Same. Glycerin and water was the ONLY thing that worked for my eczema. Wish I'd know that before I tried not only prescriptions, but hundreds of dollars of products.
Glycerin is the BEST EVER! Stopped using expensive moisturizer's three years ago already!!! After washing face, I apply a generous layer, then I put any cheap moisturizer over that, which the glycerin absorbs immediately! My face stays super MOIST/HYDRATED for a full 24 hour's!! No need for night cream:)

I use glycerin on wet skin when I’ve finished showering. In dry Colorado It works better at moisturizing my skin than any lotion, oil or butter I’ve tried over the years. I was afraid of trying glycerin for the longest time because of its potential drying effect. Its worth trying glycerin and see if it works for you.
🤍 The right way to use Glycerin is after you take a shower when the skin is still damp, you take a pea amount in your hand and mix it with water, then apply it to your body. It is beneficial in winter. will soften your skin and keep you warm too. 🤍
Yeah I am using glycerin like this for years...and it is Amazing...I mix it with water or rose water in a 25/30% glycerin proportion and it works for me
Glycerin in shampoo is great, cause it gives volume, but in a conditioner/mask it can be frizzy especially for wavy and curly hair if you use it too much. And the trick for glycerin for me in haircare is to mix it with water -> spray hair. Then put your preferred oil (cocounut, shea butter, olive oil, jojoba, sweet almonds - depending on your hair). Leave it for up to 45 minutes - then you go into the shower to wash your hair :)
My mum use to use glycerin to moisturize my face hands and feet when I was young and I had been using it till I was 14yrs old.. let me tell ya from experience my face, hands and feet were softer than a baby’s butt.. 😜 back when I use to live in Pakistan (northern side which is coldest region) glycerin was a staple in winter time since it was affordable.
In Bangladesh we also use it in the winter it is marketed as a winter product. we mix glycerin and water in a 1:2 ratio some like to put moisturizer on top of it many don’t use any moisturizer on top of a glycerin. There is another used that is called glysolid. But glycerin in more affordable then glysolid
Great video Dr D. I have seen several "beauty" channels that talk bad about glycerin, how they avoid it, and I don't think they have a clue it naturally present in our bodies. I don't think we need to be afraid of glycerin in skin care!

And I’ve left it on my face all day & it doesn’t dry it out at all…quite the opposite…very moisturizing. Thank you for including it in your YT videos!
Been using The Heritage Store brand of rosewater and glycerin over the last few years on my face after my shower; it has totally changed my skin for the better! It’s the only face product I use as skin care, aside from my face wash. It even works great when I have a psoriasis outbreak. It has reduced redness and fine lines, and has definitely plumped up my skin.

A bit OT but can be useful for someone :) For about 3 months I wash my hair in 3 steps: conditioner-shampoo-conditioner and I really recommend that :) My hair is long but I almost don't have split ends (y)
I don't use conditioner at all as my hair is short and though its fine, it is strong, plus, most conditioners just make my hair oily and heavy. All depends on your hair and skin type. My scalp is oily. My hair gets cut often enough for it to be good on the ends. Never have problems and colour my hair at home regularly. Saves me a ton of money.
I mix 2 teaspoons with a cup of distilled water and a teaspoon of honey and spritz on my hair. My hair is fine, breaks easily, and prone to frizz. I’ve found that this makes my hair softer, more healthy looking (I can’t say if it actually is more healthy), and controls my frizz. I usually agree with you Dr. Dray, but I’m sorry, I can’t this time.

So many people out of work these days and so shouldn’t be buying overpriced eye cream. I try to buy just the basics for cleansing, moisturizing and sun protection. I get what you are saying but I actually really enjoy making my own products. 🤗 I am on 2 prescriptions (tretinion and hydroquinone). Sometimes my skin gets a bit irritated cause I am in the early stages of usage and my glycerine based face mist works better at soothing my skin then any product I have ever purchased. I have never had any issues with rancid ingredients. I like making my own lip balms, face sprays, deodorants, lotions and oil cleansing blends. For my face spray I use about 2 tablespoons of palm glycerine, 2 tablespoons of apricot kernal oil about 3 oz of distilled water and 3 oz of coconut alcohol based witch hazel, about 10 drops of vanilla and that is a heavenly face mist. I make new spray every 2-3 months and keep it out on my counter. When I oil cleanse I use apricot kernal oil, sunflower derrived vitamin e oil and tamanu about 1/3rd of a teaspoon of each. These 2 things make my skin so glowy and the tamunu takes the redness out of my skin.
The chem major in me shot up when you mentioned the molar mass of glycerin 🤣 now you have me super curious to check on other ingredients since i see hyaluronic acid sodium salt is about 400 g per mol
@@philomath1212 Glycerin and Hyaluronic Acid are humectants that attract and hold water. However, they behave differently on the skin. Glycerin is a small molecule which is capable of absorbing at the skin’s surface. Hyaluronic Acid is a very large molecule that sits on top of the skin when applied, creating a hydrating cushion. Combining both Glycerin and Hyaluronic Acid provides a superior capacity for binding water and boosting hydration.
@@philomath1212 not necessarily, that is likely the molar mass of the hyaluronic acid present actually in our skin tissues; my assumption is that manufacturers (Reputable) will downsize the molecular mass somehow. It will depend product to product..
@@philomath1212 yes, u can search about glycerin and u will get a video of certified chemist who said glycerin is better than hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic acid is good, it does the job, but not better than glycerin tho.... 🌚It's all what he said
I've had very dry, cracking skin on my hands, especially around the fingernails, all my life. I've tried everything. The only thing that's helped was Heeltastic for cracked feet but I can't use that and touch things all day long and it doesn't smell good. I just used CeraVe Moisturizing Cream with hyaluronic acid and ceramides with 1 drop of glycerin on the back of each hand and blended it well... best results I've ever had even after just using the CeraVe alone. Going to continue to do this to see if there is even more improvement.
I do half glycerin, half moisturizer every AM and it’s cured my chronic dry skin on my face. However, I live in Virginia (which is a very humid climate). When I went to visit Colorado I skipped this morning step because I didn’t want the moisture to be removed from skin. Additionally, I only wash my hair (natural gray) every 7 to 10 days because I’ve been dry my entire life 😂, but on wash day, after blow drying my hair I rub straight glycerin into my ends of hair. It’s sticky and feels weird for about 30 minutes…but then it feels soft and amazing. I’ve been doing these 2 routines (skin & hair) for about 5 years and the benefits (on me) have been AMAZING. I’m a glycerin lover 😅❤
In India glycerin and rosewater mixed is a very common beauty treatment at any home, that's interesting you say it does dry the skin.. I have never heard of that and surprised by it ☺ I guess everyone is different and always good to try before longterm use. 🙏☺💛
It does dry the skin out if you don't dampen your skin first, i have dry skin and the first time i applied it to dry skin and it dried out my skin further, but after i started to use it on damp skin, it is literally the only thing that is working for me
I’ve always used glycerin based products. Also, my 57-year-old face/body hasn’t seen the sun since I was 18 and I’ve never had a sunburn. I really dislike the sun. I take plenty of Vitamin D, as we get Vitamin D from the sun and need it for strong bones and teeth. Women are prone to Osteoporosis, so that’s another important thing to consider. I love nighttime. I live in Florida and there are so many young girls who’ve already ruined their skin. Cancer’s a big issue in this state as well. I’m happy to say that I’ve never had anything done whatsoever. No Botox or fillers…nothing. Staying out of the sun pays off! My husband jokes and calls me a vampire. He’s an M.D., so that comes in quite handy. SPF clothing is excellent as well. Back to the topic at hand; glycerin is inexpensive and it truly makes my skin and hair shine!
I don't know about other diy... But i have a dehydrated combination skin.. So i use 1 teaspoon glycerin with 1 tea cup of rose water put it in a spray bottle & shake it before applying at as a toner... & it works wonder & even my lt. Grandma used glycerin.. It's no doubt cheap but it worth d money..
Dr. Dray my experience w glycerin is very positive. For years I was itching down below and I went to my PCP and OBG and never could they find a problem for my itching. I tried everything. Then I bought Whole Foods 365 Triple Milled Fragrance Free Glycerin Soap. I use it only there. Problem solved for about 3 years going!
the problem with vaseline is that it is a petroleum byproduct and is completely unregulated by the FDA, meaning there is no standard for purity. petroleum contains a number of carcinogens that are extremely toxic to humans and we really don't know if they're leaching into vaseline or not.
I’ve been using Vaseline for years and no negative effects everyone in my family has it in their house lol good for hair skin face my mom use to slap it on my face every morning before school. I’d say if it’s not broke don’t fix it do what works best for u
Thanks for this video, I've been a stan for glycerin for a few years and can only say good things. I talk about it on my channel ALL THE TIME when doing skincare. It's the less fancy alternative to hyaluronic acid and I buy bottles of the stuff to add to moisturisers, toners and haircare when I don't feel my skin is hydrated enough. I wouldn't use it neat it though. To those in the UK, it's dirt cheap and you can get bottles of the stuff for £2 at Boots if you're not happy with how moisturising your products are, add a bit in. In addition, if you've got natural or thick curly hair, it helps the frizz and dryness when added in to your haircare. Our climate helps since it's always raining or humid in winter 🙂
That is my issue, the climate I live in - Australia, south. Its so dry here, my skin plays up and my hair. I notice a HUGE differene if I go to Europe or the UK/Ireland, even good old Tasmania, an island state of our's below the mainland of Australia, there is more moisture in the climate of the aforementioned.
I use glycerin after a shower, while still slightly damp, followed by an occlusive. I also live in in mild humid climate (western Washington)so I feel like the water loss is less of a factor than say in California.
Hi Dr. dray, i have been loving the little edits here and there in your recent videos. And I feel like we have been seeying a little more of you and your humor and its been absolutely amazing. Thanks for the great videos as always💙

Dr Dray, totally off the topic, but do you use hair color? What are your thoughts on them? All those chemicals and the smell!!! I would love to hear about alternatives! It must be getting colder there, too! Your fuzzy zip up looks cozy!!!
For me it is nothing like hyaluronic acid, I have dry skin and live in a dry country, it’s sucks all the water from my skin. But glycerin in spray mixed with water is a god send for through the day hydration.
I switched to a little bit of vegetable glycerin mixed with water in a spray bottle and it works perfectly for me! I also pole dance so it gives me that perfect moisturized but tacky feel, I rarely reach for lotions anymore!
suffered dry, flaky, burning, itching, hurting, red and swollen skin from sebderm (I guess😬. I'm not really sure but I did some searching and my symptoms match the most with it). the area would then get hyperpigmented. I tried few moisturisers, cheap ones and although they stopped the dry flaking they burned my skin💀. the only thing that worked, tada. dove soap, glycerin and vaseline. the cheapest stuffs. First, wash my face with dove soap. then wait for some time and put diluted glycerin in still damp skin. wait for it to be dry (?) then layer vaseline on top. cured it overnight. literally overnightttt. now my skin looks like it never went through anything. doesn't cure permanently though (ofc) . note to myself, never use any other soap, never use any facewash, never use any moisturiser with fragrance. just stick with dove, glycerin and vaseline. water plays a huge role too. I'm glad I found this cure early on before my skin got worse.
I am totally confused as to the benefits and dangers of "glycerin". First off...are we talking about "glycerine" like soap or is it a bottle of Vegetable Glycerin(otc)? Are they the same? Two months ago I saw a blog saying that applying "vegetable glycerin" to the face while diluted with a few drops of rosewater would make my skin smoother and improve texture. I used it at the end of my nighttime routine for 1.5 months. I applied it to my arms and neck as well. 1st month my skin looked great! Three weeks ago, I noticed beige/pink spots appearing on my face. Two weeks ago, tiny blisters with white "PUS-FILLED" centers broke out next. Now Bumps. "VEGETABLE GLYCERIN" was the only new thing I've used on my face/arms/neck...so it IS the likely culprit. Those were the three places I applied the VG. Those "spots" were not melasma nor hyperpigmentation. It was an allergic reaction that I have never experienced before in my life of 61 years. I did not have sensitive skin...maybe now I do? I have been using anti-allergen sheet masks, calming carrier oils, and stopping all actives...trying to return my face to its prior clear condition. It will be a long road ahead. If Dr. Dray or any other professional can clarify about this issue...I would be very grateful for the help. My confidence is pretty shook...right now. My next stop will be a Dermatologist.
Does anyone suffer from dry and sometimes painful under eye area? How do you moisturize without having it burn under the eyes? What heals that sensitive skin?
Thank you Dr. Dray everyday we are getting dermatology knowlege... skin and hair care, amazing 🥰❤️ its like a clinic consult daily via your youtube videos. Appreciate it very much... 💜
Thank you for your video. Is it safe to use clearly natural glycerin soap on your face, hair, and body(including under the foreskin)? I didn’t know if it would be too irritating for all of that. Thank you so much for your time. Peter.
My hair freaking LOVES glycerin (or humectants in general I guess). I do actually like to mix a few drops of glycerin into my conditioner in a container before I get in the shower. It leaves my hair so much smoother and softer than when I don't add it into my conditioner. I never find that is leaves my hair sticky, but I think that mostly depends on your own hair type and the weather where you live.
Glycerin for my hair makes it go into hydral fatigue instantly. Cause my hair is very fine, so it takes no time for it to absorb water, and in return when it's dry it looks like "dry hair" but if u touch it it feels very soft, and when it's wet it feel like one giant piece of gum
I have very dry, flaky skin in my legs. The DIY ingredients I do is 1/3 glycerin and 2/3 rose water. I shake it before I use and spray it in my legs and soles of my feet after shower and or before bed. It really works.
@@nightgal58 oh okay, i was just wondering if the dryness was due to a lack of moisturising. the idea of not moisturising daily with a lotion of some kind is unusual to me & i imagine my skin would also be dry if i didnt. glad you found something that works for you though.

The chem major in me shot up when you mentioned the molar mass of glycerin 🤣 now you have me super curious to check on other ingredients since i see hyaluronic acid sodium salt is about 400 g per mol
Does that mean glycerin is better than HA serum?
🌚It's all what he said
Been using the aveeno calm & restore products this week and already can tell it is helping the itching and redness from my rosacea. Love it!!
I need to pick those up. I also have rosacea redness pretty bad on my cheeks. Dry skin too.
Neurogenia Hydroboost $16 dollars followed by light layer of Aquaphor Healing Ointment $5 dollars is all u need guys trust me. Works as a primer too.
No, you can use it pure and it will make your skin/hair glow.. i have 15 yrs of use and my clients are like wow. But it has to be veg. Glycerine
Excellent how to use it for the hair please
It does dry the skin out if you don't dampen your skin first, i have dry skin and the first time i applied it to dry skin and it dried out my skin further, but after i started to use it on damp skin, it is literally the only thing that is working for me
Can we use it daily?
Never heard of Glycerin making skin dry iv used it for years
I used the glycerin and RW with a damp face not a wet face...yet pustules have erupted.
it actually says that you need to use an occlusive agent afterwards to seal this moisture and dont let it evaporate
I love glycerin based moisturizers, they work better for my acne prone skin
@Dr dray Happy Thursday, glycerin is my favorite in cosmetics, this is one thing I learnt from my mom
happy thursday!
@tripta Walia hey! does using glycerine grow hair on face?
@@fizamunir2484 No Fiza it's been more than 10 years I have been using glycerin, I don't have facial hair
You poor thing! So glad you found a solution!!
Std maybe
Do you still use and recommend? I want to try ...
So just put a layer of Vaseline over the top to prevent the moisture from escaping. That’s what I’m doing and it works wonders for my skin!
the problem with vaseline is that it is a petroleum byproduct and is completely unregulated by the FDA, meaning there is no standard for purity. petroleum contains a number of carcinogens that are extremely toxic to humans and we really don't know if they're leaching into vaseline or not.

So...what are the best hydrators out there??? I am so frustrated trying to know how to hydrate my face. Glycerin seemed perfect!
I use it for my face by adding a few drops to my serum or lotion. Works very well. :)
I use glycerin after a shower, while still slightly damp, followed by an occlusive.
I also live in in mild humid climate (western Washington)so I feel like the water loss is less of a factor than say in California.
Hey Doctor Dray! Where did you get your pullover? Was it Costco? It looks so cozy!
Glycerin only dissolves in water or alcohol, not oil, so you can't just mix it with shea butter.
Mix ot with rosewater.
Hi Dr. dray, i have been loving the little edits here and there in your recent videos. And I feel like we have been seeying a little more of you and your humor and its been absolutely amazing. Thanks for the great videos as always💙

what kind if glycerin did you use? do you have acne prone skin?
I enjoy Vaseline Intensive Care Lotion; it has glycerin as the second ingredient and is great for my eczema-prone skin. I also was lucky enough to buy 5 bottles for $1.30 each on sale. 😁
😲 What a steal!!!

Can we use glycerin along with tretionin as a moisturizer, can you tell me how we can incorporate glycerin as a moisturizer after treat

too late I have bought a bottle. i have great fun making my own products
Happy Thursday, Dr Dray! I enjoyed hearing about this ingredient. Thanks as always and have a lovely evening. 💕
For me it is nothing like hyaluronic acid, I have dry skin and live in a dry country, it’s sucks all the water from my skin. But glycerin in spray mixed with water is a god send for through the day hydration.
Glycerin is by far better for my skin compared to HA. As a curly girl it's a no no for me.
I don’t use it in my curls either, but I dilute pure glycerin and use it on my skin underneath an occlusive. HA gives me painful breakouts.
Your so awesome, thank you for your priceless advice and wisdom. 😘
thanks for watching
I switched to a little bit of vegetable glycerin mixed with water in a spray bottle and it works perfectly for me! I also pole dance so it gives me that perfect moisturized but tacky feel, I rarely reach for lotions anymore!
DIY homemade bubbles! That's what you can do with your glycerin: -D
suffered dry, flaky, burning, itching, hurting, red and swollen skin from sebderm (I guess😬.
I'm glad I found this cure early on before my skin got worse.
yk my skin had got to the point my eyes were in tears continuously because my skin burned continuously 💀 it was a nightmare inducing shit.
Do you still use this? How did you dilute the glycerin?

Thank you for your video. Is it safe to use clearly natural glycerin soap on your face, hair, and body(including under the foreskin)? I didn’t know if it would be too irritating for all of that. Thank you so much for your time. Peter.
Can you recommend any body lotions that would help fade sun spots on arms and legs?
Are there any studies on the effect of gelatin (ie, literal Knox powder) on skin? Does it provide any benefits or risks?
Its awesome i tried it already and my dakspots on my face was almost gone now.
What type of weather do you live in?
i learn so much from this doctor!! ❤️❤️❤️🌸🌸🌸thank you for sharing your knowledge with us😊
Glycerine/ rose water and a drop of lemon works wonders for skin
Excellent how to make it please
Glycerin for my hair makes it go into hydral fatigue instantly. Cause my hair is very fine, so it takes no time for it to absorb water, and in return when it's dry it looks like "dry hair" but if u touch it it feels very soft, and when it's wet it feel like one giant piece of gum
Is it good to mix glycerin and aloe for face ?
Or else can I apply aloe first and then glycerin on face ?
I have very dry, flaky skin in my legs. The DIY ingredients I do is 1/3 glycerin and 2/3 rose water. I shake it before I use and spray it in my legs and soles of my feet after shower and or before bed. It really works.
do you use daily body lotion or just the spray?
Annika the spray alone works well for daily use.
@@nightgal58 oh okay, i was just wondering if the dryness was due to a lack of moisturising. the idea of not moisturising daily with a lotion of some kind is unusual to me & i imagine my skin would also be dry if i didnt. glad you found something that works for you though.
