    They say the ancient Mayans used pearls as fillings. Since pearl is a biologically active material that is naturally similar in composition to tooth, the pearl actually activates the genes in teeth that cause bone formation and healing, thereby fusing the tooth with the pearl and forming a completely natural, non-synthetic filling (even BPA free fillings are bad for you because they contain similar "BPA-replacement" plastics/resins that are as bad or even worse for you). I assume pearl powder is also good (if you find a reliable source please let me know; I have only found oriental sources I do not trust so far; I don't want toxic, fake additives). A few years ago, my dentist told me I had 5 cavities that would need fillings. I researched the dental filling materials and realized how toxic they were and told my dentist I only wanted dental gold because everything was too toxic. Eventually, they forbid me from their practice, so I tried a new dentist who supposedly used dental gold, and they would not give gold fillings either, only plastic. Long story short, they forbid me from coming for cleanings too. Finally, I go to a local dentist not associated with any insurance company, and you know what they tell me? They said "You don't have any cavities, just minor discoloration and grooves in some small spots"! Lol, praise God! Get a second opinion and a third if needed!!! These people make most of their money giving people fillings; they don't care about you or your teeth! Forget trying to work with the "dentists" who are not ok with you getting the filling you are comfortable with (ie gold w/o palladium)!

    If you find an old style Krups type 203 made in Hong Kong coffee grinder while thrifting or at garage sales (white base with the see through press down brown top) they are absolutely awesome for grinding to fine powder. I use them specifically for powdering fennel and egg shells etc. and they make very quick work out of it 😉 They are tiny powerhouses. Ive had mine since the 90’s. They wont do big batches but I only powder in small batches anyway. These work better than even those little Ninjas used for smoothies. Making my own tooth powder has literally saved me thousands of dollars on cleanings and other work (I used to go 4 times per year for cleanings then worked down to 2) been making my own for at least 5 years. Doing this and adding a Waterpik in ‘23 was a game changer. My dentist and hygienist were blown away by my results. Dentist even wanted my recipe.

    My experience with oil pulling with coconut oil has been very good. I have oil pulled off and on for about 10 years. As a result, my teeth stay white, and, no, my fillings stay put.
    I am 68 years old. I do drink tea daily, which can stain teeth. But again, my teeth are white. Is it oil pulling? I don't know.
    Be certain to keep the oil out of your drain pipes! Heidi has warned us of this in her other videos.
    I will be trying her toothpaste powder!!!! ❤

    This is what I found about Arrowroot powder. I’ll definitely add this to my tooth powder recipe. Thank you!
    Arrowroot might be a popular traditional remedy for inflamed, painful gums, and sores in the mouth. It may help provide relief and soothing effect, thanks to its anti-inflammatory properties.
    Arrowroot may be a rich source of carbohydrates, B vitamins, and minerals such as calcium, potassium, magnesium, sodium, and phosphorus. It may also have trace amounts of zinc and iron, as well as vitamin B1 and B6. Saturated and unsaturated fatty acids may also be found in it in negligible amounts. In addition, it contains fibers and some proteins and lipids too.

    My father always used baking soda and I got where I liked the flavor too. I grew up in a county where the water tended to be over flouridated and still had a mouth full of cavities so what I use on my teeth only matters to me as far as cleanliness not cavity prevention.

I think my next batch I will use arrowroot powder in it, that’s a good idea. I’ve made the powder with powdered cinnamon and cloves and orange essential oil, used individually.

    Heidi, thank you for sharing your wealth of knowledge! I started using a toothpowder that I purchased ($$) as I was dipping my toothbrush into the powder a thought occured to me, am I contaminating the powder by dipping the brush into the powder 2-3× a day? What are your thoughts? Also, does the powder stain your toothbrush? Your tooth powder is by far much better! Interesting tidbit - my clenching guard/ grinding had turned this strange orangish color, neither the dentist nor the orthodontist could explain why. Once I started using the powder, the guard is no longer colored and it looks like it did when I first received it! 🎉

    Ive never made my own toothpaste or powder before so im curious, if you store it in a jar do you get a knife or spoon or something to scoop it out with or just use your toothbrush? Sorry if that sounds like a stupid question.

      It is not a stupid question. For anything made with coconut oil, it can be tricky if stored where it stays solid. I find adding another type of oil like olive or avocado to make it set less hard helps quite a bit but I just use my toothbrush to "scoop" it out

      Depends on if you are using it straight or mixed with other powders and how saturated it is before spitting it out. Because I brush for a long time so there is a lot of saliva by the time I am done and the clay only makes up less than one part of the blend, I do not worry about it

    My tooth powder is bentonite clay-based, and similar to yours. I cut back on the baking soda because it burned me, but it is still in there. And my teeth are very white, even though I drink coffee! I also add some xylitol for a little sweetness. My original recipe called for powdered mint leaves, but I could never get them powdered. I despised the big black hunks in my mouth! So that went away.
    I have a question about coconut oil. My first time making toothpaste, I put coconut oil in it, and then I heard that coconut oil in large amounts can be bad for a septic system, which is what we have. So I quit. What have you heard about that?

    • @RainCountryHomestead

      Usually the number one go to for most women is ginger tea, if not that then she should try peppermint and/or chamomile. There are many more but start with those as they are the most common.

    • @reibersue4845
      @reibersue4845 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Congrats what a blessing! Ginger and peppermint are a good start. Remembering my pregnancies, what helped me a lot was keeping in a little baggie in my pocketbook of some really dry crackers or pretzels.i liked matzo crackers, dry, and no fats. I was sensitive to the fats. I'd nibble when I was nauseous. Another hint is she needs a good bowel regime. The iron in the prenatal vitamins will cause constipation and constipation just makes you feel more nauseous. Tell her not to worry if she can't eat too much. Usually nausea passes after the 1st trimester and the prenatal vitamins will be sufficient during that time. I also found early on I preferred bland foods. And don't be surprised if suddenly she hates certain foods that she used to love. Best of luck. And again congratulations.

    Why? yes, those would be okay - but how complicated. Coconut oil is all you need to clean and whiten and rebuild - it does everything. Yes, could use peppermint tea - but just drink it for fresh breath. Just add your organic baking soda to your water in the evening to get your body alkaline (healthy). I am 80 and my teeth keep getting better with just coconut oil. I just rub it into my mouth before and after my evening (bedtime) shower. Some actually put it in the mouth and call it coconut pulling. I just rub it on my teeth (both sides).

    • @RainCountryHomestead
      @RainCountryHomestead  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Why: Because it is a matter of choice. As I said in the video, you can use coconut oil alone and I do sometimes but sometimes I prefer the powder. For me it all just depends on the moment, for everyone else, it all depends on the person. Again. Matter of choice. PLUS, I like using hte clay to help remineralize my teeth. So again, do what works best for you and what you prefer best. Nothing more. It does not make other methods useless to others though
