I had a “mini stroke” about a month ago. MRI came back ok (layman here looking up and researching what the report says) and carotid arteries are fine. I have had high cholesterol all of my 74 years. I took Lipitor for a while and quit taking it because I felt horrible. Both of my parents had very high cholesterol and my Mom’s carotid arteries were 95% blocked on both sides. She was almost 95 when she passed and my Dad was 93. I have to go see my doctor this Thursday and I KNOW she will be lecturing me about taking statins. I’ve told her no since I first started seeing her and will do the same until I leave this earth! I may need to change doctors because I’m not buying the big pharma thing anymore! I’m watching some of your past videos and am learning so much! Thank you for all you do!❤️

I was an RN until I had the sense to retire I researched cholesterol years ago and my conclusion was that the entire cholesterol story was a big scam by the pharmaceutical industry. Statins, beta blockers and few other meds are what I called ‘just in case’ meds. In fact one drug I worked out that only 2 in 100 people might benefit, the rest took it for nothing. Go back to the 80s and see how that coincided with HRT and the amount of hysterectomies performed. The allopathic medical industry for the most part is not your friend. Yes if you get knocked down by a bus then it’s great, but for long term conditions, many of which are lifestyle induced, they are useless and often downright dangerous.

I am very happy when I hear people with smarts. I never take medication of any kind not even the covid shot. These evil people wants t force things on you, and I just refuse to listen my ldl is 2.88 my hdl is 2.44 my dr thinks I should take lipitor, she has been so persistent about it I took the prescription, but never filled it. I took my blood work to another dr, she told me noting was wrong with my cholesterol.
I took my papers to a naturopathic dr. Who told me every thing was good. Except, he wanted me toget my Alc below 6. It was 6.2, so every thing is going good when I get up in the mornings, my sugar is 3.9 to 5.2 so I know I am on the right track .don't for one minute that thes drs, know much more than you. Many of the bright minds quit school early and have been very successful. So use your own judgment.

Hi Heidi. I know you know this, but a few of our community may not. When using natural supplements, please remember there will not be instant results. The natural ingredients tend to work with your body. They may take longer to work for some people. It may be days or months to really see results. In this day & age, people sometimes expect instant results. Sometimes it is better if results are improved over a span of time. This allows your individual body to work with a supplement. Plus the results will be longer lasting. Stay safe. Keep prepping. God bless.

    • @RainCountryHomestead
      @RainCountryHomestead  2 ปีที่แล้ว +22

Right and thank you for bringing that up. Same applies to assuming just taking an herb or supplement will cure a disease when there is much more to it than that. I think this mentality comes from big pharma medicine where there is always "a pill for that"

Thank you, Heidi, for more helpful information!! I remember growing up and my grandmother had high cholesterol and she was on meds, they told her not to eat butter, so switched to margarine, Crisco, vegetable oils and her cholesterol was still high. When I started going to school for nursing, I believed what they spouted. Well, I started looking into health and a little herbalism, and was telling my grandma not to eat these things; but she trusted her doctor; so, she still ate those things. The problem that was going on with her was heat issues as well. Grandma never got off the lipitor and still had high cholesterol. My mom as well is on cholesterol meds too! but she smokes, eat not good, and again they trust what the doctors feed them. I am not on any cholesterol meds, and I will not go on them. Heidi, like you I will try it with healthy things first, by eating good things and herbs, vitamins; before taking things that will cause other things. Thank you, Heidi, for another good informational video.

Every time she checks my cholesterol, and BP she is scarring me . I started to be frightened. Apparently my triglycerides is high . So, I surrender. 3 day's so far . But doubt is there already. What's funny is I was told I was borderline high cholesterol, and was told to lower it, so I looked up the best foods to lower cholesterol and to raise the HDL & lower LDL. Ironically, eating the whole egg (minus the shell, of course) was a one food that lowered the raised HDL and lowered LDL. Yet the pamphlet the doctor office gave me said to do egg whites only. Always do your own research and follow with an educated decision. The decision is yours, not the doctors'. I followed my own diet that I found online, and when I went back to the doctor 6 weeks later the doctor was pleased with the results, then I told him what all my diet was, and he laughed and he said nodded saying that the pamphlet needed to be updated.

@@RainCountryHomestead probably because the pamphlets were from paid adverts like the "free" samples of drugs doctors used to give perhaps? I told him point blank that it was pretty lazy for him to just give people those pamphlets to follow. Not everyone is going to be like me and do more research. I mean, many of his patients are elderly, and don't have access to the internet because they are intimidated by it. They feel like they're too old to learn to use it... which is a load of horse pucky.

You made me smile when you talked about eating okra before it got to the slime.
My sister always hated okra because she said it's too slimy.
I myself love okra especially if it's breaded and fried.
I had just made myself some when my sister stopped by to visit, she walked in helping herself to some of my okra, telling how good it was.
I asked her when she decided to eat okra, she grimaced and shivered telling me she never touches the stuff.
That's when I burst out laughing telling her what she was busily munching on.
    Now she makes her own.
For me I rarely give up on eating something until I've tried it different ways for the exact reason my sister discovered she didn't mind it one way but despised it another, sometimes it's all in the prepping that can make something either good or terrible

There are 2 things I would add to your list:
    1) instead of fish oil I recommend a blend of flax and chia seed. You can find some really good cold milled blends. Flax seed tends to have higher omegas than the oil.
    2) black seed is really good for balancing cholesterol levels. You can take the seed whole, or use it as black seed oil.

I absolutely love your videos. They always pop up in my research. I didn’t see any comments, but if it is in here my apologies. One of my favorite things to add to our diet and to our dogs is common purslane. I believe in eating the weeds. Common purslane is very high in omega-3‘s. I have substituted okra with common purslane and many recipes. It’s amazing one of my favorites. Can be eaten raw or cooked.

I've found when it comes to certain blood tests it's what you've been eating in the days or weeks before the test.
Case in point, I had tests for cholesterol, mine have always been great then one time it came back elevated, I asked if the pepperoni I'd been eating for the week before could mess up the test. Doctor said it might.
I went back to eating my normal diet, skipping pepperoni and fat.
The next month the doctor did another test and mine came back completely fine again.
