This is such an informative video. I don’t recall anyone going through each individual setting, changing the numerical values and demonstrating the differences so clearly. It may not have been the main purpose of your video, but you deserve credit for the effort and hard work. Thank you!

I’m a huge fan of versatility in recipes as well, my go to for a long time has been Fuji super hg v2. It’s a colder superia look but such an amazing recipe that can be used in literally any situation as it uses auto white priority wb. Been looking for a good warmer Astia recipe as well so can’t wait to try this out!

Hey - thank you so much for all your great videos. I'm in love with my new X-E1 and wish Fuji would revive that sensor. I came across an awesome Interpretation of Portra 400 there which is based on pro neg high (don't like color chrome - mostly boring). I spend the day trying to mimic that result on the x100v - it is unbelievable how different the base settings need to be if you want to achieve the same results. It comes down to whitebalalance a lot and color saturation. Whereas the xe-1 only needs a - 1 redshift - the x100v needed a +3 redshift (x-e1 is at 6300k, x100v is at 6700) and plus 3 color setting. It's all about the warmth these newer sensors are missing. Pretty happy with the result though.

Astia is rapidly becoming my favourite film sim. Will definitely try your recipe. Unfortunately neither my X-pro2 or GFX 50R have the clarity and colour chrome adjustments. Maybe I'll just set up a preset in LR for those two settings and "apply on import" to the jpegs. The color chrome blue effect seems to be doing what the "blue saturation" slider does in the Camera Calibration panel in LR, or similar anyway.

Astia!! That is my go to simulation all the time. I like a lot of saturation in my photos and I find Astia strikes the right balance for me. CC is way overrated imo. You’re right about making your own recipes. I used FXW recipes for a while, but found them to be not that versatile and I found many of them to have too much of a yellow tint, too desaturated. I just make my own now. Great video.

Thank you so much for sharing the recipe and most importantly sharing why you were leaning towards those settings. I learned a lot. I was previously using Oywind Nordhagens "Modern Negative" recipe which also uses Astia. I already knew how awesome this simulation is, especially during summer being seaside/riverside. Very cool to see others also like the simulation, which seems to be overlooked at times (classic chrome...hello?).
I dialed in your settings but already knew I had to change a few things coming from other recipes (DR, Grain, Shadow mostly). So, sorry Goughie, I may end up butchering your recipe and make it my own. ;-) Cheers.

I´m not using Film sims. I always feel that they are falling apart in different conditions. I have been testing them out earlier, and the funny thing is that all the stored sims on my V is based on Classic Chrome. I love Astia, so now I have plotted your recipe in to slot 7. Named it Under Construction and I’m going to give jpg another shot 😉 I shot a few pictures of my dog now using your sim, Kodachrome 64, Kodak Portra 400, Kodak Ektar 100, Kodak Gold 200 and Agfa Vista 100, and to be honest, your sim won that battle easily. Thank you for spiking my interest again ❤

Thank you, Goughie! This is the best color recipe ever tried. It pops up every color separately in each situation without any dominance. I wander if you can create the same for the Nikon D500 🙏🏻

Glad you like it! Unfortunately I’ve never used a Nikon camera so I won’t be much help there!
