Ironically Southampton's only major trophy, the 1976 FA Cup, was a 1-0 victory with the only goal scored by a lad from Portsmouth.
I am from Nepal, and I am proud of history of Pompey and the city. I've always enjoyed following south-coast derby game. May it come sooner to watch it again, if they remain in the championship next year.
Shut your eyes scummers trophies part coming up 😅😅
They invented furlough
The only domestic honour Portsmouth haven’t won is the league Cup. They have also been champions of England twice. No comparison . Come back in 100 years.
Shut up Skate… we beat you two to one… that’s what counts

Portsmouth no contest, although they'll probably never admit it in Southampton.
Portsmouth have a better history but funnily enough I associate Southampton more with the premier league and first division than I do Portsmouth as in my lifetime Southampton have been in the premier league a lot more.
Portsmouth used to be a big club. Not anymore. A lot of their recent (ish) success came from an owner spending money they didn’t have. When it came time to pay their bills the took money from charities and then tanked to the 4th tier of football.
The only reason Southampton aren’t still in the prem is because after they were taken over by a Chinese billionaire he was than banned from investing any money due too new Chinese laws. So to buy any players they had to sell there best players first meaning they missed out on some cracking deals. By the time a new owner was found the damage was already done. You can only survive in the prem for a short amount of time on a shoestring budget
But still haven't won fa!! But in an emergency scummers ring 999 thats what i call embarrassing ✴️🌙✴️🌙🏆🏆🏆🏆🎖️🎖️🎖️🎖️Ohh where's your's?
History is defined by the winners names engraved on the Trophies. No one ever judges a team by "played well against Liverpool in 2009."
It's pompey all day long.
I am a Chelsea fan from London and as my late beloved dad who hailed from Monaghan in the Republic of Ireland, who was a Pompey fan ( it's a long story) and as his side of the family including his sister lived in Hampshire and are Pompey fans, i would side on to Pompey. When Chelsea fc played away and Pompey was playing at home i used to travel down to Hampshire and watch Pompey games at Fratton Park. Also as a family we used to holiday at Hayling Island in the 70's and early 1980's. Play up Pompey. CFC 57 💙💙⚽️⚽️💂♂️💂♂️🇬🇧🇬🇧🏴🏴🇮🇪🇮🇪💙💛🇺🇦🇺🇦
We will see next season, Pompey go up, Scummers remain in the Championship, PUP
Portsmouth FC holds all attendance records at the new Wembley stadium. Just proves we are a big club. Biggest Club on the South Coast.
Pretty sure Southampton held it before Pompey. Think both sets of fans are pretty even in terms of following. Wouldn’t say that you lot having the most fans at Wembley proves anything really you got a bigger allocation tbf
Clearly Portsmouth by a country mile
Portsmouth without a doubt have the better history. But can see Southampton winning some trophies in the future while Portsmouth seem to be struggling to get out of league one.
not any, portsmouth are smashing league one right now
😆
just a gentle reminder, don't forget to see where Pompey stands in league one today. Haha!
@@tnl1805 took them how many years though?😂
@@OAFC98 how many years we faced the challenge and came out as a winner! Think it.
Since when did S come before P?
Why don't we have some kind of competition spanning over 100 years to find out?
If we were to compare these clubs on the size of their catchment area, say a radius of 20-25 miles, probably not a lot of difference!! Pompey probably have a catchment area that is comparable with the likes of Derby, Leicester, Nottingham, Middlesbro, ansd if we split the Sheffield area 50-50, there would not be a lot of difference. That should be Pompey's aspiration, Attracting similar sized crowds if and when FP is expanded to accommodate gates that match the catchment area.
Only time saint's won fuck all a pompey boy scored the goal for you
Portsmouth obviously look 👀 at the trophy cabinet ffs
Pompey so clear
Tranmere/Wrexham please!
Best team on the South Coast? For trophies Portsmouth, and for form, Bournemouth and Brighton.
Portsmouth in my opinion 1929 FACUP runners up to my team Bolton Wanderers top flight for years
and in 1934 to Man City.
His graph is wrong at 1994.
If we’re talking about in most people’s living memory, then the Saints are absolutely clear.
non stop battles against relegation 😆
Portsmouth: wins trophies
Southampton: sells players to bigger clubs
Matt Le Tissier has scared every future Southampton talent into moving away. You could spend your entire career as a big fish in a small pond at Southampton like he did, but the club will never win anything. As a result, Le Tissier's career highlight is that he was never picked over Gascoigne for England.
Silly question 😂
There are loads of clubs that won the league way back, Preston NE (2), Huddersfield (3), Sheffield Weds (4), Sunderland (6). It was from the time when players played on Saturday and worked in a factory during the week. It was a level that wouldn't challenge a Hampshire League team. It means nothing, they are nothing teams now living on past glories, the same as Pompey and their fans.
yeah loads of clubs.... but not southampton
Since 1950 when Portsmouth last won the league, they have played at that level for 17 seasons in 73 years. Southampton 46 seasons.
Southampton have been overwhelmingly superior in most fans' living memory.
Pompey are a small club.
Southampton with the better Head to head 😄
Southampton, obviously 😂
😁😆😅🤣😂
Southampton are the bigger club , trophies don’t mean anything , Leicester and Blackburn have both won the premier league but they’re not a bigger club than Tottenham , Southampton win on every single other metric bar trophies so clinging on to trophies won in 13BC is really pathetic
spurs have won the first divison what you on about ?
'Trophies don't mean anything' - Ok mate. Trophies are the ultimate accolade, both for supporters and players. I'd far rather watch my side win a major honour (which I did, in 2008 - hardly 13 BC) but go up and down in league tables than just hover meaninglessly in PL mid table for years before eventually going down anyway. You can keep your silent soulless bowl stadium as well. We are one of 24 clubs to ever be crowned champions of England, something Southampton will likely never know. Since the question is literally about history, the fact this happened in the past is actually highly relevant.
southampton have a better ground yes, but atmosphere ask people in the modern game like Ronaldinio, Henry, Mourinio they will tell you fratton park wins hands down. As for trophies not meaning anything, well I guess not if you dont win any of them. Pompey are a better supported team and far more popular to the neutrals. Stains are not a bigger club
Sport is only about win or lose unless you are a stockholder
