That's beyond abnormal rust. I've seen 50 year old truck frames that have sat in the woods for 30 years look better than that and they lived in the rust belt all their lives. Everything GM has made since 1982 sucks balls. Made to rust and fall apart.

Oh, my God, man the rust. It's like peeling back like a honeymoon banana. These cars and trucks look like they've been driven into the ocean. You got enough salt in Canada.??? I have a 1940 Ford pickup truck. Never had a speck of rust on it daily driver. 95 Dodge Ram pick up not a spotter. Rust on it had it for 24 years v10. No salt used in the Northwest Oregon. Cars don't have a rust problem like new underneath all cars. I understand that General motors has a very large salt contract with the governments. Smoke cigarettes

Do some research before you take the box off and put flatbed on, realize it automatically makes it a commercial vehicle you have to safety every year and are prone to inspections under cvor act in ontario!! Ontario makes everything difficult. Do not modify the stock box or you will be pulled over and have all documents checked!!

You can get patch panels for yhe wheel archs on the bed. They not expensive. Get som blue paint miced up and you can have the paint put in spray cans. The paint probably cost more than patch panels

They don’t paint the frames that’s why, they black wax them. GM is the only company that does that, they say it’s self healing if it gets stone chipped, lol - It causes it to turn to puss in south western Ontario, especially if no one undercoats with a oil spray every year.

GM and Toyota have serious frame rust issues,well know fact..
Toyota still has issues even the Japanese built 4 Runner! The Tacoma and Tundra made in the USA also have frame rust,not sure if it is rectified in the last few years but the 4Runner is still having issues as of 2 years ago.
Not sure about GM or gm is it is now their corporate logo no more uppercase! I know about Toyota as I am a former tech..Frame swaps were fun and not to have the customer come back after the recall with issues was a challenge for lots of guys.
