    I'd split that generator box in half and widen it a little. Cool project

    I would widen the box on the back to match the body of the jeep.

    Man that is so similar to my build! I have and used a CJ8 scrambler top to make my cab and man does it look good! I dig this rig! Excited to see how you finish it out.

    I like the idea of the box on the back, but in my opinion that one doesn't flow with the jeep, shape and size wise. Id say find a short bed service body and narrow it, or maybe a small uhual trailer to use as a box. Aside from that, badass build!

    • @BuiltDifferentGarage
      @BuiltDifferentGarage  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Agree, it isn’t the most fitting thing for the rear but we have plans to make it look like it flows better with the rest of the Jeep. I do agree it needs to be a little bigger, we’ll see where it takes us.

    ARMY green /olive drab.. the four holes drilled into the fender, are they purposeful or just for looks? which looks great

    You can name it Ute. Utility Brute. Look into premier welder, they are an alternator powered stick welder set up a little pricey but very well built.

    • @BuiltDifferentGarage
      @BuiltDifferentGarage  ปีที่แล้ว

      That Welder is in my recent searches haha. We are trying to figure out a name, I do like that one.

    • @callmesomething1425
      @callmesomething1425 ปีที่แล้ว

      @BuiltDifferentGarage There are some other ones that can do Flux wire feed but are pretty pricey too, I like my modified jumper cables, 2 or 3 batteries, and some welding rod your good to go. Its janky but it will get you off the trail 90% of the time and it's as cheap as a couple of yard sale jumper cables and 30 minutes to cut them to appropriate lengths and add a rodholder clip end and ground.

    • @BuiltDifferentGarage
      @BuiltDifferentGarage  ปีที่แล้ว

      Absolutely! Anything to get you up and running temporarily is all you need!

      @@BuiltDifferentGarage I have settled on Brutlity (Brute + utility) for mine, I'm going to video and see what happens i might post it. We're basically building the same rig but mine has a utility service bed. Going for a everything and including the kitchen sink overland build with mine.

    awesome video..welcome back, hope you had an awesome wedding and honeymoon. Maybe try a flatbed and put the box thing if it will fit sideways on the on the flatbed. so you have room to put some stuff on sides for extra space. i think army green would be great.but it looks awesome. remember have fun and take care

    • @BuiltDifferentGarage
      @BuiltDifferentGarage  ปีที่แล้ว

    Looks like it’ll be a nice rock crawler! Before you go too far, run some numbers on the rear suspension geometry. At a quick glance (link placement and link lengths), it looks like the anti-squat may be way off.

    Love it. The toolbox idea is right on track with what I’d want to do to it and it’s very close to what I want to do with mine. I have a 2000 TJ Sahara that I’d love to convert into a single cab. Don’t quite have the balls to cut the back out without a plan to do it. Army green would look sick. Though I’m in the army so I’m biased lol. Can’t wait to see it.

    If you really want to build a rock crawler, stop talking about adding a bunch of weight up high... ie. roof top tent or top mounted spare. That box is already adding a bunch of weight up high. Step one would be to figure out how to lower it 6 or 8 inches. it is certainly a good base to start from.

    • @BuiltDifferentGarage
      @BuiltDifferentGarage  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Agreed. We probably won’t do the tent or spare. We were just throwing stuff out there

  • @vicgustafson8514

    Heads up but that is not a D60 front axle. 99-04 Ford is a D50 which is very weak. Look for an 05 and up D60. Love a YJ though.

    • @kshepthedrummer
      @kshepthedrummer ปีที่แล้ว +1

      99-04 had Dana 60s too

    • @dakotaregister1549
      @dakotaregister1549 ปีที่แล้ว

      Only difference between 99-04 and 05+ is width and the 99-04 is a king pin

    • @kshepthedrummer
      @kshepthedrummer ปีที่แล้ว

      @@dakotaregister1549 99-04 isn't kingpin. Kingpin is the oldschool Dana axles. 99-04 is narrower, leaf spring, and has slightly smaller knuckles/brakes/unit bearings than the 05+

    • @Tonnsfabrication
      @Tonnsfabrication ปีที่แล้ว

      The average guy wheelin a bit here and there will never know the difference betwen a 50 and 60. By 2003 the F series pretty much phased out the D50 and used D60 so it depends what year it's from. Any way you slice it, it's a million times better than a D 30
