I wish it demonstrated receiving a call. In thinking about purchasing for my elderly friend, I need to see a demonstration to know if it is intuitive enough to use for someone whose never owned a smart device or computer.
I agree. I bought a portal for my mom, who lives several states away. She's completely illiterate when it comes to using any modern device or the internet. I'd like to know what she should do if I call her.

Will this work for someone without wifi or internet can I call them through facebook and they receive the call without having wifi or internet or will the devices not work without?

How do you get photos into the slideshow or super frame? I can get Instagram photos but not Facebook or personal photos. Also it only transitions every 15 seconds at it’s quickest

Hello! All I want to do is set up so my mom can browse Facebook. Is there a way to download the Facebook app. I think it absurd to create a FB portal and not be able to browse Facebook or other family profiles.

This was great video, but mine is in tutorial mode and I've looked everywhere it lets me too no avail. Also I cannot manage the sound for incoming calls so I miss most of my calls could you or someone help me to get this under control.😊

Great video. My Portal would respond to "Hey Portal, call my phone" and my mobile phone would ring. I used it to find my phone in the house. Now it doesn't, not sure how that function is missing now, but don't know how to get it back.

Does the receiver of the call also need a portal device?
My brother and I were just using his new mini portal. He called me on it and I can get it on my Facebook messenger or chat. We could still watch a movie or whatever together. Just need to review videos on you tube about it so you know how it works. I love it. you can play games on it also.

Please could you (or anyone who owns a portal, (10 ideally, but it probably doesn't make a difference)) do me a favour and tell me what DC voltage and current the AC power adapter provides. I want to make a battery pack so that the portal can 'roam' around my house, but want to be sure i can do it before I buy the stuff. Thanks in advance.
my dad has this thing and it was working for a few years but recently most of the "hey portal" commands, such as weather, set a reminder, set a timer, etc. (things he used to do and it worked), result in generic screen with four squares labeled "calling" "cooking" "device controls" "music". if i ask "hey portal, what can i do?" it will give suggestions like "you can say things like start a timer, or what's the time in Beijing" - but when i do it it just goes back to that screen and doesn't fulfill the request at all.
i can tell it to make a call and/or navigate the device but it will not answer the general questions like it used to - even the ones it suggests that i ask. the software says it's up-to-date. / =

Thanks for the video. Do you know, is there a way to make your photo slide show the home screen and also disable the touch response feature? I'd like to get this for my Mom who has dementia and I just want her to be able to make video calls by saying, "Portal, call..." and answer video calls by saying "Portal, answer call." Aside from that, having the date, time, and photo slide show is all that is needed. In fact, having any additional apps and access to them would be problem. And swiping back and forth to make calls is not possible for her. Thanks!

I believe you have to twist the kickstand for it to come off.

I was wondering if you had any idea why I can only use zoom on the portal in the browser mode, not the installed app and why I never have sound at that time. I have tried this with about 3 main meeting with family and business oriented. Sometimes I receive a message stating to update browser, but when I try it states that everything is up to date. This has taken up so much time and is so confusing.
I don't know much about this device, but I know that Zoom prefers the app. Even on my laptop, it will revert to the app every time. From Zoom directly I was told that their app is constantly updated where as the web interface relies on too many other variables.Hope this helps.
Never mind!! The Portal healed itself overnight. Connected this morning. All is good.

My portal is black and does not have the same buttons. I have tried the add contacts button, but it does nothing. My call Demo button does nothing. The call people does nothing. I tried connecting bluetooth and nothing. happens. So at this time, it is useless!

If anyone calls you, the portal will ring. And you can answer it.

No. The other party can download the Facebook messenger app.
Suddenly yesterday my Portal decided I had to redo the entire set up. The problem is I neither have nor want a Facebook account. I have used the Portal via WhatsApp. For some reason the Portal is demanding I use a Facebook account to sign on. Neither WhatsApp nor anything else is offered. What am I doing wrong?

@@urbanprojectz I use my WhatsApp account for the Portal. I can explain why, but the following morning after my desperate post, the Portal allowed me to sign in with WhatsApp and everything is back to normal.
