We really like the Old Mill and The Pottery house cafe. We Had a Bad experience at the Apple Barn and haven’t went back there. Thank You for your videos !! We enjoy them.
Our favorite restaurant by far. I almost always get fried chicken (bone in); my hubby loves their pot roast, meatloaf,and chicken & dumplings. I don’t usually like anything “creamy” but I LOVE the corn chowder. This video makes me wish I was there now. Love all y’all’s reviews. ❤
@deborahmoore1111 I'm sure their fried chicken is usually good, but the one time I got it, it was bad enough that I didn't want to risk it again. The white meat was so dry, I could barely swallow it.
@NCMemoryMakers it is! I remember that tree and same spot by the window. We thought it was pretty good. I'm a big fan of anything corn 🌽, so I enjoyed it a bit more than Shawn. He got chicken strips, said they were a little dry. I had the fried chicken and it was juicy.

I agree with you on the Corn Chowder! You can sub a cup of Vegetable Soup in place of Corn Chowder. Sometimes they are sold out of the Vegetable Soup if it’s late in the afternoon. You can also sub the Corn Chowder for a third vegetable. The Meat Loaf is one of my favorite entrees at The Old Mill.

We've only eaten at the Old Mill twice, we enjoyed both visits. We had the grandkids with us the 2nd visit so we had to hit the candy store and ice cream at the Creamery...yum!! Awe The Old Mill has always been our favorite, yum !! We ask for the brown gravy on our potatoes it’s so good! We’ve never tried the Old Mill Pottery Cafe so we will definitely give it a try on our next visit to the Smokies. Thanks for honest reviews, everyone has a right to their own opinions 😊
Yes, everyone certainly does have the right to their opinion. Personally, I love the sawmill gravy far more than the brown, but the brown is fine, as well. If you do try the Pottery House Cafe, we would love to know what you think of it. I do not believe you will be disappointed. We've always found it to be even better.

Great video. Glad you tried it again. We have been to the Old Mill several times and always had a good meal. We have eaten at the Pottery House twice. In May, we ate at Pottery House again. Our food was not good. We ordered hamburger steak done. It came with bacon on top. We left the blue cheese off. It came out well done black. The bacon was burnt black. It came with steak fries. They were overcooked in old grease. They were dark brown. The salads were good. We both ordered the same thing. They both came out the same way. We don't send anything back because what might happen to it. We got there between 6:30 and 7:30. During our meal, the staff was sweeping the floors.

We were there a few weeks ago and none of us could finish our meal, which is very unusual. It was not good at all. Corn chowder was great tho. And we’ve been going for years so.
The Old Mill has always been one of our favorite places to eat in Pigeon Forge, but it has not been as good as it used to be. The last 2 times that we were there, we were disappointed with our experience. We were told to go to the Pottery House instead, that it is so much better. We have never eaten there, but everyone tells us that it is much better than the Old Mill Restaurant. I do really enjoy the corn fritters and the maple butter. The corn chowder is very good, too. I always get chicken and dumplings when I am at the Old Mill. I got the fried chicken 1 time instead of the chicken and dumplings once, and I didn't care for the fried chicken.
@smokymountainman4964 The fried chicken is what I got the first time we ever went, back in the 1990s. I was absolutely not impressed. I would agree, that the Old Mill Pottery House Cafe is a great option.
This video reminds me of my mother. She doesn't really care for the Old Mill, but the Old Mill Pottery is her favorite place to eat. She does love the corn chowder though.
I have to agree with your mother. While this meal at the Old Mill Restaurant was good, the Pottery House has always been a far better experience for us.
We ate there last fall. Everything we had for breakfast was really good. The country ham was a bit more salty than I had expected, but very good. We have to try lunch or dinner sometime.

Yes, she sure did. It's in the slideshow picture and in the video. We didn't even know it until the video was uploaded, and we were watching it on our big screen TV. I didn't catch it when I was editing. Kind of hope she sees this, and realizes how silly she looked when she did that.

I usually go for breakfast but if I go for dinner, I get there before lunch is over to get the little bit cheaper price and just have that one meal. I really enjoy the chowder; it has clam juice in it so I'm sure that causes some not to like it. I have made it at home a few times. Sidenote my cousin owns the Laying J Leather store, very neat place.

Glad the Third Time WAS The Charm! Great meal choices! Now to that lady with her tongue sticking out. I'm on the fence about it. I think this lady may have a personality with a lot of humor. She may very well have just been playing around. Most people would've just waved. We get that a lot, and that is perfectly fine. Sometimes, a person will yell something ridiculous, which is a bit childish. Never had a tongue stuck out before. But the thing is, the video was already up before either of us saw it. Had I seen the video part, I probably would've just cut it out. The picture, I would have left, because I needed a pic of the inside of the restaurant for the slide show. I'm not angry with her about it. It isn't a big deal. I wouldn't have mentioned it at all, except that others are commenting on it, and I do tend to agree with their statements.
I think The Old Mill food is declining a bit. I’ve had some of the best meals I’ve ever had in town there, but on a visit back in May we had one of the worst meals we’ve ever had in town there. We were there this past Tuesday and it was just “ok” and I expect better from them. We were there for dinner and the prices are a bit steeper, so the food should be on point. Always love y’all’s reviews!

Derrick, I want to thank you for you having the strength to "putt feet to your Christian faith" by forgiving the Old Mill and trying them again. My only experience receiving forgiveness so far in this life was by a Fairfax County Police officer who had me dead to rights for speeding when I was 19. He saw how upset I was and simply said, "Don't do it again." Other than that, always punished. Justly, and sometimes unjustly. I have to ask... if you ordered Country Fried Steak, would you put A-1 on it? Finally, as for the mixing of apples and potatoes, you are aware that in French, "potato" is "pomme de terre"? @johnpinckney4979 Well, first, I would not order a country fried steak. I think preparing it that way, is a waste of a good steak. And if I were forced to eat it that way for some reason, I would not waste the wonderful ingredients in A'1, on that steak. But I will certainly put A-1 on a steak that is prepared correctly, which is on a grill.
I'm the opposite, I've been to TOM 20+ times and Applebarn twice. I much prefer TOM. You must slather the maple butter on the fritters! Turkey & dressing is my go to. Pot roast is good. I've never tried chicken on the bone so you may have a point on it. Two things I don't love about TOM is wheelchairs have to ride the "elevator" up/down to seating area and it's always PACKED! Applebarn isn't bad, just TOM is better. IMHO
Well, we certainly respect your right to have your opinion and like something different than we do. We have been to Applewood, easily in excess of 20 times, and have always loved it. I have not had the boneless chicken at Applewood, to make a fair comparison. But I have had their chicken on the bone, and that isn't even close. I went with the boneless this time, because of my last experience with the bone in. This was a better choice.
@bak606063 We agree. We only went back this time, to give it another shot, and to do a video from there. It was better than it was the previous two visits. But for the most part, we would agree. It's overrated, and the Pottery House Cafe is consistently better.

We were there a few weeks ago and none of us could finish our meal, which is very unusual. It was not good at all. Corn chowder was great tho. And we’ve been going for years so.

The Old Mill has always been one of our favorite places to eat in Pigeon Forge, but it has not been as good as it used to be. The last 2 times that we were there, we were disappointed with our experience. We were told to go to the Pottery House instead, that it is so much better. We have never eaten there, but everyone tells us that it is much better than the Old Mill Restaurant. I do really enjoy the corn fritters and the maple butter. The corn chowder is very good, too. I always get chicken and dumplings when I am at the Old Mill. I got the fried chicken 1 time instead of the chicken and dumplings once, and I didn't care for the fried chicken.
@smokymountainman4964 The fried chicken is what I got the first time we ever went, back in the 1990s. I was absolutely not impressed.
I would agree, that the Old Mill Pottery House Cafe is a great option.

This video reminds me of my mother. She doesn't really care for the Old Mill, but the Old Mill Pottery is her favorite place to eat. She does love the corn chowder though.
I have to agree with your mother. While this meal at the Old Mill Restaurant was good, the Pottery House has always been a far better experience for us.
The Salt & Pepper shakers are from/made at Pigeon River Pottery, across the street :) and the Pottery House Cafe serves on their dishes!
We ate there last fall. Everything we had for breakfast was really good. The country ham was a bit more salty than I had expected, but very good. We have to try lunch or dinner sometime.

That lady that stuck her tongue at you really showed her intelligence and maturity, grow up. Anyways I enjoy the Old Mill. I usually go for breakfast but if I go for dinner, I get there before lunch is over to get the little bit cheaper price and just have that one meal. I really enjoy the chowder; it has clam juice in it so I'm sure that causes some not to like it. I have made it at home a few times. Sidenote my cousin owns the Laying J Leather store, very neat place.

I do agree with the others who have pointed out that she was acting childish and immature. I did not use the word "stupid", so again, you made an accusation that is false.
If you have watched our videos at all, you would know that we have an excellent sense of humor, as many of our videos have added humor.
So again, be informed before commenting. You obviously have not watched us much. Most people love the way we joke and put humor in our videos.

Glad the Third Time WAS The Charm! Great meal choices! Now to that lady with her tongue sticking out. I'm on the fence about it. I think this lady may have a personality with a lot of humor. I doubt she knew that the video would been seen by 1000's on TH-cam. She may have thought the video was just for yall. I believe she has a outgoing, fun side and just didn't really think it was just out of a whim gesture? Can't wait until yall go for breakfast!
She may very well have just been playing around. Most people would've just waved. We get that a lot, and that is perfectly fine. Sometimes, a person will yell something ridiculous, which is a bit childish.
Never had a tongue stuck out before.
But the thing is, the video was already up before either of us saw it. Had I seen the video part, I probably would've just cut it out. The picture, I would have left, because I needed a pic of the inside of the restaurant for the slide show.
I'm not angry with her about it. It isn't a big deal. I wouldn't have mentioned it at all, except that others are commenting on it, and I do tend to agree with their statements.
I think The Old Mill food is declining a bit. I’ve had some of the best meals I’ve ever had in town there, but on a visit back in May we had one of the worst meals we’ve ever had in town there. We were there this past Tuesday and it was just “ok” and I expect better from them. We were there for dinner and the prices are a bit steeper, so the food should be on point. Always love y’all’s reviews!

Derrick, I want to thank you for you having the strength to "putt feet to your Christian faith" by forgiving the Old Mill and trying them again. My only experience receiving forgiveness so far in this life was by a Fairfax County Police officer who had me dead to rights for speeding when I was 19. He saw how upset I was and simply said, "Don't do it again." Other than that, always punished. Justly, and sometimes unjustly. I have to ask... if you ordered Country Fried Steak, would you put A-1 on it? Finally, as for the mixing of apples and potatoes, you are aware that in French, "potato" is "pomme de terre"? @johnpinckney4979 Well, first, I would not order a country fried steak. I think preparing it that way, is a waste of a good steak.
And if I were forced to eat it that way for some reason, I would not waste the wonderful ingredients in A'1, on that steak.
But I will certainly put A-1 on a steak that is prepared correctly, which is on a grill.

I'm the opposite, I've been to TOM 20+ times and Applebarn twice. I much prefer TOM. You must slather the maple butter on the fritters! Turkey & dressing is my go to. Pot roast is good. I've never tried chicken on the bone so you may have a point on it. Two things I don't love about TOM is wheelchairs have to ride the "elevator" up/down to seating area and it's always PACKED! Applebarn isn't bad, just TOM is better. IMHO
Well, we certainly respect your right to have your opinion and like something different than we do. We have been to Applewood, easily in excess of 20 times, and have always loved it. I have not had the boneless chicken at Applewood, to make a fair comparison. But I have had their chicken on the bone, and that isn't even close.
I went with the boneless this time, because of my last experience with the bone in. This was a better choice.

@bak606063 We agree. We only went back this time, to give it another shot, and to do a video from there. It was better than it was the previous two visits. But for the most part, we would agree. It's overrated, and the Pottery House Cafe is consistently better.
The Old Mill was ok, too many other places that are better.
