WHY WOULD SOMEONE TRY TO SELL THIS PORSCHE BOXSTER 986
MAJOR SERVICE PORSCHE BOXSTER After discovering a coolant leak in the previous video on my Porsche Boxster 986, I refurbished and serviced most of the engine gaskets and parts.
I flushed the power steering fluid and replaced it with a new one, as well as the O-ring. Then, I replaced the air filter, drained the oil and replaced the oil filter. Then, I put in new oil and a new washer, completed the spark tubes with a twist, and went for a drive to test the car.

FIRST OBSTACLE I ENCOUNTERED WITH THE PORSCHE BOXSTER
มุมมอง 1.1Kหลายเดือนก่อน
After discovering a coolant leak from the Porsche Boxster 986 project water pump, I refurbished most engine parts by replacing as many gaskets and fluids as possible. I managed to replace the water pump and thermostat, flush the coolant, and fill it back up. I also replaced the belt and the spark plugs. However, I failed to complete the spark tube replacement. #porscheboxster #porsche #porscheb...

    These specification labels are a scam to drive revenue. I think you did good. Since I'm out of warranty, I'm not even using an oil that has the Land Rover Spec. I have a gas SCV6 that requires the older STJLR.51.5122 spec. Can't find an oil on the shelf ANYWHERE that has JLR spec, old or new. Interestingly, Mobile 1 has an oil that used to have this spec but did not renew their JLR certification, so the spec has since been removed from the bottle. Since I can buy it locally and my engine has not changed, nor the oil for the worse, I just buy Mobile 1 ESP X2 0w20 for my car. Half the price of Castrol, performs well, and readily available. Check this quick vid showing the spec from 7 years ago th-cam.com/video/fEa1rPS_mi4/w-d-xo.html

    Hi Everyone So just purchased a Land Rover discovery sport and it needed diesel, so when getting to the gas station, I tried putting in diesel but the fuel nozzle does not fit into the hole, so couldnt add diesel, it literally fits in half way but not properly because the two pieces of metal that should move or flap when the fuel nozzle enters didn’t move at all! Hope I explained this right I’ve added a photo and video if it helps anyone solve this crisis for me please! Any feedback or anyone had similar problems that can help would be appreciated

    This oil specification thing is an absolute nightmare, I have been trying to buy oil for a LR Defender transfer box, but it appears to be unavailable in France, looking at the spec there is nothing equivalent to it, I now have to do an oil change on my L322, soo I had better start researching into that, I also find that modern oils have a sell by date on them ? Quite why that should be is also a thing I need to look in to. I do wonder if all these quoted oil references are to lock us into going to a main dealer for service. Stay safe! Chris B.

    • @lifeasusual
      @lifeasusual 27 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Hi Chris, this is why I don't believe in buying into the brand oil, rather it's finding the oil specification instead of paying a high price for the brand, and changing the oil very often (once every 6 months or 5,000 miles, whichever comes first).Hope you're well! 😊👍🏻

    Good day. There is s pretty simple solution for removing injector nr.4. You need to remove 2 pipes to get to the engine mount bolts. First one is metal one right under the intake manifold, then second , plastic pipe from turbocharger opens up. On both of them work will be done under the car and also from the engine compartment. Then you remove these two, you have to remove 8mm bolt which is holding the metal bracket, which is covering the mount bolt on the right. Then these jobs are done you can support the engine and undo two mount bolts. For lifting the right side of the engine I used a long piece of wood and supported it between gearbox and starter unit, there is a small triangle space in the subframe. Only centimetre or two is enough if you remove metal pipe from the injector. Hope this will be helpful. Vale.

      @lifeasusual 27 วันที่ผ่านมา

    I have a 2010 Autobiography and noticed you no longer have the 6 pot Brembos. I guess your callipers were replaced with aftermarket. Also, how do you get the coolant to show in upper part of the tank by where the bleed screw is?

      No, they are the genuine Land Rover brake calipers, but my engine is the 3.6 TDV8 Autobiography, not the 4.4. I think that what gives these "expensive" to service cars a bad reputation is the fact that owners will buy aftermarket ,poorly made parts to save money, this comes back to bite them later, or rather the driver that buys the car later, I think people should be happy to save the cost of a main line dealer repair and buy the very best parts when fitting/repairing at home, but there are so many cheap options around now that people are seduced into saving more money. Buying the correct tooling is a very good investment when repairing at home. Good to see your super ramp being put to good use! Stay safe! Chris B.

      Abaolutely, I agree with you, Chris 👍🏻 This is why I always do my best to buy genuine parts. I'm quite happy to have built a tool collection as they help so much, the jobs take less time when you have the correct tool, for sure! Making the best of every inch of the ramp 😁 Hope you're well and thanks for your support as always! 👍🏻

    Good video. Thanks for doing this. I don't like the idea of doing the ECU. I have a 2012 fullsized supercharged ranger over. What I have found out about these vehicles is that they don't like sitting for periods of time which I some time do. They are made to be driven. The more I drive it the better it performs.🤑🤑

      Thank you very much for the compliment, I'm glad you enjoyed it! 👍🏻 Yes, I couldn't agree more, it has a lot of electronics that are battery-sensitive, so the battery has to be in tip-top condition, and for the battery to be in tip-top condition, it has to be driven often. 😁

      Hi! 👋🏻 Watch this video here th-cam.com/video/LoSgF2QNKSM/w-d-xo.html - this is a more detailed video on the GAP tool and it may help you with making a decision whether the GAP OBD tool is the right one for you, and if it's worth investing in it. I hope this helps! 😊👍🏻

    So now we can also appreciate the professional garages a bit more

      I don't think a garage would bother going through what I did, they're most likely to say you need to replace the full hub as the hub is rusted, and charge additional labour and additional parts.

    Could have saved the money. When I did mine, undo ball joint bolts then hammer left and right with a chisel and plenty of ATF sprayed on it, once it starts moving it comes out easy. Leave the subframe end in until last as other wise the arm just bounces around and absorbs any hammer blows so reduces your impact force/ leverage. However to take the arm off the joint just put a big bar in and put some pressure on it then a few heavy blows with a big ball pein hammer will free it from the taper.

      Thanks Richard, please take your time in watching the video as you'll notice that I tried that already and didn't succeed due to the amount of rust. 👍🏻
