- Original 1989 Sauber-Mercedes C9 Group C racing sports car with the starting number 61, second in the 24 Hours of Le Mans race in the same year. Top Speed? 400 km/h! The video shows this racing legend in action in picture and sound (engine start-up, warm-up, acceleration race, revs, drive, etc.) on the runway of the Engadine airport of Samedan (Switzerland) at Kilomètre Lancé 2023.
The late 1980s are marked by the return of Mercedes-Benz to the racetracks: The star is initially worn by the Group C racing cars. Towards the 1989 season, the Sauber-Mercedes C9 was given a silver livery, clearly identifying them as Mercedes-Benz Silver Arrows. The new racing cars take eight victories in nine races in 1989 alone!

Thank you! Regarding the "little pod" you mention... I believe it is an air intake for the cockpit. During the race, these cockpits can warm up considerably. 😊
