot more complex than when you first look at it. Job well done. Catch you on the Merry Go Round
Matty, don't ever apologize for putting your health first and keep fighting the good fight. Stay strong and our prayers are with you for a full recovery 🙏🏻.
Yo Matty, I see your heading up the Eden Space Centre as Launch Director. Congrats on your first test launch (of the new spring). I shot beer out my nose at that. Im glad to see you still making chips in the workshop.
Great job building ignitor. Hope the treatments go well and don't keep you out of the shop too much. Don't worry about not making content, do what's best for you and yours.
Keeping yourself busy between treatments is always good for the mind. Can't dwell on the what ifs. Interesting job on the part you made. Very satisfying to restore a piece of history. Thanks for sharing. You are in our thoughts and prayers.
Just do what you can. If there is a project you could split it into parts as you are able. People here will understand. ALSO - just remember that there are groups who provide all sorts of advice and support for people currently in cancer treatment. The clinic doing your chemo should be the first call to find them.
That is a great job you and Trevor have done to ensure that vintage engine has more life in it. I've never seen that type of ignitor before, so at 68 you've taught an old mechanical engineer something new, thanks. I've found setting small goals is a good thing when battling medical issues. There is no treatment or cure for pulmonary fibrosis so I set goals. I sincerely hope that the treatment works Matty, as the world needs us old engineers to keep the wheels turning ❤❤
My mom had sistic fibrosis. That was 19 years ago. A friend of the family had what you have, he said that there is way more hope today than even 5 years ago. Good luck with that 🙏.
Gday, I’m going to try and keep the weekly videos as much as possible, I need to keep active and keep the mind in a good space and the workshop is that place for me, I alway try to set myself goals and I believe it’s a big help, keep setting your goals to mate, Cheers
Hi Matty, great job on the ignition, simple in operation but complex to make especially without drawings! Good luck with the treatment mate, and you are right, if you want to get in the workshop to zone out, even if it's to just tidy up, then do it despite what the docs might say. Cheers, Jon
Gday Jon, the igniter looked simple to start with but was a bit of a challenge to build, the workshop is a place that keeps the brain occupied so that’s where I’ll be mate, thanks for watching, cheers
I guess the next few weeks are going to be very tough on you Matty. Rest assured we are all with you in spirit while you fight this thing off. Don't worry or apologise if there's fewer videos. Everyone would prefer that you concentrate on your health first. Fantastic machining on this part Matty. Your skills shine through. All the best to you and your dear family. Cheers from Nobby in England
2:00 no apologies needed, it goes how it goes. You just fight your fight as needed and we will all understand some unimportant things like “video consistency” or other sometimes suffer. Take heart!
Matty… KICK IT’S ASS!! Get into the shop as best you can… but don’t worry…. We understand. LOVE FROM THE USA ❤ I really enjoyed watching this build… because when that machine was first made, they did not have the tools that we have today. Imagine a bloke sitting there and hand shaping those parts with a file …
All the best Matty, I hope the chemo does the trick. I had some cancer in my neck 4 and a half years ago but all good now, the treatments these days are great.
Hi Matty, i was thinking thats a bunch of fiddly litttle parts as you were saying it. Great job on the whole bit. Please post some video of the engine running if possible.
Thank you for the update. Glad to see you're moving forward, keeping busy. Take the time you need for your medical treatments and doctors visits. Keep praying for you.
All the best mate - good to see another vid from you. Keep positive - and on a positive note there won't be any issues with the chemo making your hair fall out! (not trying to be flippant, just raising the spirits). All the best, Paul
Matty i have been thinking of you and hoping you are doing well... be careful with the amount of Benadryl they give you sometimes it causes a bad reaction...Mom at 80 went through her 5 rounds of chemo at 80 and she is doing well. keep your mind on point and you will get though this....
Gday Paul, Im going to keep making videos each week to keep the mind in a good place and stay active, I know there might be day I can't but ill make best of the good ones, Thanks for watching mate, Cheers
So pleased that the treatment went well and hopefully the side effects won’t be too bad. Another great video, don’t worry if you can’t make one each week, we can always look back at the previous ones, they warrant a second look usually.
Hi Matty, you're right to stay active and engaged. It's always good to see you in your shop but take time off whenever you need to. The most important thing is to rest whenever you feel the need. We'll be here when you're ready.
Good luck with the chemotherapy mate, take care of your health, and we will understand any slight hiccups in the videos. Stay as healthy as possible, think of yourself and immediate family before your TH-cam family.
What a great project Matty. Would love to see footage of that engine running! Best wishes for your treatment, stay strong, your TH-cam followers are all right behind u ❤
Hi Matty. First up, you have no need to apologise for anything, health always comes first. Second, good luck with the chemo 🤞🤞and finally, great job on that igniter. No matter how many machine tools you have, sooner or later you have to get the files out 🙂Cheers, Alan.
Hey Matty, A fellow cancer patient here. Going on 5 years. Do stay active! I focus on whatever I am going through for treatment on a given day... let them do what they do, and you focus on what you do. I take the approach, "whatever they do to me this morning, I know I'll be in the shop later today"... or whatever you love doing. That's if you feel well enough. You can even just keep busy cleaning up, organizing, little catch up projects. Don't let worries about tomorrow rob you of your today. Just a few tips that help me out. I just started watching your channel after watching Kurtis for a while now. I love watching these kinds of projects. So stay positive, stay busy and I'll always look forward to your next video.
Gday, Thanks very much, it certinaly knocks you around, I get my next treatment tomorrow so I guess ill be a bit crook for a few day but I need to stay motivated and the workshop is the best place, Cheers
I also have help with some meds which help me keep on an even keel mentally. So they help also. Keep at it and Looking forward to your updates and future videos.@@MattysWorkshop
Please put yourself first. Yes we love your films but dont struggle making them if you feeling under the weather. Get this treatment done and be well. I guess its starting to warm a bit down under because up here we are entering autumn. That engine part looks good, as does Trevors work. Make a film of it running.
Gday, I’m going to keep making videos as much as possible to simply keep active and keep the mind in a good place, once the engine is running I’ll be sure to film it, thanks for watching and commenting, cheers
So sorry to hear about your cancer. Like you said keep a positive mindset and don’t give up. Thoughts and prayers coming your way from all of your viewers God speed.
Nice job 👍👍👍 great to see you out in the shop I've got you in my prayers everyday 🙏🙏🙏 just remember not to overdo it concentrate on yourself and healing first and don't be so hard on yourself the videos fine you concentrate on you first and we'll be here when you're ready 🙏🙏🙏
Nicely done as always Matty. My thoughts are with you while dealing with your health issue. No doubt you will beat this because you have the proper attitude. Best wishes.
I know it aint easy, but keep spirits high and I hope you're able to get this speck of rust out of the way. Wishing you all the best from my little part of the world in the Netherlands.
Great video. Excellent work. Your work gets better and better. You are very talented and I love seeing your videos I learn a lot every time cheers my friend. Kimber
Sorry to hear about the cancer, I hope you take the treatment well and make a full recovery. Keep a positive outlook, negative doesn't help you but to worry and what happens will either way you approach it. Thanks for the videos.
Matt , the part is spot on took many parts for one item to work in a whole piece when put together. really enjoy watching you work ,because you take the time and explain in depth what you are doing in the process .🤠
Gday, this looked like a simple build when I first started but I was a bit wrong, so far it has worked perfectly and hasn’t missed a beat, thanks for watching mate, cheers
Hi matty I was diagnosed with exactly the same cancer in June this year mate my prayers love and strength to you mate keep your head up and stay strong I’m receiving RCHOP chemotherapy and a whole heap of other bloody meds lol eagerly awaiting your updates mate god bless you matty
Gday, I’m on the RCHOP as well and a bucket load of other’s medication, it certainly knocks you around mate that’s for sure, i hope your treatments going well to, cheers
Matty no need to apologize for anything. Remember your health comes first and nothing else is important these days. On the other hand if doing the videos can take your mind off your problems even for a second, then that is a benefit. Hang in there, you have many people on your side sending you prayers and best wishes.
Matty I'm sorry you are going through this my wife had cancer surgery in December and we thought it was coming back but it was just a scare I'll be praying for you and your family good luck with everything you are going through
I hope all goes well with your treatment Matty. Some great machining shown when building this part. It would be good to see the motor running when it is finished. I'm not an expert, but I have made some springs in the past. At that time I found a website that you can use to calculate the diameter of the winding arbor to allow for the spring unwinding a bit and expanding when cut on the lathe. Also, This Old Tony has a great video on making springs for people who need to make springs in the workshop.
Gday, making the spring was all trail and error and I still can’t find the one that went flying, hopefully it lands soon, thanks for watching mate, cheers
Huy Mate Despite you beeing Ausie and i,m Kiwi love your input and stay strong ,,Kia Kaha after 5 surgeries i in 5 years just do wot the doctors tell you.
Gday everyone, First treatment went well with no side affects yet but may feel crap in a day or so, time will tell, Thanks very much for watching, Cheers

Hi Matty, you're right to stay active and engaged. It's always good to see you in your shop but take time off whenever you need to. The most important thing is to rest whenever you feel the need. We'll be here when you're ready.
Gday, I’m hoping to keep making weekly videos but time will tell mate, cheers
Top job be good to see that engine running, thinking of you keep positive
Gday, I can't wait to hear how this engine runs, Im bloody keen to mate, Cheers
Hang in there, man! I wish you a speedy, and sustained remission, we are very grateful for what you have been doing for the hobby machining community!
Gday, thanks very much for your kind words mate, the YT community is amazing, cheers
Good luck with the chemotherapy mate, take care of your health, and we will understand any slight hiccups in the videos.
Stay as healthy as possible, think of yourself and immediate family before your TH-cam family.
Gday Sam, the first treatment went well but was a long day, I’m just going to take day by day mate, Cheers
What a great project Matty. Would love to see footage of that engine running!
Best wishes for your treatment, stay strong, your TH-cam followers are all right behind u ❤
Gday, I’ll definitely show the engine running, the support I’ve received has been very humbling mate, Cheers
Hi Matty. First up, you have no need to apologise for anything, health always comes first. Second, good luck with the chemo 🤞🤞and finally, great job on that igniter. No matter how many machine tools you have, sooner or later you have to get the files out 🙂Cheers, Alan.
Gday Alan, I’m not a fan of a hand file but sometimes it’s just gotta be used, appreciate you watching mate, cheers
Our thoughts and prayers mate. Gods speed on your recovery ❤️🩹

Hi Matty, a big and loving hug from Italy. Force! You will see that everything will work out for the best. I am absolutely sure of it!

Gday, I’m sure I’ll beat this mate, I’m not going to back down that’s for sure, Cheers
Nice job Matty. That's a nice little mechanism. Deceptively simple but lots of awkward parts. Good luck with the treatment.

Matty, Sending best health wishes and prayers... We can wait on videos, so don't over do it..
Cool little project...Enjoyed
ATB....Get well soon...
Gday Dean, appreciate you watching mate, I’ll beat this before it beats me, cheers
Sounds like a great plan for the hot spots, very good doctors. Hercules work is coming along nicely. Thanks for the video.
Gday, I’m very lucky to have the doctors I have, absolutely amazing mate, Cheers
No apologies needed. Your health is by far more important. We are all hoping for the best outcome from the treatments.

Matty no need to apologize for anything. Remember your health comes first and nothing else is important these days. On the other hand if doing the videos can take your mind off your problems even for a second, then that is a benefit. Hang in there, you have many people on your side sending you prayers and best wishes.
Gday, being in the workshop is the best place for me, keeps the mind active and in a good place, thanks for watching, cheers
Matty I'm sorry you are going through this my wife had cancer surgery in December and we thought it was coming back but it was just a scare I'll be praying for you and your family good luck with everything you are going through
Gday, you never know what’s around the corner that’s for sure, I really hope you wife never has it come back mate, cheers
I will keep you in my prayers and good wishes, both to you and to your family. God Bless and take care of yourself.
Thanks very much
Keep fighting my friend. 👍👍😎👍👍
