@@hahaadventures4838 the redline is surprisingly low on these. Without the Cobb tune you have to be pin point accurate when shifting or you'll hit redline line and mess it all up.

There's no doubt that the FA24 is a better engine, but the biggest improvement stock for stock is that Subaru finally figured out how to tune an engine from the factory. I had zero expectations that it would be close to even this modestly tuned Stage 2 VA (if we're being honest, fisheye lens or not - he walked you on your stock tune). Once you get the chance to race a stock VA, it will be easy to see just how much the VB's stock tune matters. The, "It's only 3 more hp" complaint looks to be unfounded. Your car pulls strong. This is the first WRX that doesn't need to be tuned from the factory. That isn't to say it's a fast car (101mph trap speed per C&D. Decent, but the SRT-4 was doing that or better in 2003), but rather that it's a really well done car. The VB has gotten too much hate. I can admit I was upset when it was unveiled, but it's become clear that Subaru nailed the engineering on this one.
I agree with everything you said. He definitely was faster than me but it was to show more of how the car isn't as slow as everyone keeps claiming. It's doing well for being stock and the tune really is good.
@@HeavyMetalWRX I think you highlighted that quite well. The JB4 OTS tune also made a massive difference. The response of the motor is just nuts compared to the FA20. I'd probably go Cobb AP with an e-tune myself. It's only a matter of time before Subaru techs largely learn how to visually detect that a JB4 was under the hood on the warranty front anyway. I have a '20 with the performance package (only differences are no sunroof, and has Brembos and Recaros), and I've put thousands into the chassis and engine. It still isn't where I want it to be. It's excellent, but I'm a little bitter about how much I felt needed to be "fixed". I really hope Subaru at a minimum applies the same performance package treatment to the VB. I'd buy. To highlight just how much VB has improved things, I would probably wind up only adding a Cobb short throw kit, Group N transmission/pitch stop mounts, Perrin master cylinder brace and steering dampener lock down as far as performance goes. That sounds like a long list, but that's about $450-ish in parts?
The FA20 in the VA might have pulled timing on a run or two. With my 2018 one pull will feel so strong and then you’ll feel it pull 1.41 on the next and it’ll be a deciding factor in a race
Thanks ! I'm trying to get better at the production quality. I want to have visually appealing videos as I grow. As a one man shop it's all about learning from my mistakes 😅
Graham has tuned all my cars from Ecotech. My 16 WRX FBO made 374 whp on e60 and my 06 STI 405 whp on full E85. Getting ready for a built shortblock to go in the Hawkeye with a rotated 6266. Should make some sauce 🤟🏻🤟🏻🤟🏻
@Kuni - Kimina still nowhere near as bad as na or sc cars. Sc cars literally don't cool the temps down like even stock intercoolers do for 1 and for 2 turbos make same boost regardless of altitude and temp they just have to work harder. On supercharged platforms the boost is literally solely dependent on the density altitude and temp of the air my car changes by 8 psi just from summer to winter its supercharged my buddies 335i ps2 loses 0 boost from summer to winter of course the turbo just looses efficiency. Boost weather was a term used by blower guys it doesn't really apply to turbo guys unless they don't have an intercooler for some reason or if they are 100% maxing out the turbo they have which no good tuner does for longevity reasons of the turbo.
40 was too high in second with the new gearing. I do think we should have maybe started at 50ish on 3rd or 20 in second. We will do more rolls as time permits between the different gears.
I do think that later on when the new wrx can get full bolts and on a e85 mix it's going to make way more hp and torque then VA with full bolts and e85 mix
Yea that is definitely what it's looking like. At the very least the stock block and internals are giving us a higher stopping point vs the previous 350tq limit.

Turbo cars are actually less effected from ambient temperatures compared to supercharged and na cars
Subaru top mount intercoolers heat soak horribly
