    What fluid did you use?

    • @lifeasusual
      @lifeasusual  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hello Herb CL,
      Thank you for your question.
      We used TRIPLE QX ATF Dexron II 1 Litre.
      Do you live in the UK? If yes, I purchased it from Euro Car Parts, and the part number is 522776082. Cost £13.49.
      Hope our answer and channel were helpful to you.
      Please let me know if you have any other questions and I am more than happy to help :)

    So my local LR specialist wants $1,000 to service the power steering. I think I will try your method first. Thanks for the video!

      Hi Jerry, great to hear from you again! 😁 Unbelievable!!! Let's pretend a man-hour costs $100, so it would take them 9 experienced professional hours + $100, for example, for the products. Versus ... it took us 2 hours to film and replace the fluid and, I don't remember the exact price for the bottle but it was cheaper than a meal 😄 Unless the LR specialists mean that they want to flush the fluid out vs just replacing it, which is a longer process that may take 3 hours and involves using tools. Because remember, the method I'm showing you in this video doesn't include a single screwdriver! 😁 Let us know how you get on! 👍🏻
      P.S. - Make sure throughout the whole process not to turn the engine on while the fluid reservoir is empty.

    I have a 2011 LR RR Supercharged. When I drove it this morning, the steering was noticeably harder. I checked the garage for leaks, there were none. I’m a 49 year old woman who is about to follow each instruction that you gave in this video. Wish me luck. I will post my results when I’m done.

      Hi Wynona, welcome to our channel! 😁 I believe in you. You can do it!! Just ensure you are using the correct power steering fluid for your vehicle, and don't run the engine without any fluid in, otherwise you risk running the pump dry. But you can do it. Please update me with the results. I am so excited to hear back from you 😁 If you get stuck I am here, you can ask me any questions! 👍

      Well, it worked. But now there is a humming sound when I turn the steering wheel. I’m going to pop the hood and look at the power steering reservoir to see if it’s still filled to the max line since the fluid has now had a chance to completely run through.

    • @lifeasusual
      @lifeasusual  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, make sure it's to the max.

      I'm glad you enjoyed it, Nick! 😊 Just make sure you put the correct fluid for your vehicle! I've also made two different videos on how to properly flush it, if you'd like to do that. 👍🏻Part 1 here th-cam.com/video/skiOyfbEOtE/w-d-xo.html and Part 2 here th-cam.com/video/qTMBZljOWMY/w-d-xo.html 😊

    The Only product to use in Land Rover power steering systems is Land Rover STC50518 Cold Climate Power Steering Fluid. It also must be used in the ACE (Active Cornering Enhancement) dba Dynamic Response System in the Range Rover Sport. It is actually Texaco 14315/33270. Don’t bother looking for it. If you could find it , it’s only available in 100 litre drums. It is green, mineral oil based and expensive. There are alternatives but most are semi or full synthetic. Not sure these older trucks would be happy with those.

      Yes, that's true! We made another video with the correct power steering fluid from Land Rover.th-cam.com/video/skiOyfbEOtE/w-d-xo.html
      It was more expensive, but that's the only available fluid, like you said.

    Did it solve the issue?

    • @lifeasusual
      @lifeasusual  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi Billy, yes, it helped! It wasn't a big deal from the beginning, you'd have to focus to hear the sound, but after it was flushed properly (with the green fluid, we made a newer video here: th-cam.com/video/skiOyfbEOtE/w-d-xo.html ) the sound was completely gone. 👍🏻

    Cold climate fluid not red ATF fluid for a tdv8 🤐

    • @lifeasusual
      @lifeasusual  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Rob,
      Really? But this is what is recommended in my manual.
      Which one should I have used?
      Also, the car was running on red fluid for many years.

      @@lifeasusual Hi, My 5L V8 LR4 manual recommends "Texaco Cold Climate Power Steering" fluid. But, I am thinking of replacing it with a ATF fluid which matches the product description since the Texaco is nowhere to be found. Hope, it would work as long as physical properties are the same.

      @pbbimsara Hi, welcome to our channel! 👋🏻😊 We tried it, and we had no issue, so give it a try and see how it goes! 👍🏻

    • @lifeasusual
      @lifeasusual  ปีที่แล้ว

      That's so weird because the one I took out was the same type that I put back in, and it was red. Maybe I will make another video about this topic. Thanks for sharing your thoughts and your experience! 👍🏻😊

    • @lifeasusual
      @lifeasusual  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi John, thanks for letting me know 👍🏻On the Internet, this is what is recommended, and the previous owner had red fluid as well inside. But I'll keep my eye on it. 👌🏻😊 Thank you for the advice!

    • @johnriley140

      Have to replace my rack tryed to recover the rack with addertive and correct ccf fluid made it a bit better but your oil should be green it looks black like I thought it was burnt but that's its colour so new rack new ends new filter big job taking it out I cringed seeing you doing this wanted to shout at you saying stop lol

    • @lifeasusual
      @lifeasusual  ปีที่แล้ว

      Haha! 😄 No issues so far, but I will have another go at it, and this time maybe flush the fluid rather than replace it. Which fluid brand and model do you recommend?
