long long time ago I was listening to Paul McCartney, "No more lonely nights" and when it got to the guitar solo part, I said... " wait a minute... this is David Gilmour" grab the album and his name was there, same thing when I saw the movie Twister, at the end credits I knew that guitar solo was Eddie Van Halen, I know my heroes! 😉

I am in raptures whenever I listen and I know and feel the hand of God guiding his... What a sound!! Ethereal. I have heard him from 1973 and have never ceased to wonder at his soulful virtuosity even to this day in 2022. God's gift to the world. God bless him forever.
Dave is one of the all-time best. Dave's trademark is his bending. I have never heard it done quite his way by any other player.
If I may:
The particular sound of a player is much like a singing voice. A single guitar can voice itself in a million ways. Players using the very same set-up will sound very different from one another. The differences in body / mind combinations create the various guitar voices we have been blessed with for so long.

When one becomes proficient enough on their instrument that they can focus all their attention on the sound itself rather than the physical act of creating the sound, they become an artist. David’s vocals have also reached that level of proficiency.

He always plays so melodically, musically and passionately. I got turned on to him in 1969. He has been my favorite ever since. Many, many, many "Guitar Acrobats" with their "look how fast I can play" have come and gone. I'm still listening to David Gilmour and still moved by his MUSIC in 2022. I guess that says it all.

Non sono un professionista suono però con l anima è continuo a predicare che il chitarrista funanbolico e con tecniche oggi spaventose non servoni a niente dopo dieci minuti cambi canale. Nessun sentimento solo tecnica. Invece lui altri con due note ti ipnotizza e ti manda in un altra dimensione.

В 1976 родственник моего школьного друга из плавания привëз три английских винила, Роллинги 74, Пëрплы 74 и Pink Floyd 75. Вот тут всë и началось. Вертушка была ВЕГА 101. Музыка P. F. меня покорила и продолжает до сих пор. Для меня это самое лучшее лекарство от всех страданий. Мы не вечны, а музыка Pink Floyd и Queen добавлю, вечна.

Caro amico , proprio perché anche noi siamo eterni e deriviamo dalla Luce e dal Suono sovrasensibili che “sentiamo” qualcosa che ci attira in modo inconfondibile ascoltando la musica di questo mondo. Since I was 18, until now, I find new moods, vibrations, states of mind, and gates to wonderful worlds, full of human feelings of simultaneous joy and despair, at the same time there is always learning about a reality full of - cruelty, hope, anxiety, and unfulfilled dreams awaiting and keep me going. David has a great mind and soul in a delicate balance, we all can celebrate. Long live and joy!

Listening to nowadays music I realize how fortunate I was that I grew up in the era of world class musicians like DG (and so many others). Some youngsters have never heard of him, but when they hear his music they are instantly sold. In 100 or 200 years from now people will still be listening to DG and they will still conclude he was (and luckily still is) a genius.

There is no doubt that DG is one of the greatest Guitar Players in the History of Rock! A True Artist of Sound! At this moment I just can't put into words that will do justice to his greatness! Nothing more I can say because I'm listening to him play and words can never express these feelings I'm having!

My own reaction to Gilmour is quite similar. His craft is indeed a 'thing of beauty' and I can't even imagine the vast numbers of people who have literally been 'saved' from huge negatives in their lives because of it.
