the portraits turned out amazing! just letting you know, the portra 400 v2 recipe from fujixweekly tend to lean too much into the green tones unlike real portra 400 which tend to have a more purplish tint than green instead. i’d adjust the wb to +2 Red -4 Blue instead of +1 and -6. nevertheless, who cares if it doesn’t imitate real portra, the fuji jpegs look great either way. love the video!
Your videos are always amazing. You are one of the very rare people who has a sense of what people like to see. As soon as an update comes out of this camera with IBIS and a sharper lens, I will buy one for myself. Thanks for sharing.
These portraits look great! I shoot a bunch of them with my X-T4 and have no issues whatsoever with focusing or even highlight retention in harsh light conditions. They definitely do an amazing job! Great video btw 👏
I got mine last year about a month before it became the bees knees. After 17 years of strictly using Olympus I was frustrated with it in the beginning. Everything about it was different but soon I found it I was using it so much and it complimented my Olympus gear. I find the colors coming out of Olympus pretty close and was able to get that color chrome film look I like so much. I carry the 100v so much my wife calls it my mistress. I might have that name engraved in it!
Amazing shots😍My main is a Sony A7Riii but to your point I also wanted something compact and great as a walk-around/inconspicuous camera and Fuji is my go-to. Def going to try the Glimmerglass1; cheers👍
Was the b roll shot with the V also? Im trying to see what pairing it with a ninja V to get 10 bit 422, because the colours are so nice out of the fuji just that 8 bit falls apart the moment you push and color through it, even 709 conversion gets a bit ropey.
Thank you! I got mine imported from the USA for around $60 USD. This was a few years ago so I think the cost of this filter has increased with recent hype I’m afraid.
Thank you James! Two questions: the first model’s skintone is to green for me. What should I adjust in the recipe? And when using the GG1 do younchange clarity setting inches recipe? Keep up this good work please.
Thank you for watching! I struggled with green in skin tones with this recipe, apparently Portra 400 version 1 is the better recipe, haven't had much time to test it but have heard it highly recommended. Even with the Glimmer glass I do reduce clarity a little in camera.
Hi James, tell me which camera is better to take, Canon r5 or Canon r6 m 2, is it worth overpaying? Will 24 megapixels be enough for landscapes? You have very cool reviews and comparisons!
Hey Alex! The 24mp from the R6 II look really good and are more than enough for landscape in my opinion, I think they compare nicely to 30mp cameras like the Sony A7IV. I do love there R5 but I feel it’s overkill for most people. Thank you for watching! Hope that helps.
Amazing work, I've just picked up a Lumix S5ii (from one of your other videos)... can that stand up to the X100V for portrait photography? I got it for video really... cheers :)
Tough question. Same sensor so it comes down to if you want an interchangeable lens mount or if you’re happy with 35mm only. I think if it’s your only camera go for the Xpro 3 or the X-E4.
Bought X100v with no idea it was/going to be the sensation it is. I just wanted a small camera along side my XRv. So, here’s a danger warning, this little unit is addictive. It ain’t perfect. You have to work within its abilities. But mate, it’s hard to put down or leave at home. I’ve actually listed mine for sale 3 times and chickened out midway through the listing. I keep convincing myself I don’t need it, I’ve got a Q2. But I put it away and within days I’m missing it. I find younger group love the softer look but my wife prefers the full on sharp Sony. I like both for different reasons.
I’ve been in your exact situation except with the Leica Q. I have actually sold three X100v’s in the past and always missed it and bought it back, now into my fourth and learned my lesson. It’s certainly not a camera I need but it’s just so fun to use and worth owning for that reason alone.
I had a X100S and I loved it. Even if I today use Canon (R6, R62, 5D4) I still have my XT3 with the 35mm f/2, 56mm f/1.2 and 16mm f1.4. Fuji has a unique look
I’m a Sony user but not enjoying it that much, it’s not a fun camera but a workhorse tool to get the job done or when i want ultimate image quality. So therefore i was looking into Fuji for fun and travel, got my hand on an xt10, xt5, xe4, x100v at wex and loved them, especially the retro look with those multiple dials of the xt5. Was thinking to go for a used xt10/xt20 or xt1/xt2 paired with some manual lenses like ttartisans 17 1.4 and 23/33mm or why not even Fuji’s lineup of f2’s AF lenses. Loved your photos in this video with the x100v and made me want a Fuji even more, any recommendations besides what i’ve just mentioned? Thanks! 😁
I think you’ll find the Fujifilms a lot more fun and engaging, I haven’t tried a lot of those models but would personally recommend the XT3 or the XT30, I’m sure the slightly older models are great too but I have used these two cameras enough to know they more than keep up with any of the latest Fujifilms. Plenty of great lenses on the X mount but I was a big fan of the F2 lenses, the 23mm in particular.
Found your channel today. Binged 5 videos already, I really like your presentation format & how you edit your photos. I used to shoot film (until it got expensive af) and this x100v looks to be a great workaround to capturing film-like photos without the hurdles and higher prices
That's so awesome to hear, thank you! The X100v with film recipes is certainly one of the closest things to the film experience on digital, I think you would love it!
There’s a release/focus priority setting that is important to set so that the camera prioritising having the image in focus before releasing the shutter. That helped me get more keepers. Let me know if there’s any more settings you would like to know. I’m happy to send over my full settings if you let me know your email
The B Roll of the 1st model was all shot with the Lumix S5 II (other than in the studio that was all the X100v). 2nd model I used the Canon R6 MKII for the video clips. POV video all shot with the DJI action 3. Hope that helps.
Not sure if I like the look of the ones that were labeled "edited" too much green in the skin tones for my taste. The FujiXweekly Portra ones looked really nice though. The nice thing is the look of these images is that it should be the same for pretty much any recent Fuji camera. I bought an XT4 but I quickly sold it after testing. I liked the colors, film sims and function of the camera but not the crop sensor. I sold it because I decided I was going to save for a GFX which really isn't that much more money especially with some of the sales going on right now and the going rate on the used market. For me it was either waste money on crop lenses and use that system for longer or sell it all and save for a GFX which would get me the GFX sooner. I think it's a smarter move to skip the crop sensor Fujis and just go right to GFX.
The straight out of camera colours are hard to beat! If I didn’t need hybrid cameras I’m pretty sure I would go down the GFX route for portraits. They look incredible.
@@JamesReader I always try to have 2 cameras for redundancy. As long as one of them does decent video I'm pretty content. Right now I have the A7R V which is surprisingly the best video camera I've ever had because of it's upgraded IBIS. I'm having great luck with it handheld.
I would agree on the "edited" looking too much green/yellow skin tones. If this is the style you going for, then enjoy it, but if this is a monitor issue giving you wrong colors, I would suggest you look into that.

Thank you Ashton! I’ll make that adjustment to the WB and see if it helps. Thank you so much for watching!
Agreed. I have noticed that as well
Agreed I did the same adjustment to the recipe
It depends on how it is developed and scanned, Portra 400 can easily have a green tint, especially in shadows.
35mm f 1.4 was my favorite Fuji lens.
Excited to see what X100VI has to offer.
Same here! Can’t wait!
I'll getting a glimmerglass and pairing it with this lens!🤩 @galeidan

Thank you so much Felipe! I’m excited to see what the next X100 has in store for us too.
there you go haha

Thank you Nuno! I love these Fuji cameras. Would love to try the XT4!

Loved the look and feel of this vid. Waiting for the VI, so it will be interesting to see what it's like as an edc along side my XT4.
Brilliant video, very informative. Also stellar shoots
Thank you so much!
love your photography skills!
Thank you !
Nice video! I own the Fuji XT3 and use it for my youtube videos and photos and it is a beast! But this camera looks solid too. Subscribed!
These look really good
Those photos were really impressive!
Thank you Anthony!
What af setting were you using, lovely photographs.

These are great! What studio lighting do you use?
Thank you! Is was the Amaran 100d with the Aputure light dome.
Fuji fam!🙌
Fantastic video, one thing, where do you buy the glimmerglass in the uk? Amazon want over £100 for it!

These were nice, u have to try 56 1.2 for Fuji
I would love to try that lens!

This channel is a gem! What camera did you use for the video portraits of the model in this video?
Thank you so much! The majority of the footage was shot using the Lumix S5 MKII
@@JamesReader love the color grading on your videos too! Neat work🙏🏻

what adapter do you use to attach de filter to the camera?
It’s by a brand called Haoge on Amazon.
Awesome video!!! Subscribed
Thank you so much!
I really like your green jacket!
Thank you DRIS!
Nice images, but why an ISO of 640?
Great shots but do they also seem greenish to anyone?

Bro what camera u r using for video on model in this video and when you take pictures with fuji pov shot?
