This one is a very fine example. I think it may have been repainted. The motor is very quiet

A good advert for your repair services. Was corrosion of the E-unit drum the main reason for lack of motor movement?

Very smooth running engine. Nice smoke output. Was that the built in whistle? If it was, that's the best I've ever heard from an American Flyer steamer.

This Hudson was in really good shape, but the Air Chime speaker is disconnected. The whistle you heard is the all metal circus billboard- it is in really good shape and can whistle very loudly

I thought so. I have a few of the billboard whistles myself. I also have a prewar New Haven built baggage car with the air whistle.

Love to see the gasket with rtv! Did you enlarge the holes in the smoke unit that the nine chrome wire goes through as some people do? Nice work.

I'll be making a smoke unit repair video when I get around to my 282. I did not have to make the holes bigger, actually was able to use a thin wire as a hook and that pulled the wick through.
