The portal tells you - a light scans across it. Just say "hey Portal answer call" and it will pop up on your TV even if it is standby - or it should do if you have the right HDMI cable and your TV is set up for it.

You can. It is called the Portal, its a bit smaller, but its very perfect for most family spaces, that can't really spare a lot of space. Its about 7 inch screens, which are awesome. The audio quality is the best i've heard on any smart device.
If it requires switching the HDMI input on the TV it's too complicated for my parents. I would have to drive there after every use to get their TV working again.

The packaging is way over the top for something that is going to be discarded, they should have scaled it down and provided an HDMI cable or at the price they should have provided one anyway.

I was expecting them to be very simple to use for elderly parents etc but have in fact struggled to get them running with their Facebook contacts etc. I am happy to sell 1, or 2, or all 3. I have a paypal account and would be happy to release once payment has been received. If they were no good to you I would be happy to accept return if postage was refunded and provided they were in the same condition I supplied them in.

No. It works with any TV with an HDMI socket. Mine is plugged into an ancient Viera plasma.

Works on any TV with a HDMI input. I use it with my 15yo Viera plasma which is otherwise dumb as a rock.

Yes, it's costly and is limited to only Portal users. IT is not worth it. Get ZOOM. Its 15.00 per month.
You need to have Facebook messenger or WhatsApp. My parents have a portal and I can use my phone to talk with them with my Facebook messenger.
