    I only use two colors of flukes. Baby bass and pearl white.

    If sunfish/bluegill/etc. are your main forage, zoom’s sungill pattern is absolutely top notch. Nothing I’ve tried has been quite as effective in my area. A lot of sunfish patterns are kind of bright or glittery but sungill is this muted, dark, amber with just enough flash to imitate bluegill, pumpkinseeds and perch perfectly. At any given time, I have at least half a dozen bags good to go. You don’t hear guys talk about that pattern too often which leads me to one of two conclusions. Either nobody knows/cares about it (which is good) or it’s one of those “keep it close to the chest and tell people to use Houdini” situations (which is better). Other than that, I keep strike king caffeines in KVD magic and pumpkin for certain situations when I want something wiggly and/or different.

    Zoom Super Fluke in Albino is one of my favorites, especially with a little chartreuse dye on the tail.

    Agreed with all the colors. My fav is Albino Shad. It's a monster up here in Maine

      Really want travel to Maine and sample the fishing/scenary. Sounds like an amazing place.

      It is an amazing place, even in the winter. Fishing is great as well, everything from bass/pike/musky-native brook trout. There's something for every type of fisherman. If you ever head up this way let me know, I'll get you on some good fishing.

    Great video. I agree with your choices. That is pretty much all I use is those four colors. What is also great is those same colors work very well inshore salt water on reds and trout

    Agreed. Something flashy, something bold, something natural for shad & bluegill.

      Wired2Fish this what I should have been telling myself from when I first got hooked on fishing and accumulated boxes and boxes of various baits and colors. Now I make myself use stuff I just need to get rid of at times or I'd only use about 30-40% of all the plastics I have. Now when I make purchases I "try" to stick t that color theory for all baits.
      So do you always prefer the smaller 4" fluke style baits or do you sometimes throw something bigger like the 5" caffeine shad/ jerk minnow etc..?

    3yr old vid I know...but thanks for it! Even simpler for me. Smoking Shad and White Ice are the only 2 I've been using lately. Have some green pumpkin but haven't put them in the boat in years. I'm rediscovering the joy and success of a basic fluke. Love the way I can rig it to fish from surface to bottom. Simple, fun to fish and very effective.

      Jeremiah Giles bubblegum is probably the one I throw the most. I've had a lot of luck on it in clear water during the spring too just slow walking it over grass beds

    A friend of mine has a farm pond with tons of grass. My go-to for catching nearly every fish in the area is definitely a Texas rigged Z-man jerk shadz in perfect perch. There was one day when I caught at most 15 fish (I had lost count) on a single bait before I finally ended up getting my line snapped and lost it. That elaztech is no joke.

    • @Wired2Fish
      @Wired2Fish  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

  • @manifestgtr
    @manifestgtr 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    All you really need, in my experience is something light, black and blue, and your local forage fish color (mine are yellow perch and bluegills). Mayybbeee a pumpkinseed or watermelon color since those are proven winners? Those are the only ones I carry and I’ve never found myself going “damn, I’m ill-equipped!”

    Do you ever use weighted hooks or is it always weightless?

    • @Wired2Fish
      @Wired2Fish  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't weight them much, but that's because I spend the majority of my time in shallow water. You can certainly catch some on a weighted hook, though!

    So here's a dumb question in the interest of truely learning since I'm a rookie... can fish even see color?

    • @Wired2Fish
      @Wired2Fish  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You bet, most freshwater fish species like bass have cones and rods in their eyes (like humans), allowing them to see different colors. It really can make a difference, with water clarity and sunlight being influencing factors.
