  • Bassmaster Classic Champion Edwin Evers discusses the differences and applications of four core baits in the popular Megabass Vision Oneten jerkbait series. The Vision Oneten, Vision Oneten +1, Vision Oneten Magnum, and Vision Oneten Jr. share a DNA comparable to the original Vision Oneten, yet differences in action, running depth and body size give each of these tools a distinct time and place.
    Edwin discusses several factors that influence which bait he grabs given the condition set. This is excellent content for those new to jerkbait fishing or looking to build upon a solid knowledge base. Watch Edwin’s comprehensive Vision Oneten Silent video ( • When to Fish Silent Je... ) for a look at how sound factors into jerkbait fishing.

    Another one that could work on slick water days would be the X-80 trick darter since it has the smaller profile

    You got it backwards. Baits float more in cold (more dense) water, and sink more as it warms up. Good vid and underwater footage

    Watching a $25 jerkbait jerk past a brush pile that’s been rooted into the soil since the Garfield administration is a little nerve wracking hahah
    I have a few expensive jerkbaits and a few middle of the road ones and I understand their place, I promise. But man....that’s why I love my flukes/caffeine shad/etc. Yeah, they’re silent but they trigger that same part of the fish’s behavior, they’re weedless (so I’ll throw them into a jungle without blinking an eye) and if one gets hung up, I’m out less than $2. They used to call them sluggos when I was a kid and I looked at them like they were the dumbest bait ever invented...until I understood their VERY important place on the jerkbait continuum.

    • @Wired2Fish
      @Wired2Fish  5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I want to see a detailed layout of the jerkbait continuum.
      Every lure seems to have its place. The fine details are often in the suspension time and rate of fall. Some sink too fast, some float up too fast. The key is in knowing where each bait has strong a point. Remember, cold water is denser and can have an impact on the action of lures. The variables are often minute but can make a big difference.

    • @manifestgtr
      @manifestgtr 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Wired2Fish
      Absolutely...jerkbaits are their own separate style of fishing, completely. Even things like hardware choice make a difference, not only in hookup ratio, but sink rate and orientation in the water column. You could spend three lifetimes learning all there is to know about jerkbait fishing

    what kind of line do you use with jerkbaits?

    • @Wired2Fish
      @Wired2Fish  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      10lb fluorocarbon on the light end is pretty typical on up to 14 to 15-pound test on the heavy side. 12-pound test is a good all-around line size. Monofilament also performs well.
